[01:14:28] hampton: No, what happened is while I was working on the avsync I made a small code cleanup that was unrelated to the std::chrono changes, and I totally botched it. Removing that three line change fixes the playback on 32-bit systems.

[14:25:29] peterbennett: hampton: Is there any point distributing another 32bit android build or is it still broken?
[14:31:05] peterbennett: hampton: I can confirm intel 64bit playback broken, so I will wait on that android build.
[14:31:28] hampton: Typing a commit message now.
[14:39:47] ooshlablu_ is now known as ooshlablu
[14:57:20] hampton: I tested this on intel, arm32 and arm64 at playback speeds of 1.0, 1.5, and 1.0 again. It all looks good to me. The arm32 doesn't handle a playback speed of 1.5 very well, but A/V did stay in sync, and was fine when I dropped the speed back to 1.0.
[14:58:29] hampton: I'll be around off and on all day if there are more problems.
[15:24:14] peterbennett: hampton: Thank you :) I will test it.
[15:25:48] ooshlablu: is this an appropriate channel to share things about mythtv-light on rpi4? Or is there a separate channel?
[15:26:18] peterbennett: Thiis is the correct channel
[15:26:49] ooshlablu: ok, I have some info from a couple of experiences
[15:28:25] ooshlablu: I have seen a bunch of complaints in forums about bad video, lagging, etc, but in my case using mmal with all deinterlacers off, locked to 1 core, I can get 1080p 60hz no problem, but there is a major screen tearing issue which is not unique to mythtv
[15:30:15] ooshlablu: if I up the cores to even 2, there's like this on and off lagginess that happens, which AFAICT is the kmigrationd kernel process swapping the L1/L2 caches between cores
[15:30:29] ooshlablu: 1 core has always been fine in my case
[15:31:19] ooshlablu: I'm not sure what the deal is with the screen tearing, but there was a release to vlc recently which fixed fullscreen output using the MMAL decoder. It still blows in windowed mode
[15:31:48] peterbennett: The original Raspberry pi code has been rewritten by Mark Kendall, I don't know if he is aware of the problem, probably best to create a ticket in github.
[15:33:08] ooshlablu: ok, is there some specific language that you would like to see when I file it that states that it is more FYI than complaint / fix me?
[15:33:15] peterbennett: I have raspberry pi 2 and 3 and the playback of late is not very good, so I have switched to fire sticks 4K, which cost less than raspberry pi and work better for video playback.
[15:35:03] peterbennett: You can also send email to mark or to the developers mailing list mythtv-dev@mythtv.org
[15:35:16] ooshlablu: mythtv-light 0.29 worked fantastically for a while for me. I upgraded recently because ubuntu 16.04 is going out of support and yeah, the video internals of latest raspbian os have changed a _ton_
[15:35:34] peterbennett: Or try to catch mark on here, he is markk__ when he is on.
[15:35:36] ooshlablu: and I don't understand what this screen tearing issues with the rpi4 in general
[15:35:40] ooshlablu: ok
[15:36:12] ooshlablu: I would be interested to know more about how set up works on a firestick 4k
[15:36:16] peterbennett: Did you do a google search to find a solution to screen tearing?
[15:36:29] ooshlablu: yeah, it's a major issue with rpi4
[15:36:45] peterbennett: no solution suggested?
[15:37:06] ooshlablu: their fix seems to be to implement full/real kms with their video drivers, which is not happening outside of beta soon :-)
[15:37:31] ooshlablu: they all default to fmks (fake kms) for the video driver for now
[15:38:10] ooshlablu: the full kms driver breaks other things randomly for no reason at this point, and doesn't support native HDMI audio, etc
[15:38:13] peterbennett: Do you have the beta version?
[15:39:18] ooshlablu: yeah, it ends up being laggy because you have to load the bcm audio driver and the kms driver at the same time and it like loses its mind trying to stream over both
[15:39:35] ooshlablu: vlc and everything else behaves the same way FWIW
[15:39:46] ooshlablu: with that driver
[15:46:10] ooshlablu: so if I get a firestick, do I just install this app: https://www.amazon.com/Daniel-Frey-MythTV-And . . . /B009ZMIVR8?
[15:47:34] ooshlablu: I have a friend that has one, would be fun to test
[15:47:34] ooshlablu: (I'll file the rpi4 stuff in a ticket and tag markk__ btw)
[15:50:20] peterbennett: No don't install that
[15:52:25] peterbennett: There are two android apps, not in the play store, mythfrontend and leanfront
[15:52:38] peterbennett: for mythfrontend see https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Android
[15:53:08] peterbennett: for leanfront see https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Android_TV_Leanback_Frontend and https://github.com/bennettpeter/android-MythT . . . er/README.md
[15:53:18] ooshlablu: sweet, thanx
[15:55:11] peterbennett: Firestick 4k works well for both, firestick non-4k works for leanfront but mythfrontend will not play smoothly on non-4k
[16:06:31] peterbennett: hampton: I assume the raspberry pi (it is 32bit) would also be impacted by the bug. Better redo those also...
[16:08:54] ooshlablu: oh dude, this is sick
[16:09:17] ooshlablu: I have leanfront running on my phone, and it's just what I've been hoping for
[16:09:33] ooshlablu: watching live tv no issues
[16:09:52] hampton: Yes. It was truncating timestamps on 32-bit systems when doing a floating point divide.
[16:26:00] peterbennett: ooshlablu: sick?
[16:26:30] ooshlablu: sweet,awesome, etc :-)
[16:26:46] peterbennett: glad you like it :)

[20:27:14] warpme_: why? for sure it is huge project with multiple years collected cruft. my whole family uses current master daily without any single complain. So i suspect probably your perception is perfectionist view. Whatever you decide – code you are doing is TOP class (i.e functionally compared to 10x more popular Kodi). I personally think we my to consider for decompose devel. plans to small steeps and enter with them traditional
[20:27:14] warpme_: devel.cycle. This will allow to slowdown + receive _for sure_ positive feedback (imho quite important to avoid burndown). even if this will make release prolonged – probably this will allow us to get desired balance for quality<->functinality

[22:19:32] stuarta: trying to work out how to re-hook startup when there is no config is like peeling an onion
[22:52:07] stuarta: not to mention same code is used for both frontend and backend, and it handles all the permutations.
[22:57:51] stuarta: ugh, more crap from libmythupnp involved in basic startup, purely for loading configuration....
[23:14:52] stuarta: and why the hell does the backend load the translations for the frontend....
