[10:15:41] dekarl: kormoc: -^
[10:16:41] paul-h: Roklobsta: what version of php are you using? Looks like you need PHP 5.4 or later
[10:21:47] Roklobsta: hang 2

[10:22:49] Roklobsta: ah poop 5.3 in Muthbuntu 12.04
[10:23:12] Roklobsta: also 0.28 is getting a lot of tuner timeouts in a nonregular fashion
[10:23:37] Roklobsta: yeah ok, looks like upgrade to 14.04 is needed anyway
[10:25:02] Roklobsta: that patch was 15 days ago
[10:25:14] Roklobsta: hmmm, i'll look into it after dinner
[10:27:01] paul-h: you may be able to change it to use an older syntax http://php.net/manual/en/language.types.array.php
[10:32:08] dekarl: Roklobsta: 12.04lts is supposed to be supported until 15.04 IIUIC
[10:33:12] Roklobsta: yes
[10:33:24] Roklobsta: well, looks like defines.php is ok
[10:33:35] Roklobsta: has ( instead of [
[10:33:45] dekarl: aye, someone contributed a patch
[10:33:57] Roklobsta: so something else is wrong
[10:34:15] dekarl: aye: mythweb/classes/UPnP/Client.php on line 53
[10:34:23] Roklobsta: yes
[10:34:27] Roklobsta: but why
[10:34:30] dekarl: its the new create or append to array syntax
[10:34:36] Roklobsta: i am no phper
[10:34:48] Roklobsta: WAF is low
[10:34:50] dekarl: I learned that from the patch that I commited :)
[10:35:03] dekarl: yes, that was the reason to look into it for me, too
[10:35:10] dekarl: where are you seeing the error?
[10:35:18] dekarl: aka, "works for me"
[10:35:20] Roklobsta: when i try to load mythweb
[10:35:31] Roklobsta: which we use a lot
[10:36:55] dekarl: strange, latest mythweb worksforme on Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS
[11:14:48] Roklobsta: indeed
[11:42:57] Roklobsta: it did for me to until i rolled back to 0.27 then got stuffed by the schema incompatibility then rolled forward to 0.28 then no more mythwb
[11:44:34] stuartm: Roklobsta: you may be able to use the WebFrontend instead, it's not feature complete but at least it works
[11:44:48] Roklobsta: what is the url
[11:44:51] stuartm: {backendip}:6544
[11:45:32] Roklobsta: oooooo
[11:45:34] Roklobsta: shiny
[11:46:15] Roklobsta: nah we use the scheduling in mythweb a lot
[11:46:24] Roklobsta: and to stream recordings to vlc on laptops
[11:46:40] fetzerch (fetzerch!~quassel@unaffiliated/fetzerch) has quit (Ping timeout: 250 seconds)
[11:46:43] stuartm: you can schedule through the webfrontend
[11:47:38] Roklobsta: yeah i just saw
[11:47:47] Roklobsta: it feels clunky though
[11:50:07] stuartm: how so?
[11:50:18] Roklobsta: slow
[11:50:21] Roklobsta: on my i7
[11:50:27] Roklobsta: not very smooth animations
[11:50:51] stuartm: lightning fast here, but Safari is a pretty slow browser so maybe that's the reason
[11:51:04] stuartm: animations will be optional in the final product
[11:51:17] fetzerch (fetzerch!~quassel@unaffiliated/fetzerch) has joined #mythtv
[11:51:34] Roklobsta: mozilla here
[11:51:45] stuartm: ok, that's odd then
[11:51:54] Roklobsta: it's like 1997
[11:53:27] stuartm: using an old AMD 2X 2.5Ghz here, smoothest in Chromium and Opera (25), but not much slower in Firefox
[11:53:58] Roklobsta: well mozilla is fine for everything else. very odd
[11:56:06] dekarl: Roklobsta: easiest might be to just hardcore the db server credentials to skip the UPNP lookup and move on
[11:56:21] dekarl: oh and UPNP on master works well for VLC (ios)
[11:56:51] dekarl: https://github.com/MythTV/mythweb/blob/master . . . f.apache#L66
[11:57:01] Roklobsta: well it's weird. it worked in 0.28 ->downgrade to 0.27 and schema fail so -> back to 0.28 and KABOOM.
[11:57:41] Roklobsta: something got broken
[11:58:01] dekarl: maybe you replaced custom changes by up/downgrading the mythweb package? who knows
[11:58:29] Roklobsta: i don't do custom on any of that
[11:58:47] dekarl: I just looked ito it to understand why I'm not seeing the error and noticed hard coded db settings
[11:59:24] dekarl: Maybe it was the initial installation script? I don't remember to manually set them either :)
[11:59:29] Roklobsta: i think i'll take a deep breath, back up the database, wipe, install 14.04 and hope all is well after that
[12:00:25] Roklobsta: i went to 0.28 to get libcec to work but now the recordings are failing
[12:00:31] Roklobsta: tuner timeouts
[12:00:44] Roklobsta: want to go back to 0.27 but can't because of schema
[12:01:10] dekarl: sounds like a plan, too. if you can sneak a "try the upgrade path from 12.04.xLTS to 14.04.1LTS" and report any fallout to the mythbuntu project, that might be appreciated
[12:01:42] Roklobsta: oh wow that'll probably cause more trouble ;)
[12:01:54] Roklobsta: ubuntu upgrades have always been traumatic
[12:02:11] Roklobsta: i can do that though
[12:02:41] Roklobsta: oh no, my blasted / drive doesn't have enough space for the upgrade packages
[12:03:22] Roklobsta: "unexpected '['" is weird though
[12:04:09] Roklobsta: do you have experience with btrfs for the recording storage?
[12:05:41] dekarl: is btrfs even consiedered production ready? i thought everyone uses xfs or "default" on ubunru
[12:06:18] Roklobsta: heh
[12:06:19] Roklobsta: well
[12:06:22] dekarl: why is it weird? its new to php 5.4 syntax and unexpected on pgp 5.3 iiuic
[12:06:44] Roklobsta: but on line 53?
[12:07:00] dekarl: $ips[] = thisnthat....
[12:07:18] Roklobsta: but i thought i had the patch to fix that
[12:07:20] Roklobsta: anyway
[12:08:01] dekarl: ahh the commit was to config.php only ;)
[12:08:34] dekarl: easiest will be just hardcoding the settings to skip the upnp part
[12:09:15] Roklobsta: tomorrow morning i'll have 14.04 on and it'll all be good
[12:09:48] Roklobsta: hopefully the recordings won't time out and i can focus on getting the pulse8 cec thing working
[12:10:07] Roklobsta: i am using afatech dual tuners and they have been sketchy
[12:10:16] Roklobsta: always

[19:12:44] stuartm: so I have SSL working with the internal webserver, much easier than I expected too
[19:14:47] stuartm: well the actual QT ssl bit was easier I mean, not integrating it with the internal webserver which took a lot more work than expected ... and is a bit of a hack

[21:32:55] stuartm: dblain: the way the socket access occurs in a different thread to the actual server etc mean I couldn't contain the SSL code to ServerPool or it's underlying PrivTcpServer as I'd originally wanted, instead I ended up moving some stuff to HttpServer and HttpWorker to make it all work
[21:35:13] stuartm: originally I'd hoped to make the SSL transparent to the higher level classes, we'd setup an encrypted socket at a low level and higher level code would just read/write without knowing what was going on underneath
[21:35:39] stuartm: it's still possible to achieve that, but it would mean a larger refactor which I'm just not prepared to do at this time
[21:36:51] stuartm: the rest of the work was just converting the http server to work with QTcpSocket instead of the old BufferedSocketDevice, again I wasn't anticipating that before I started, though it was mostly painless and straightforward
[21:47:01] stuartm: dblain: by no stretch of the imagination was any of this difficult, there were just some bumps in road as I realised my initial plan and work wasn't going to work out, the extra work isn't reflected in a much larger patch, it's still pretty small since QT is doing all the hard work
[21:48:45] stuartm: once I've fixed all the links in the webfrontend to be protocol agnostic and added a simple UI to configure the key/cert info I'll push it to the devel/http_ssl branch
[21:49:46] stuartm: will be taking a look at the possibility of allowing users to create basic self-signed certs through the UI too
