[01:25:29] gigem: peterbennett: I wonder if that's partly why the youtube app doesn't support timestretch on android tv.
[01:26:23] gigem: To clarify, the picture move I'm talking about is akin to jpabq's move bottom line off schreen feature. I'm just still used to doing it manually.
[01:27:13] gigem: There should probably be a master backend query to get slave backend details. Manually configuring them would be fine as a stop gap.

[10:21:32] stuarta: we need to get to "mostly happy" with it, then we can cut it, and get it out for wider testing

[14:36:47] markk_: markspieth, gigem, peterbennett: I have some mode switching working on android – needs more work but improves 25/50fps playback. I can however confirm that even when video is switched to 4k, it is still scaling from 1080p. A 4k test card is pixel perfect played through the tv's DNLA interface but is noticeably blurred by comparison in myth/android (display at 4k)
[14:42:45] stuarta: scaling it down?
[14:46:23] markk_: stuarta: as far as I can tell, qt/android use a 1080p surface – which is then scaled to the actual display resolution.
[14:46:37] markk_: so it is scaled down and then up again:)
[14:49:36] ** stuarta facepalms **
[14:52:47] warpme_: some time ago I heard many SoC/OS vendors are doing multiple things to limit effective video resolution to HD – purely because of business model: they want to offer DRM protected 'real' 4k path to provide full control of this path for content provider & os vendor (trusted chain in DRM is key here) . i.e. ARM to doing many efforts to control HDCP subsystem in display engine by ARM trusted firmware – all to be sure that
[14:52:48] warpme_: only trusted entities can display real 4k on hw. I suspect google might by exactly doing this in android (the same like apple & MS)?
