| [00:01:14] | mack: | It would take a database query to match recording filename to title. If I recall correctly, the files are numeric with channel ID and start time code. |
| [00:01:23] | mack: | Why the sudden hate on ext4? |
| [00:01:50] | Sabotender: | Ah compatibility between operating systems. |
| [00:02:36] | mack: | reading and writing directly to disk might not be the best way of doing what ever you're thinking of doing :) |
| [00:03:35] | mack: | my myth disks are/were XFS |
| [00:04:13] | Sabotender: | at first, I had not even considered using exfat, because it was a super proprietary file system, and support was very spotty. In addition, all of my formatting attempts in windows resulted in failure. That's why I thought it was a rubbishy file system. but just recently, I discovered that it is now open, and support is stable between many/most operating systems. |
| [00:07:08] | mack: | most modern operating systems can handle most common filesystems these days – sometimes with more work than others, but still. |
| [00:07:35] | ** Sabotender laughs ** | |
| [00:07:45] | Sabotender: | except for windows. 😛 |
| [00:08:20] | mack: | i would argue that if you were to want to use your myth disk in another OS, you probably don't want the data and would reformat anyway :) |
| [00:08:58] | mack: | Videos storage group, etc, I could see, but not just livetv/recordings. |
| [00:09:44] | Sabotender: | hmm. from what you were telling me, it appears that I will need to sort these files manually, before I wipe and reformat. I will temporarily move them to the drive that I'm currently using for livetv |
| [00:09:54] | mack: | yeah, windows is getting there with linux things. |
| [00:10:46] | mack: | Win 11 supposedly handles ext4 and such, but I don't really care to try Win 11. |
| [00:12:28] | Sabotender: | lately, I'm only using when does 11 for gaming, and work related stuff. really do appreciate you giving me this information |
| [00:16:52] | Sabotender: | Hehe, I sympathise with your resistance to Windows 11. I only have it, because I could. It's a good story that I'm willing to tell you if you're ever interested to read it. |

| [00:40:41] | mack: | I still have a Win 10 partition, and have only had to use it once since I switched back to linux. It was for a piece of crap 20 year old scanner. Supposedly there is a linux driver, but I couldnt make it work. I just took the lose and rebooted to Windows to get my scans. |
