[15:46:20] | gigem: | stuarta, markspieth: This is regarding #13207. When a new recording starts, it doesn't cause an active scan on another, conflicting, diseqc input to stop. It's probably related to the channelbase and conflicting input handling I refactored in and 29 (and maybe even 0.28). I'm trying to understand how that was handled in earlier versions. |
[15:46:20] | ** MythLogBot http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/13207 ** | |
[15:46:52] | stuarta: | the eitscanner should be told to stop |
[15:47:00] | stuarta: | there was some code to do that |
[15:47:33] | gigem: | That's what I'm trying to find and have been unable to do so far. |
[15:47:46] | stuarta: | now maybe it's just not categorizing those inputs as mutually exclusive? |
[15:49:53] | gigem: | No, I think the new handling is solid and considerable simpler. I think it had to with the old ChannelBase object which was a very complicated, ugly mess. |
[15:50:22] | stuarta: | it's horrible horrible code to follow |
[15:51:47] | gigem: | Yes. It's better now, but there's still a lot that could be simplified. |

[21:13:19] | markspieth: | gigem: Not sure. I would have to look. I only allow certain inputs to do EIT but even those that clash disable when used by a recording. DVBT only of course. Diseq may block as it is more invasive than a tune.. |
[21:22:55] | gigem: | markspieth: I'm pretty sure the problem is only with diseqc. I'll find it eventually, but someone else who knows that code could probably find it much faster. If I struggle much longer, I'll reach out to Daniel K. |

[21:48:23] | gigem: | stuarta: It probably does, but the conflict handling was all very intertwined with multirec, which was all Daniel. |
[21:48:33] | stuarta: | true |
[21:53:23] | stuarta: | ah, yes, since you have effectively redone multirec, that might explain why it's broken |
[21:54:16] | stuarta: | then does that mean a logical input group isn't being created across multiple diseq inputs? |

[22:24:09] | stuarta: | in fact, i think there are 2 levels of exclusivity here |

[22:25:23] | gigem: | I only reworked a portion of the recorders, specifically, the ChannelBase and derived classes. Previously, a single ChannelBase object would be shared among all recorders for a given device. That's why ChannleBase was so complicated — it had to support switching between different channel sources. Now, only recorders for the same device and diseqc leaf share a ChannelBase object that supports only one |
[22:25:25] | gigem: | channel source. Recorders for the same device, but different diseqc leaves now have different ChannelBase objects. No, the inputgroup entries that tie them all together into one "conflict domain" are getting created. I think there was some extra conflict handling in ChannelBase that I ripped out that handled the EIT case, but I've yet to find it. |
[22:27:51] | stuarta: | so the input group that's being created, does that cover "same device and diseqc leaf" or something else? |
[22:28:04] | gigem: | Yes, only one diseqc destination can be active at a time. That's properly handled for recordings, but not completely EIT. |
[22:30:54] | gigem: | It handles recordings, but EIT is somewhat autonomous. It runs on it's own and is supposed to get out of the way when a recording is scheduled. It's similar to how live TV also works. I think they should all (scheduled recordings, live TV and EIT) be more tightly coupled. I have plans for it, but it a long ways away. |
