[14:39:29] | warpme: | guys: is anybody building current master against ARM64 (aarch64)? |
[14:41:40] | warpme: | I have issue with linking libmythavcodec |
[14:41:52] | stuarta: | warpme: you checked the buildbot pages? |
[14:42:30] | warpme: | oh no. do we have buildbot building for aarch64? |
[14:42:55] | stuarta: | https://code.mythtv.org/buildbot/builders/master-fedora-aarch64 |
[14:43:24] | stuarta: | warpme: although i guess you use archlinux not fedora? |
[14:48:26] | warpme: | ok. I'm on this page. I quickly look on configure output for aarch64 build and see "CPU aarch64". Mine has: "CPU aarch64 (armv8-a)". hmm.... |
[14:49:12] | warpme: | Yes indeed – I'm giving run for arm archlinux with current kernel + uniboot |
[14:50:28] | stuarta: | still on an rpi? |
[14:50:38] | warpme: | yes – rpi3 |
[14:52:27] | stuarta: | me-- the trac-admin convert_db command i have been looking for has been added to trac-1.3.2+ and we are running the current release of 1.2.2 |
[14:53:55] | stuarta: | well more to the point 1.2.2 is the latest released 1.2 in fedora |
[14:54:41] | Steve-Goodey (Steve-Goodey!~steve@host5-81-206-37.range5-81.btcentralplus.com) has quit (Quit: Konversation terminated!)
[15:03:03] | stuarta: | warpme: anyway, you'll need to put the logs somewhere that they can be looked at |
[15:03:24] | stuarta: | alternatively, i don't mind adding a further buildslave </hint> ;-) |
[15:04:39] | warpme: | sure. now I manage to have almost thesame configure output like fedora-aarch64. started to build. lets see what happens :-p |
[15:04:47] | stuarta: | ok |
[15:07:48] | warpme: | still courious about video hw accel. fedora-aarch seems to built without openmax. Current arch (stock kernel + uniboot) don't have brcm blobs – so probably I will try first with omx-bellagio. Affraid a bit that there is no brcm blobs for 4.16 kernel (this is used by archlinux when user goes with uniboot). |
[15:09:30] | warpme: | oh btw: saying uniboot I meant U-boot |
[15:09:59] | stuarta: | openmax on !raspbian is a bit of an unexplored area right now |
[15:10:47] | stuarta: | as is using the expermental opengl on raspbian |
[15:13:30] | warpme: | yeah – albeit on archlinux I have fully working hw accell (both eglfs and xcb). I suspect we still need to wait till mesa guys will implement hw access via gallium state tracker. I don't believe we will have FOSS driver for VC4 hw video decoder.... |
[15:13:48] | warpme: | access->accell |
[15:14:37] | warpme: | I suspect "expermental opengl" means mesa as gl provider |

[15:16:33] | warpme: | I'm really wonder what can be achieved with ffmpeg sw decode on cortex-a53 |
[15:22:09] | stuarta: | sw decode? not much |
[15:22:27] | stuarta: | the mesa guys do keep working on it. |
[15:22:30] | warpme: | hmm – just looked on opemmax thing: my sys has libomxil-bellagio 0.9.3 installed. But myth configure reports "OpenMAX support no". Interesting... |
[15:22:55] | stuarta: | but in theory, you can use openmax independently of mesa (aka opengl) |
[15:23:18] | kwizart: | warpme, there are better openmax il implemenation than bellagio, pi uses a custom one |
[15:23:33] | kwizart: | warpme, you could have a look at tizonia-openmax-il |
[15:25:07] | kwizart: | iirc the pi userspace is still armv7hl only (not aarch64) |
[15:25:32] | stuarta: | kwizart: correct, that's with raspbian, they are still running it in armv7hl mode |
[15:25:54] | stuarta: | whilst fedora, archlinux et al all have aarch64 variants |
[15:26:16] | warpme: | i'm not sure – but IIRC brcm blobs with openmax have different windowing api params than mesa gl – so if user goes with brcm blob openmax – user is forced to go also with brcm blob gl. in other words (IIRC) mesa gl can't cooperate with brcm openmax IL. |
[15:27:18] | stuarta: | ah, but i did find some references to the kodi guys getting support added into mesa for non native surfaces, which does allow (in theory) the surfaces to be reused (ie. zero copy) |

[15:28:18] | stuarta: | that support landed a while back, so should be in all the major distros already |

[15:28:56] | ** stuarta insults his laptop for not immediately having it available and installable as a package **
[15:30:14] | warpme: | hmm – no tizonia-openmax-il package for archlinux aarch64.... |
[15:31:23] | stuarta: | there is an AUR |
