[00:01:54] tgm4883: enyc: were you able to test a build?

[01:14:25] knightr: gary_buhrmaster, I had to get creative to make it work but the problem is present before the sync with ffmpeg 3
[01:14:40] knightr: so it's a MythTV specific problem...
[01:15:31] knightr: probably some of our custom code...
[01:34:06] gary_buhrmaster: knightr: At least you now know. I do seem to recall various reported issues in MythTV with low bitrate content (and I presume radio will tend to be low bitrate).

[23:47:36] tgm4883: enyc: ok
[23:47:43] enyc: trouble with that packaging approach is — just because the build-dep might get a certain php version installed, doesn't mean its the veriso the user will use
[23:48:16] enyc: you'd eralyl want builds of binaries that work regardless of php5 or php7 being that which gets used, surely ?
[23:48:29] enyc: rather than trying to determine at build-time
[23:48:48] enyc: i can ask wookey for advice on the best-practice approach
[23:49:30] tgm4883: enyc: that detection was added so we know where to drop the mythweb file
[23:49:39] tgm4883: if there's a better solution, I'd like to hear it
[23:49:49] enyc: tgm4883: right, but it seems to be at the wrong time (build time, not install or run time)
[23:49:52] tgm4883: it's all coming back to me now what that was added
[23:50:39] tgm4883: enyc: IIRC, doing it at install time means moving that from debconf to a postinst cp command
[23:50:42] tgm4883: which is less than ideal
[23:50:42] enyc: certainly the current build-dep is wrong, if it has to work that way, it should be changed to php-dev|php7-dev or whatever it was exactly
[23:50:58] enyc: so it doesn't try to install web servers in build chroots
[23:51:56] tgm4883: enyc: I don't see a php-dev for 14.04
[23:53:01] tgm4883: php5-dev
[23:53:20] enyc: silly question but whats' wrong with just always including both variants of the config file (always installing php and php7 config directories)
[23:53:52] enyc: debian stretch, for example has *both* php versions as an option
[23:54:05] tgm4883: enyc: there isn't 2 versions of the config file, there is only 1, but they go in a different location in php7
[23:54:23] enyc: tgm4883: right, i mean... whats wrong with just installing it in both places always ?
[23:54:34] enyc: tgm4883: one will of course get ignored and not matter
[23:54:47] tgm4883: enyc: because it fails if the directory structure doesn't exist?
[23:55:09] enyc: tgm4883: i (thought) dpkg coped with that, if its in the source it just makes directory
[23:55:20] tgm4883: hmm
[23:55:29] enyc: tgm4883: hrrm i search package archives for other packages installing sucrh php configs
[23:55:47] tgm4883: superm1: ^
[23:56:33] superm1: Well that's a good option
[23:56:38] superm1: Just install in both
[23:56:48] superm1: We can make the package structure part of our deb
[23:57:09] enyc: that would rather simplify this a lot ;p
[23:57:26] tgm4883: that works for me, so we'll drop all php build deps then?
[23:57:28] enyc: and get rid of the silly build-dep and all
[23:57:49] enyc: but need to check that works correctly of course
[23:58:06] superm1: Yeah that works for me
[23:58:10] enyc: i probably sohuld try to ask wookey and see if he agrees with that sensible plan
[23:58:23] enyc: he's likely to know, if there is a good suggestion!
