[14:33:47] neufeld: Got dropped, so my musings weren't seen. Replaying.
[14:33:49] neufeld: So, I submitted bug #13141 last night. I'd like to try to develop a patch for it.
[14:33:49] ** MythLogBot http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/13141 **
[14:34:11] neufeld: This isn't looking good. There's a table, iptv_channel, that contains the URL of the IPTV box. It doesn't have a key for card ID, so there doesn't seem to be an easy way to distinguish the two tuners in the database.
[14:34:25] neufeld: It appears that I have to find a way to populate this table with two entries per channel. I need distinct chanids for the two tuners. That, or I have to do a lot of database reworking to teach the system about multiple tuners.
[14:34:41] stuarta: ah, i had a question about that
[14:34:53] stuarta: do both "cards" have the same channel lineup?
[14:35:15] stuarta: my first thought was, have they been setup with distinct data sources
[14:35:19] stuarta: ?
[14:35:23] neufeld: No, they have the same channel lineup.
[14:35:37] neufeld: They're on a splitter from the cable company. I want to be able to record two shows at once.
[14:35:59] stuarta: so you have 1 datasource for both cards?
[14:36:03] neufeld: That's right.
[14:36:15] neufeld: They receive the same channels, but from different IP numbers.
[14:36:42] stuarta: i wonder if that is making them use only the first config file...
[14:36:49] neufeld: I was looking around schedules direct, doesn't seem to be a way to create two lineups with the same content. That would give me separate chanids.
[14:37:25] neufeld: So, to populate that table, you have to do a scan in mythtv-setup. Problem is, the entries supercede anything already there.
[14:37:37] stuarta: ok.
[14:37:43] stuarta: what about the iptv setup part?
[14:38:00] neufeld: Sorry, I'm not clear on your question.
[14:38:37] neufeld: The "FREEBOX" devices are set up with different .m3u files, each one with the corresponding correct IP number for the cardID.
[14:39:05] stuarta: that's what i'm getting at, so somewhere along the line it's pulling the config for the wrong card
[14:39:12] stuarta: and just using the first one
[14:39:46] neufeld: No, when you load the channels in mythtv-setup, the one you load last overwrites any corresponding entries from any earlier cards.
[14:40:18] neufeld: It's correctly parsing and using both files. If I stop the channel scan partway through I can actually see a mixture of the two IP numbers.
[14:40:25] stuarta: right, so if the channels are identical, then the channel numbers (not chanid's) are identical, and therefore should use the same datasource
[14:40:47] stuarta: if the channel numbers need to be different you need 2 datasources
[14:41:02] stuarta: biab, have an errand to run
[14:41:04] neufeld: OK.

[14:47:43] neufeld: So, I'm looking at the code for the MythTV release, I've checked out to the revision in the bug report. In that revision, the code in question is at libs/libmythtv/channelutil.cpp:1689 That's where the channel scan is getting loaded into the table.
[14:57:18] ** stuarta yawns **
[15:02:43] neufeld: stuarta: what are my options for getting two datasources?

[15:33:54] stuarta: neufeld: not familiar how you do that with SD
[15:35:18] neufeld: stuarta: actually, I'm testing something now.
[15:35:26] neufeld: Channel scan takes, like 20+ minutes, so it's slow going.
[15:36:19] neufeld: I've created a second data source in mythtv-setup, attached to the same SD listing. I used to do that when I had both SD and HD boxes, so that I wouldn't try to record an HD show from an SD STB. This ought to work...
[15:36:37] neufeld: I'm populating the second IPTV box from the cloned listings source. If that works, I'll update the bug.
[15:36:51] stuarta: that sounds reasonable
[16:09:03] neufeld: Looks OK in the database. I'll test it soon.

[17:32:49] neufeld: stuarta: OK, that worked. The cloned listing has chanids of 3###, while the original has 1###. I can record two different shows, on two different channels, at the same time.
[17:32:53] neufeld: I'll update the bug.
