[08:14:40] stuarta: jya: i would agree on the ffmpeg configure issue. the config.mak comes out the same on pure ffmpeg
[08:15:14] jya: stuarta: ffmpeg has accepted my patch
[08:15:58] jya: needs to find out now why's failing to compile on the buildbot when it's working here (either mac or ubuntu 15.05)
[08:16:23] jya: OpenGL playback is broken on my mac (with ubuntu)
[08:16:44] jya: something to do with trying to display in an hidden window which is unsupported
[08:17:18] jya: i don't know if it's the same issue i'm seeing in OS X and would be related to the high DPI screen
[08:17:41] jya: on mac at least I see something, the video typically takes 1/4th of the size of the window
[08:17:41] stuarta: i don't think so, i've seen some oddities since we moved to qt5 exclusively
[08:17:49] jya: which makes sense with a retina display
[08:17:55] jya: on linux I see nothing at all
[08:18:41] jya: i had to use the Normal profile (no OGL) to get a video
[08:20:42] stuarta: https://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/12414
[08:20:48] stuarta: that's one of the oddities i've seen
[08:21:00] stuarta: tho it's been fixed
[08:23:31] stuarta: jya: i'll build it when i get back home (~6hrs) and see how it goes for me
[08:24:03] stuarta: i can check on f22 and linux mint frontends
[08:25:18] len__ (len__!~quassel@67-6-57-212.mpls.qwest.net) has quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
[08:55:58] jya: stuarta: yeah, i get dozens of dbus error
[08:56:24] jya: but that seems to be unrelated to the error. as with the normal playback I see them too, but it works
[09:04:42] stuarta: jya: dbus errors on the mac or on linux frontend?
[09:04:55] stuarta: in theory the dbus code should be disabled on mac
[09:05:09] jya: linux
[09:05:20] stuarta: you will get some warnings on a linux frontend, while it tries all the possible dbus endpoints
[09:06:24] ** stuarta waits for his backend to build the ffmpeg branch **
[09:11:45] jya: stuarta: when i was trying mythavtest that simply exited with no error, all i saw were the dbus error
[09:12:23] jya: i was starting on a brand new machine, with no profile setup. got plenty of segfault due to the audio not being initialised :(
[09:13:01] stuarta: i tried to setup a test for the v4l2 stuff i was looking at the other day. it didn't go well
[09:15:31] jya: damn, my mythfrontend (0.27) doesn't start today
[09:16:00] jya: I hope that starting mythtv-setup on my new box didn't break it ( I had the IP for the backend incorrectly set to the production server)
[09:26:53] jya: weird, it has changed the settings and set the master backend IP to 127.0.0.1
[09:27:01] jya: so no frontend could connect anymore
[09:27:30] stuarta: i'll retry master when I get home first then, to confirm that master at least works from an empty database

[09:28:17] jya: 0.27 frontend looks okay on my MBP retina
[09:28:20] jya: so it's just master
[09:28:34] jya: is anyone actually using master as frontend ???
[09:30:02] stuarta: dekarl might be
[09:30:35] stuarta: i have both co-installed, my prod stuff runs on 0.27 and i can run anything i need on master (my dev instance)
[09:30:50] stuarta: so for me at least, testing is pretty easy
[09:46:40] jya: stuarta: an using a frontend ?
[09:47:35] stuarta: jya: i have both 0.27 and master installed on all my dev machines
[09:47:52] stuarta: so frontend testing is easy
[09:48:07] jya: just that I'm yet to get OpenGL to display properly anywhere
[09:50:56] stuarta: :(
[09:59:09] jya: I'll have a go at fixing it ; but I know very little with OpenGL / QWidget
[10:00:13] stuarta: me too :(
[10:06:31] Roklobsta (Roklobsta!~Roklobsta@ppp118-209-244-7.lns20.mel8.internode.on.net) has quit (Ping timeout: 256 seconds)
[10:08:05] lautriv_: jya, i have frontends running master but fixed to a commit before the dvb-tree broke.
[10:08:37] jya: lautriv_: what display profile are you using ?
[10:10:05] stuarta: lautriv_: have you reported the "dvb-tree broke"??
[10:10:58] lautriv_: jya, all default, just choosed another theme.
[10:11:10] jya: ok... so xv then
[10:11:29] jya: that sucks for playback though :)
[10:12:07] lautriv_: stuarta, it was known before. ran in the issue that my backends could not grab any tuner and asked here, someone told me that is known.
[10:12:22] stuarta: it is?
[10:12:41] stuarta: i think we'll have to explore your issue some more
[10:13:21] lautriv_: jya, to be honest, i never got nay machine (regardless of hardware) running opengl, they crash all on mythfrontend even when glxinfo is fine.
[10:16:36] jya: grmblll ; starting the backend on my mac just segfault
[10:17:17] lautriv_: stuarta, i did reset head to dba6f3bfa8385c9923f526946ebb792199f863a5 where all is fine, somewhen after that there was an attempt to change the view from cards to tuners which had obv. issues on DVB-S(2)
[10:19:46] stuarta: right, i have dvb-s(2) and have no issues, so curious to see what's happening
[10:19:56] jya: ah, it's if mysql is off -> segfault at startup
[10:20:06] stuarta: :-/
[10:23:03] jya: ahhh no; the bug where you enter a window only to go back later and that cause any future keypress to beep is back
[10:23:15] jya: I thought I had nailed that one (though can't remember)
[10:24:14] jya: looks like the focus is on another window. if i click with my mouse anywhere on the screen it's fine
[10:30:50] jya: can't reproduce the BD rip failure
[10:30:54] jya: working all nicely here
[10:33:57] jya: oh one BD rip causes the backend to crash...
[10:40:14] lautriv_: stuarta, i may forward the head of one slave-backend to test the actual behaviour if that helps diagnose ( or maybe grants a working state ) but not sure if the version is able to use the same DB-scheme.
[10:40:58] stuarta: lautriv_: we can stop at the version the db schema changes at, there haven't been any changes that would affect what you see after that
[10:41:11] stuarta: +before
[10:41:43] lautriv_: ok, can you tell me which is the latest commit counting from the above ?
[10:47:24] jya: stuarta: often you have the commit introducing the regression right before the db change
[10:47:37] jya: sounds like the multirec stuff
[10:48:08] stuarta: it's probably the cardinput stuff gigem was doing, but we need to identify what's actually happening
[10:49:15] stuarta: lautriv_: 970bf5cfa7b14a986fe734b8556046b335c92e4c
[10:50:00] ** stuarta goes for lunch **
[10:54:31] lautriv_: set head, configured, now compiling ....
[10:56:08] lautriv_: will take some time, using one job for savety.
[11:18:38] jya: warpme: if you runwith -O FFMPEGTS=1 does it work better for you?
[11:33:10] lautriv_: jya, appears you do many things on the encoding. any idea why a frontend on via eden runs smoother than an intel ? (both xv, via claims 70% CPU, intel just 25% )
[11:38:02] lautriv_: stuarta, that commit want already upgrade DB-Scheme from 1340 to 1342.
[11:38:12] stuarta: eh?
[11:38:46] stuarta: this one does the upgrade from 1340 -> 1341 https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/commit/c98c4 . . . c74b0fdde62d
[11:39:09] lautriv_: no problem in future but if the slave-backend fails on the devicetree i mess with the master.
[11:40:18] stuarta: the commit i gave you, was the parent of the schema update

[12:13:05] stuarta: i'm still surprised it wanted a db update
[12:13:35] lautriv__: no big deal, just if that slave fails but i did a backup.
[12:13:49] warpme: jya: regarding ffmpeg28 and BD rips playback issue: I quickly run with FFMPEGTS=1 in IntelNUC (vaapi). It still hangs but with different error "2015-10–12 14:06:29.738872 E [h264 @ 0x7f4e764fac40] Hardware acceleration context (hwaccel_context) does not exist."
[12:14:18] lautriv__: i guess it would be better to remove all tuners and add new, ensures the bug is gone.
[12:15:59] stuarta: lautriv__: good = not having to change the config to keep things working
[12:17:17] warpme: jya: with playback profile "OpenGL Normal" and FFMPEGTS=1 I have OK playback on NUC however
[12:17:41] lautriv__: stuarta, i remember when that DVB-S2 tree issue happend i was able to see the cards but not access them. right now i deleted all tuners, added this slave for cardid #1 and it worked.
[12:17:41] ** MythLogBot http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/1 **
[12:19:11] stuarta: lautriv__: okay, let us know if you find something that doesn't work

[12:23:50] lautriv__: stuarta, i have to move head on all other backends, then i will test more. mythtv-setup spits "QXcbConnection: XCB error: 2 (BadValue), sequence: 4618, resource id: 1920, major code: 130 (Unknown), minor code: 3" on close

[16:40:03] stuarta: that's far more advanced than building from source, but yes that should work
[16:40:51] WhenInRome: poking a few bytes in libmythtv is harder than compiling everything from source?
[16:41:43] stuarta: for most people yes ;-)
[16:41:58] stuarta: if you know what you are doing, it's far easier
[16:42:33] WhenInRome: I'm considering going all-source, but seems daunting
[16:43:10] stuarta: not really, provided you have the relevant build dependencies installed, it's a simple make; make install
[16:43:53] WhenInRome: so I could have dependencies satisfied with RPMs and then compile just the myth bits?

[16:53:26] WhenInRome: oops
[16:53:30] stuarta: no reason the 21 rpm won't work

[17:29:07] WhenInRome: thus the question about hexediting

[17:36:23] paul-h: stuarta: I think your last commit will create a broken DB schema because not all the DB updates are rolled into InitializeMythSchema() yet so the schema will end up missing updates 1307 up to MYTH_DATABASE_VERSION?
[17:36:42] paul-h: sphery will know for sure ^
[17:44:57] stuarta: paul-h: the way i read the code, it installs 1307, then does the updates to 1342
[17:45:07] stuarta: back later
[17:52:15] paul-h: stuarta: you could be right to be honest I couldn't be bothered to look at the code but I seem to remember sphery saying something about not all the updates are rolled into DB creation code yet
[17:54:22] paul-h: So we create an old schema then have to do all the updates to get to the current one even for new installs
[18:06:18] stuarta: paul-h: correct, currently the initial schema creation dumps 1307, then you startup any part and it asks you to upgrade
[18:06:24] stuarta: which is quite frankly silly
[18:06:48] stuarta: so my change makes it do initialscheme() + update to latest
[18:06:56] stuarta: rather than just initialschema()
[18:07:59] stuarta: on an empty db doing the schema update takes no time at all
[18:08:12] ** stuarta wanders off again **
[18:11:54] WhenInRome: speaking of schema upgrades – does Myth drop tables that aren't used anymore?
[18:17:22] paul-h: It could be done in a schema update not sure if we have ever done it though – I've still got some tables from old now defunct plugins in my schema :)
[18:17:45] WhenInRome: yes I think I do too, from my old 0.21 setup
[18:18:13] WhenInRome: not just plugins
[18:22:33] WhenInRome: old tables, and some obsolete fields, I saw on some cursory browsing with PHPmyAdmin

[20:42:26] stuarta: jya: the ffmpeg resync branch isn't building for me. same error as the buildslaves (failing to link ff_fft_init...)
[20:43:06] gary_buhrmaster: stuarta: I keep thinking that things like firewire device ids need to be externalized/configurable/databaseized (yeah, I know that is not a word).
[20:43:08] jya: Ok. I'll continue working on it tonight.
[20:43:50] stuarta: jya: no rush, i'm studying atm ;-)
[20:44:05] ** stuarta notes his work avoidance is going well **
[20:44:23] gary_buhrmaster: stuarta: I believe I have seen some MSOs update firmware for their STBs that change the device id, and having to patch/build is not optimal.
[20:44:36] jya: stuarta: I get some hang trying to play some m2ts. I have no idea why as I know nothing about the mpeg container.
[20:45:18] stuarta: i have half an idea. dekarl what about you? ^^^
[20:45:42] jya: And there's been very little change done there since the last resync. Maybe time to finally ditch our mpegts demuxer and use ffmpeg one.
[20:46:24] jya: Problem is that I don't what it is that it's missing for our use.
[20:46:43] jya: There's subtitles I believe.
[20:47:00] jya: And also some callback when the stream is changing format.
