[11:40:14] | stuarta: | KdW: should we not try to move to use the DVBv5 calls first, and then fallback to v3? |

[13:06:13] | KdW: | stuarta: i tend to agree, the patch was created with the minimum amount of change in mind. can have a second look into that, but it is independent of the multiple delivery systems. I think. |
[13:07:35] | KdW: | stuarta: I forgot to add the "Fixes: #13386 in the commit this morning. which means I should manually close the ticket, correct? |

[13:12:53] | stuarta: | KdW: correct, and link the changeset |
[13:13:44] | stuarta: | KdW: yes using DVBv5 api over DVBv3 api is independent of multiple delivery systems |
[13:19:43] | KdW: | stuart: how is the link "xxxxx/mythtv" created? |
[13:21:30] | stuarta: | which link is that? |
[13:22:39] | KdW: | in the automatic close there is a link, (example from previous ticket) 07cdda87a/mythtv which links to https://code.mythtv.org/trac/changeset/07cdda . . . 0b9ce/mythtv |
[13:23:34] | KdW: | I can add the short or the long commit number in the comment but maybe it does not become clickable then... |
[13:25:34] | stuarta: | oh right, the trac hooks do that |
[13:29:19] | stuarta: | KdW: worst case just put the whole thing in |
[13:32:33] | KdW: | Done! the long hash is automagically clickable now |

[20:01:22] | peterbennett: | markk_: Maybe there is some type of dvd copy protection on the dvd |
[20:01:40] | peterbennett: | Is it on all dvds |
[20:02:15] | markk_: | peterbennett: will test anoher – good point. |
[20:02:52] | markk_: | warpme_: I've not tested vdpau for some time but I don't think there is anything that should break it. can you get some -v playback --loglevel=debug logs |
[20:03:05] | markk_: | may be something more to go on. |
[20:08:16] | peterbennett: | markk_: I seem to remember that if it is a new DVD drive the country needs to be set on the dvd drive before you can use it – not sure if that is still needed. |
[20:08:20] | markk_: | warpme_: my best guess would be either a pre-emption (which should be handled) or a memory issue |
[20:09:18] | warpme_: | markk_: here is log: https://pastebin.com/CNrJJiC2 |
[20:12:31] | markk_: | peterbennett: for some reason it works straight from disk but not from iso/filesystem |
[20:18:14] | markk_: | warpme_: I'll have a look tomorrow. I think some of the changes I made to videobuffers may have created a problem for vdpau. |
[20:18:31] | warpme_: | markk_: thx! |
[20:20:54] | markk_: | peterbennett: I keep on forgetting to ask. Have you tested whether the 'extra opengl stage' setting is still needed for the render branch? would be nice to remove. and – I assume from previous comments that you have a 10bit display – with the mediacodec direct rendering, 10bit frames should in theory be passed straight through. Does MythRenderOpenGL report a 10bit framebuffer? |
[20:21:19] | markk_: | I'm just testing a fix for mediacodec surface rendering – nearly there:) |
[20:34:10] | peterbennett: | markk_: I will do some testing without the extra opengl setting and see what happens |
[21:01:07] | gigem: | markk_, peterbennett: My ripped dvds haven't played correctly in mythtv in a very long time. They play fine in vlc, though. |
[21:23:08] | markk_: | gigem, peterbennett: latest mediacodec updates seem to be working pretty well on the shield. seems stable, seeking, pausing, timestretch all ok. |

[22:42:31] | gigem: | mark_: Mediacodec playback on my shield looks good but skips (and ff/rew) are another matter. With 1080i content, skips almost always take ~4 seconds. With 720p content, skips are often good at .1 seconds or less but there are still frequent, ~4 second skips. I'm guessing the long skips are because the decoder needs to be reset. |
[22:50:13] | gigem: | mark_: One more data point. I tried a movie that I'd transocded to h.265, 10080p24. There were no long skips with it. The previous 1090i and 720p recordings I'd tried were mpeg2 and h.264. |
