Now I want to offer ont only 0.27-fixes build but also master and 300MB is too small for webpage+files. Can anybody advice me for FOC hosting service?

[14:50:28] stuartm: themes will need updating to add a white background to these HD transparent icons ...
[14:56:45] dekarl: Do we have a channel icon guideline? I'm thinking about guidelines for picture aspect, power of 2 pixel count, icon safe area, whether there should be a HD/SD variant, etc
[14:57:09] dekarl: Well, not "do we have" more of a "can we have" ;)
[14:58:00] dekarl: http://xmltv.spaetfruehstuecken.org/xmltv/00logos.html I made them so the SD/HD variant are identical, but with a HD added to the picture, but now the SD icons are a bit squeezed into the corner
[14:58:28] dekarl: and the square logos are BIG while the wide logos are tiny
[14:59:19] dekarl: I'm tempted to throw all icons that show "HD" away and use one icon for both simulcast channels
[15:00:26] dekarl: One suggestions for the guideline could be "the icon has a ratio of x/x opaque/transparent pixels"
[15:01:25] stuartm: dekarl: no there's no guideline, we just use whatever lyngsat give us
[15:01:57] stuartm: and no, we can't really control what is uploaded to lyngsat ...
[15:04:04] stuartm: I'm now having second thoughts about using the 'High Res' icons at all, there are increasingly channels which have a highres icon but no low res version, so we'd have no choice but to settle for that, but most of the time the low res version is available and preferable for all the reasons you mention
[15:04:38] stuartm: stuarta: do you have a backup of the services icon database?
[15:04:55] dekarl: hmm, wanted to look where kodi gets its icons and found this http://picons.bitbucket.org/
[15:05:21] dekarl: my line of thought being that if we look at their themes for inspiration, we might look at their icon themes, too
[15:08:41] stuartm: dekarl: honestly I think that's a dead-end, lyngsat provides more than 58,000 icons covering almost all channels in the world – I'm not aware of any source that comes close, let alone hand-crafted 'themed' icon sets
[15:08:41] dekarl: their wiki refers to pulling zips from their forum :/ http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=86047
[15:09:16] dekarl: stuartm, I agree. but the lowres logos are ugly
[15:09:24] stuartm: even the icon sets I've seen people create for the UK only cover the major channels
[15:09:52] stuartm: dekarl: considering they aren't actually displayed fullscreen I can't say I've found the resolutions to be a problem
[15:10:09] dekarl: ok, so I'll put the icon topic onto the back burner (chicken vs egg problem, like its with metadatabases :(
[15:10:54] dekarl: well, they don't have icons for the time sharing channels. but IIUIC that is no issue in the UK
[15:11:27] dekarl: e.g. https://github.com/dekarl/egonzappt-logos/blo . . . mobil.de.svg
[15:13:16] stuartm: dekarl: in theory there's nothing stopping us mapping individual channels to other icons – the current code allows for multiple icon sources, we pull icons from 4 sources – including a managed source for Swedish icons
[15:16:06] dekarl: looking forward to being able to peek at that code once git is migrated :)

[18:10:19] jpabq: dekarl: yes, that looks like the correct change.
[18:10:46] dekarl: ok, I'll add some spaces in front of the return while there
[18:10:51] jpabq: :)
[18:34:04] stuartm: dekarl: had an idea, why not download both versions of the channel icon, then for stuff like the guide where the icon is small and must be a regular aspect ratio you can use the low-res icon, and for display in the OSD or next to program info the themer has the option of using the high-res image with transparency etc
[18:34:44] stuartm: I'd actually call the later the channel 'logo' as opposed to the regulation size 'icon'
[18:35:29] dekarl: stuartm, I like the idea of having a "compatible with what we got now" and one "looks great in the OSD" representation
[18:36:28] dekarl: been thinking about automatic channel collapsing (via call sign) based on the new data in atlas (I'm researching how to get my stuff up there)
[18:36:56] dekarl: they have machine readable data that connects the various channels together (e.g. regional variants, SD/HD, +1, +24)
[18:37:32] dekarl: need to looks if the have the DVB triplets. If they have we could harvest their data, too

[20:17:50] cap: I'm trying to decide how to build a mdeia center so first on the list of hardware is a TV Tuner. I'm looking at http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVB-T_USB_Devices

[20:28:14] gigem: The configuration code to handle cloned virtual tuner cards is ugly, ugly, ugly! I really want to finish the 'minimal' card/input merging first, but the urge to rewrite it with a proper parentid is growing.
[20:28:28] gigem: Could someone explain to me how multi-input, DVB cards work? The initial input is named 'DVBInput'. Additional ones named 'DVBInput #1', 'DVBInput #2', etc. can also be configured. Is the meaning of 'DVBInput #?' managed outside of MythTV? I can't find any other uses of it within MythTV.
[20:28:43] stuarta: multi input or multi rec?
[20:29:10] gigem: multi-input, e.g. I assume a DVB card with multiple, physical inputs of some sort.
[20:30:08] gigem: If such a thing doesn't really exist, I could throw away some of the changes I just made.
[20:31:13] stuarta: hmmm, well the only 1's i've seen present themselves as 2 distinct tuners
[20:31:32] gigem: That's what I'd expect.
[20:31:41] stuarta: however it may be worth an email to -users as someone there might know of such a beast

[20:33:39] gigem: Hold on while I try to see there a little more info I can get from the existing code.
[20:44:46] gigem: It looks like it might have something to do with diseqc and tuners attached to lnbs and switches.
[20:45:25] gigem: Oh, well. What I have now should work, so I'll just keep it for the time being and fix it later if it doesn't.

[21:21:56] gigem: stuartm: I know about that, and can, mostly, deal with it. It's the management of cloned cards that is ugly. Rather than add a capturecard.parentid to unambiguously identify cloned cards and their parents, Daniel hard coded things such that for all cards on the same host with the same videodevice, the first one is the parent and the rest are clones. It can work, but it's got a lot of corner cases where
[21:21:59] gigem: weird things can happen.
[21:26:54] ** stuarta hands over the broom of code cleaning **
[21:27:34] gigem: stuarta: I intend to take a big machete to some of the code, eventually. Right now, I'm trying to mainly make the schema changes with the smallest, accompanying code changes I can make and get them tested and committed. Any big API and other architectural changes can come later.
[21:27:47] stuarta: cunning plan
[21:37:16] dekarl: btw, re schema change, is there any timeline on the change of recordedseek from chanid+starttime to recordedid? I just looked at the numbers and that would reduce my largest (by far) table to 24/40 of its current size. (1G to 600M)
[21:40:56] stuarta: woot. sorted another issue on the long road to further deployment
[21:45:17] gigem: stuarta: I had to leave for a quick status meeting. To answer your other question. inputgroups could possibly handle it, but not currently without fixing the cloned input logic. Since adding the inputname to the host/device mix is smaller, quicker and easier, I'm going to continue with that unless I find that it can't work.
[21:45:51] stuarta: gigem: feel free to attack it anyway you see fit

[21:55:03] dekarl: I think I found the culprit for slow playback start in loading the seektable. some time ago the duration for the sql query jumped to around 20s when it has to hit the disk. My guess is that it grew to big for some cache value

[23:37:07] stuartm: ok, icon matches should now be better, especially for short strings like "RT" – all results containing "RT " e.g. "RT English" will appear first in the results, then "RTE 1" with matches which just happen to contain the string e.g. "Sport 1" being pushed way down the results – previously Sport 1 was the first result
[23:38:12] stuartm: as before the longer, less generic the name of the channel the better it will be at matching, exact matches will always appear first
[23:40:28] stuartm: there's definitely still room for improvement, e.g. I'd like to see all matches containing " RT " appear before matches containing "%RT%" – so "Channel RT 1" would appear above "ART"
