And the snapstream forum suggests that the xmltv converter had to be taken down (maybe due to that). Which is fun because it's advertised on wikipedia how great it can import all your data sources *into* app. So it looks like yet another walled garden.

sometimes a person doesn't wanna watch TV or record TV; he just wants to play a video, and mplayer would be good for that purpose because one can just type 'mplayer /path/to/somevideo' and play it. Mythtv needs something that is similiar to that feature of mplayer
