[01:01:35] | Sabotender: | ! |
[01:03:04] | Sabotender: | good gracious, I was just Googling that, to check if it exists. It might be better if I tried to develop an actual component, because I would like to have some sort out visual notification on the status of the file, similar to what is already present. |
[01:09:38] | Sabotender: | I'm thinking that a padlock icon would be a good representation for file mutable status. Just a lock symbol, greyed out if normal status. something unobtrusive. What are your thoughts? |
[01:58:35] | mack: | My thoughts are that if the recording rule is set correctly, there's no need for such a thing ^.^ |
[02:40:02] | Sabotender: | Erm, this is only for setting a file that cannot expire, when you have reasonable expiry sset. How would rules mitigate this setup? |
[03:26:16] | mack: | When you schedule the recording, just set the recording rule to not auto-expire. |
[03:26:55] | mack: | then it will only expire when you specifically tell it to. |
[03:28:54] | mack: | If you want one save one episode of a program that you have set to autoexpire, then just manually tell that recording to not expire. Or use one of the tools to transcode and place into Videos (I'm not sure any of these are working out of the box atm) |
[04:07:10] | Sabotender: | mack: Can that be toggled with a remote/keyboard buttonpress Quick setting perhaps its a custom job. |
[04:07:40] | Sabotender: | I checked Edit Keys, and its not there. |
[04:08:59] | Sabotender: | This is why the script 😉 Might be able to work in the API usage too for nice visual effect. |
[06:24:22] | mack: | Not a single keypress, no |
[06:24:48] | mack: | menu, navigate with cursor keys, I think |

[16:42:36] | Sabotender: | I prefer quick automation. |
[16:50:02] | Sabotender: | Also, I managed to fix controlling volume and mute with mythtv frontend, but The functionality is lost, when I turn off my television. Upon turning it back on, the only way to restore the feature, is to exit out of the manage recordings, and going back into it. I may need to write an additional script to watch when my monitor (HDMI TV) is reconnected (turned on) and then restart the frontend process. I cannot think of any other valid |
[16:50:02] | Sabotender: | solution, and my web search has resulted in nil. Seems like a handshake issue. |
[16:51:16] | Sabotender: | I will show you the script when its done. |
[18:23:32] | mack: | Do you have CEC capable hardware? CEC is the (usually) easy way, but pretty much only HTPC-oriented and Raspberry Pi computers support it natively. Adapters of varying quality do exist to add the function to other PCs. |
[19:29:04] | Sabotender: | Hmm, mack , might help it is not connected to the ARC HDMI input on my television… I don't think it would support CEC signals. It may be that the issue lies elsewhere |
[19:33:33] | Sabotender: | I know, it's quirky. I don't mind creating work arounds for features that are not precisely built in, though it would have been nice if they were. I fully, and totally understand that this is not… What is that old phrase, that I had heard someone mention… Something about, not being Burger King, and that I couldn't have it my way. |
[19:36:21] | ** Sabotender laughs aloud. 😅 ** | |
[19:39:05] | Sabotender: | This could even be a XUbuntu, pulseaudio, pipewire, or ALSA issue, |
