[00:37:00] Twiggy2cents: tgm4883, did you have any more ideas on why I have horrid slow access times for program info and thumbs?
[00:45:11] tgm4883: Twiggy2cents, not really. You could tweak your mysql config though, those settings listed in the wiki should be fine
[00:45:30] Twiggy2cents: okay so just throw them in the bottom and it would be fine?
[00:45:48] tgm4883: No, they should be set in there already, just to other values
[00:45:50] Twiggy2cents: According to mysqltuner.pl I have some fragmented tables. I will try optimizing them first
[00:45:52] tgm4883: so just change the values
[00:45:57] Twiggy2cents: Okay so hunt them out and change
[00:46:01] tgm4883: If they aren't in there, then yea just add them to the bottom
[00:50:27] Deek: hmm, I wonder if I could get myth to save a single stream to two files...
[00:50:46] Deek: (no, not with "cp")
[00:52:25] Deek: context: two recordings via 1394, same channel, overlapping by from seconds to minutes
[00:56:47] zombor (zombor!~zombor_@kohana/developer/zombor) has quit (Remote host closed the connection)
[00:58:36] Deek: Specifically, the 30 minute "add extra time to recording" scheduling for sporting events (which I like) leads to myth rescheduling F1 races to the next day in order to record an extra 30 minutes of the preceding GP2 race.
[00:58:49] Deek: This part, not so much. :)
[00:59:43] Twiggy2cents: I think you can if your tuners are capable of multicast. I could be wrong though
[01:02:20] Twiggy2cents: tgm4883, very weird... Upcoming recording/listings program info(future shows) come up instantly. Recording program program info takes 30 seconds
[01:06:35] Twiggy2cents: Testing it with a web page benchmark shows nothing wrong with it. So it must be something in the database holding everything up

[10:41:17] lxs-makoto: ah
[10:41:26] lxs-makoto: what does it mean?
[10:41:46] dekarl: there was a race condition added to the kernel where opening, closing and quickly reopening the frontend would result in that error
[10:42:16] dekarl: so its a driver bug, sadly devinheitmueller isn't here at the moment, maybe he'd knew a workaround
[10:42:41] lxs-makoto: ouch, ok.
[10:43:40] lxs-makoto: in that case. how does one open a dvbs2 stream in mplayer?

[11:03:45] dekarl: after all, if we can open it, it should not report "no device" when issuing the ioctl call
[11:04:53] lxs-makoto: is it still in the latest kernels?

[11:13:30] lxs-makoto: linux-3.3.6–1 ?
[11:14:19] dekarl: It was added to the linuxtv development tree 2 years ago and has not been changed yet. so yes very likely
[11:15:06] lxs-makoto: ohh
[11:15:29] dekarl: maybe someone over at linuxtv knows more about it
[11:15:49] lxs-makoto: what can i do to work around it? find the code in the kernel and try hack around it?
[11:16:43] dekarl: maybe trying multiple times in mythtv-setup (enter/leave device screen) is enough, I don't know. But yes, patching the kernel likely will help to. But that's outside of my area of expertise
[11:17:06] lxs-makoto: its definitely outside mine.
[11:17:38] lxs-makoto: its annoying, it worked in ubuntu, but i know they do stuff to the kernel anyways
[11:23:37] sphery: haven't read backlog, but why not just use *buntu, then?
[11:24:00] lxs-makoto: because I don't have enough hard drives
[11:25:31] dekarl: sphery: the issue likely came along with some kernel updates in the last 6–12 month, nothing to do with *buntu something else :) (I'm just making up numbers as I have no idea how long it takes to linxutv changes to end up in a released production kernel)
[11:25:33] lxs-makoto: that, and i have a fairly established arch linux installation on this drive
[11:25:51] lxs-makoto: actually
[11:25:53] lxs-makoto: that would make sense
[11:26:05] lxs-makoto: as the last time i tried this card was about a year ago
[11:26:13] dekarl: going back to a late 2010/early 2011 kernel will likely make the issue go away
[11:26:17] lxs-makoto: i gave up because itegrated gfx suck
[11:30:05] dekarl: lxs-makoto: just an idea, try running femon on the device in question in parallel to mythtv-setup to avoid the driver shutting down the frontend when mythtv-setup closes the device
[11:36:39] lxs-makoto: omg
[11:36:49] lxs-makoto: i love you so much right now

[22:43:14] sphery: (by default, using the Z key)
[22:50:27] cocoa117: wagnerrp, so that means the commercial detector in mythtv will function like commskip external program. It will exam my recording frame by frame in MPEG or H.264 video codec and use different paraemter to figure out which parts is commercial, right?
[22:50:50] wagnerrp: and save that determination to the skiplist
[22:51:01] wagnerrp: which is only currently used optionally during playback in mythfrontend
[22:53:10] cocoa117: only used during playback... Does that mean I have to play the whole recording before mythTV can determine which part is commercial?
[22:53:26] wagnerrp: no
[22:53:53] cocoa117: so it is generally on, and examing recording all the time?
[22:53:53] wagnerrp: it means during playback, mythfrontend can optionally skip the segments detected as commercials
[22:54:17] wagnerrp: define "all the time"
[22:55:00] cocoa117: enn, at least go through the whole recording after it is program is saved to the disk
[22:55:29] cocoa117: i mean after the program is saved to the disk
[22:55:41] wagnerrp: potentially as it is saved to disk
[22:55:57] cocoa117: and its mythfrontend's job, not mythbackend
[22:57:13] cocoa117: wagnerrp , ok, that's lot clear picture then what wiki said, thanx

[23:14:41] Twiggy2cents: Where would I start troubleshooting mythweb not loading certain pages. Backend status page, recorded programs, upcoming recordings, recording schedules, actually pretty much only listings loads and it takes forever.
[23:14:54] Twiggy2cents: I dont know what is happening to my mythweb, it is kindof dying

[23:56:14] skd5aner: Twiggy2cents: that sometimes happens when there's an issue with too many requests and mythbackend not clearing them properly
