[07:44:27] markk_: markspieth2: so I started from scratch with my android build and have a clean set of libs in /mythinstall64. running mythbuild.sh and it bails out straight away complaining that there is no QtScript. No sign of it in mythinstall64 but it has been built (it is in libs64). Any idea what might have gone wrong? how to fix it? without rebuilding everything – this is a dual core setup:)

[09:23:42] warpme_: sorry. i was on call (i'm in work :( ). regarding doing dev on mm2 target: it is possible but might be challenge. Model I'm doing with minimyth2 (mm2) is full canadian cross-compile. (i'm building full dev environment with canadian cross model so build != host != target). while initially it takes some time to do (fully automated) preparation – nice result for me is dev env. is dependent just only on few basic softwares
[09:23:42] warpme_: (7) from build system. Plus is once all is up-and-running we can use multicore fast build machine to produce cross code. Also maximally independence on build machine pay really off (i'm dependent only on: make flex gawk texinfo gcc patch wget and only once – at host building bootstrap).
[09:26:02] warpme_: argh: cross-build of current master failing on recent python changes....let me sort this...
[09:28:15] warpme_: seems like issue of mythplugins config: which is trying to use build perl binary instead of host perl....
[09:28:52] stuarta: erm, that sounds correct???
[09:36:34] warpme_: stuarta: if you are referring to my perl remark: i believe all is ok for: native/cross/cross-native but not for canadian-cross
[09:37:11] stuarta: hmm
[09:42:44] warpme_: markk_: regarding mm2 target image as dev env: another remark: i'm doing multiple hard things (i.e copying to image only linker req. libs) to minimize mm2 target size (mm2 is network booted so size matters; as result: without fat webkit and nvidia blobs – full distrto with mythtv can have 150MB of size).
[09:44:31] markk_: warpme_: yes – I remembered that about 30seconds after I asked:) Just trying to understand how I can test new code – just running a pre-compiled blob doesn't necessarily help much.
[09:46:21] warpme_: stuarta: interesting is that mythtv base uses perl OK – only plugins seems to require: https://github.com/warpme/minimyth2/blob/mast . . . config.patch
[09:47:05] stuarta: the plugins configure has always been less complete than the main one
[09:48:30] warpme_: markk_: i written dedicated deployment scripts do this. they automatically installing target bins on target and restarting processes on target – so delta in time is time to do scp on network between build machine and target machine
[09:49:35] warpme_: fyi: https://github.com/warpme/minimyth2/blob/mast . . . ed-mythtv.sh
[09:50:54] warpme_: "delta in time" – when you comparing native (or cross-native) dev model....
[09:57:41] warpme_: markk_: thing not easy to do at dev phase is GUI debugging. as mm2 is minimal distro – there is no things like build native Qt studio etc. but i.e. GDB or apitrace of course are already available :-p
[10:00:35] markk_: warpme_: I don't need anything more than the ability to run something with a specific log level, look at log, update code, re-run...
[10:01:36] warpme_: markk_: then for this we are more than ready :-)

[11:58:04] markk_: warpme_: when it says DHCP server- presumably that is just on the local router? I don't need to run another?
[11:58:25] stuarta: warpme_: old email address gone?
[12:00:46] warpme_: nope. fully working (and I received passwd reset msg to this address)
[12:01:20] warpme_: markk_: I mean IP address where DHCP server runs
[12:01:43] warpme_: if it is local router – then BE is probably on different IP host right?
[12:02:48] warpme_: if so – You may add next-server option in dhcp config pointing to BE ip address
[12:04:33] warpme_: alternative is to setup tftp/http server providing config to minimyth2 (you know – by design minimyth2 is local config states-less. all config is on server)
[12:05:33] warpme_: local config states-less -> zero touch provisioning
[12:10:58] markk_: warpme_: dhcp config ? – edit file directly on sd card?
[12:17:35] markspieth (markspieth!~yaaic@mythtv/developer/markspieth) has quit (Remote host closed the connection)
[12:17:42] warpme_: markk_: oh – no. I mean dhcp server (local router) which provides ip addr/etc to dhcp client (mm2 here).
[12:21:45] warpme_: keeping in mind potential future plays with mm2 – most prospective will be to setup full tftp/dhcp/http infra. some time ago I wrote crude scripts to help this process: pls look in install-* scripts here https://dl.bintray.com/warpme/minimyth2/ (it wad long long ago – so they might be non-working)
[12:22:11] warpme_: wad->was
[12:27:51] warpme_: if You don't have time/cycles to mess with this networking stuff – I can prepare procedure about this (and probably also update install-* scripts) – but time to do this i'll have earliest today evening :-(

[12:50:35] markk_: warpme_: ok – I'm lost/confused. I have a standard broadband router that provides the usual dhcp server etc. I don't run a separate dhcp server – and I suspect most people don't. so I'm honestly not sure using dhcp is the best way to do autodiscovery.
[13:04:56] warpme_: markk_: oh – this is whole separate topic :-) Zero touch provisioning means local config states-less. Centralised config requires: discovery, storage/customisation and transfer. Discovery needs broadcast protocol. Candidates are i.e. uPNP or DHCP, or.... I went with DHCP because is also helps me with network boot (PXE).... Returning to our case: even if we have use-case where mm2 can't connect to master BE – mythtv
[13:04:57] warpme_: frontend offers BE discovery via uPNP and You should receive nice screen allowing to BE search (btw: really nice work of Peter Bennett). So it should allow You to discover BE. I tested such use-case in my environment few days ago and it was working OK. mm2 will not remember results of this discovery – but this is other story. It looks like in Your environment something causes that mythtv uPNP not works OK. This also may
[13:04:57] warpme_: explain black screen which shouldn't happen. Usual candidate is another uPNP server (another to mythtv master BE uPNP server). Usually it is local router? Do you have enabled uPNP on Yours local router?
[13:05:35] warpme_: let me re-check such scenario....
[13:08:03] stuarta: sounds like some upnp filtering is required, and yes most off the shelf broadband routers will enable upnp
[13:09:54] markk_: warpme_: ok – just started again – actual error is cannot connect the mythtv master backend database
[13:14:38] markk_: warpme_: log – https://pastebin.com/tCQQ9yBd
[13:25:43] warpme_: markk_: ok. I rechecked such use-case in my environment and mm2 shows BE selection dialog when there is wrong BE IP provided. I selected for search in this dialog and mm2 found itself BE and all works. Looking on log You provided is see root cause: your dhcp server is not providing 'next-server' option at all in dhcp offer. In that case master BE IP in mm2 is undefined  – not defined+wrong. This is my overlook for
[13:25:43] warpme_: covering unexpected scenarios. For sure I'll fix this quickly. Give me pls some time. (btw: billion thx for Your patience)

[23:32:23] gigem: markk_: It looked like I hadn't done a full, libs build in almost a year so I tried today. I needed to re-install some packages that I'd removed because I'd forgotten why I needed them. It now fails in building qt with some cryptic host-related, c++ errors. I suspect they are due to g++ 9 instead of g++8 now being my default compiler. I'll try again tomorrow. I've got other things to do
[23:32:24] gigem: tonight.
