[00:09:51] jya_: superm1: I’ve noticed the focus issue occurring sometimes… especially if started from the command line… having said that, i haven’t had it since I made the changes
[00:12:01] NightMonkey (NightMonkey!~NightrMon@pdpc/supporter/professional/nightmonkey) has quit (Quit: Body blow! Body blow!)
[00:21:49] wagnerrp: trouble brewing on the mailing list...
[00:24:06] superm1: jya: is there a raise() or activate window or something you can call?
[00:26:17] skd5aner: which mailing list
[00:27:41] wagnerrp: http://www.mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-users/ . . . /364482.html
[00:28:58] jya_: superm1: i found that raise() or setFocus() makes no difference
[00:29:06] skd5aner: meh... makes for good people watching
[00:29:09] jya_: i can give you a patch to try I had running before
[00:32:14] jya_: wagnerrp: that comes from the same guy complaining that metadata fetching doesn’t work when his file name do not even have the info to find
[00:36:20] jya_: knightr: would it be possible to get an extra string translated this commit 937c5469c8acc79aa122e3de71a56a1771596b58. i want to backport it to devel/027candidates
[00:44:52] knightr: jya, you can add it and I will let the guys know it was added, it's somewhat expected that some things will be backported fro master back to the fixes branch and will add some strings during the life of the fixes branch... (usually fixes and not new features and in this case it seems to be something that was added to fix a problem (I think I read about this in the forums))...
[00:44:52] jya_: superm1: how annoying.. this morning, the full screen bit do not work anymore :(
[00:45:11] jya_: ok thanks.. will do now
[00:45:29] jya_: how long does it take usually to have them translate and you regenerating the file?
[00:45:50] jya_: dont want to delay 0.27.1 too much, will postponed only if it doesn’t take too long
[00:45:52] knightr: don't wait for them to submit their translations to cut the resulting branch, it could take a while before everybody has time to do it...
[00:46:01] knightr: ROTFL
[00:46:27] jya_: how do you regenerate the international stuff?
[00:46:30] knightr: I was actually writing this as you were writing your question... :)
[00:46:40] knightr: I only do it
[00:46:46] knightr: when they submit a new translation
[00:46:56] knightr: it doesn't need to be regenerated
[00:46:59] knightr: when they don't...
[00:47:06] knightr: it's actually some sort of database
[00:47:18] knightr: which only has the entries
[00:47:29] knightr: for the strings which are different from the US English strings..
[00:47:38] knightr: if they haven't submitted a new translation
[00:47:46] knightr: the database will be identical
[00:47:52] knightr: and doesn't need to be regenerated...
[00:48:07] jya_: ok.. pushed
[00:48:27] knightr: the only time WE need to regenerated
[00:48:33] knightr: ups
[00:48:35] knightr: oops..
[00:48:43] knightr: is for MythWeb
[00:48:56] knightr: s/regenerated/regenerate
[00:49:07] knightr: as for MythWeb, if we don't regenerate
[00:49:18] knightr: we get errors all over the place for the missing strings...
[00:49:48] skd5aner: jpabq: I've had several issues in the past with inappropriate artwork. The most recent was when I recorded a single recording of "60 minutes" (an extremely popular news show in the US)...
[00:49:53] knightr: I will write them a little something
[00:49:56] knightr: to let them know...
[00:50:08] knightr: but we can't wait for them
[00:50:16] knightr: to release the update
[00:50:24] knightr: as it will take waaaaay too long...
[00:50:34] knightr: we would have had to warn them in advance...
[00:50:41] skd5aner: jpabq: instead of getting something like this: http://thetvdb.com/banners/fanart/original/73290-2.jpg , I got something like this: http://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/6q56mCVLBJ . . . fxt8ScDG.jpg
[00:50:44] skd5aner: terrifying
[00:50:52] superm1: jya_: yeah I noticed it launched full screen more consistently if launched from desktop file too. If you run through appearance settings to the end it refreshes and goes full screen too
[00:51:46] skd5aner: my wife wasn't too pleased when she was scrolling through looking for osmeting for my 2 year old daughter to watch, and all of a sudden – bloody murder
[00:52:20] skd5aner: Took the inetref for 60 minutes from thetvdb and pulled back artwork from tmdb
[00:53:09] jya_: knightr: I didn’t know that string would exist until last night
[00:53:24] skd5aner: wagnerrp, stuartm: also, did you guys fix the issue where it was picking the least popular artwork rather than the most popular artwork? I'm beginning to think that in 0.27-fixes, it's still picking the least popular
[00:53:25] knightr: nici o problema...
[00:53:33] knightr: I mean, no problem...
[00:54:08] jya_: skd5aner: wagnerrp : surely, i can’t be hard to add that if the code believe it’s the TV series and get the inetrf from there, not to use that number from tmdb...
[00:54:26] knightr: we try to target major release for translations, what is release between version is a lot harder to do something about...
[00:54:39] skd5aner: yea, this is a 4 year old problem... not really sure why someone hasn't found the time to look at it
[00:55:02] skd5aner: the first time it hit me was when Sportscenter came back with this: http://www.themoviedb.org/movie/77967
[00:55:10] jya_: no one cares enough by the look of things
[00:56:10] jya_: superm1: interestingly, if I remove the fix that allows to change between full screen and window.. then it works just fine
[00:56:32] jya_: maybe I can add a quick/dirty patch, to use one method at startup, and another later
[00:57:01] skd5aner: jya: guess not. Until someone who has the ability to fix it has it happen to them when their kid scrolls through and sees the image for "anal acrobats 2" instead of "Seasame Street" or whatever
[00:58:51] jya_: superm1: it doesn’t appear to consistently work anyway… i read on stack overflow that people put a timer for full screen to work consistently and call showFullScreen after one 1s only
[00:59:12] superm1: Wow that's annoying
[01:01:11] wagnerrp: jya_: not really. just prepend the executable name to the returned inetref, and then pull it back out again to run it
[01:01:30] wagnerrp: plus a schema bump to update all existing inetrefs in the database
[01:04:21] jya_: i don’t see why you would need a schema update just to make sure the grabber doesn’t retrieve an inetref of a TV season for a movie
[01:04:25] jya_: makes no sense at all
[01:05:02] jya_: the stuff already know if its a TV series or not…
[01:05:21] jya_: so pass an argument to the grabber using the inetref adding if it’s TV or not
[01:05:33] jya_: no schema change, no new nasty surprise
[01:05:52] jya_: i’m not talking of fixing what’s already in, but to make sure it doesn’t happen again
[01:08:23] knightr: jya, candidate will be merged into 0.27-fixes like "verrrrry sooon now TM", right?
[01:08:43] knightr: so I can ask the guys to translate against -fixes once you merge, right?
[01:08:46] jya_: well, i was hoping so yes
[01:08:54] knightr: okie dokie, thank you!
[01:09:01] jya_: problem is the more I wait, the more broken things i find and i want fixed
[01:09:17] knightr: there will always be a 0.27.2...
[01:09:20] jya_: which then gets into the infernal cycle on that the fix breaks something else and delays everything
[01:09:28] knightr: yikes...
[01:10:02] knightr: you might want to give yourself some sort of deadline and some sort of self-imposed freeze
[01:10:05] knightr: to avoid this...

If you are interested in ticket cleanliness, there are some other tickets with milestones that are not going to make it that should be changed, and some I think will get resolved by your other fixes (so could likely by closed). I like ticket cleanliness.

[02:03:27] jya_: gary_buhrmaster: fwiw, i did review those tickets…
[02:06:05] gary_buhrmaster: knightr: I suspect deadlines and freezes work better with a more regular release cycle. When the next release may be 8 months away, there is a temptation to get it fixed when the fixing is good. But then more regular releases means a more work. Rock, meet hard place.
[02:06:36] knightr: gary_buhrmaster, I was suggesting he did that for himself
[02:06:42] knightr: as he needs to decide

[02:09:06] jya_: had enough of all those issues plagging the code making it non-user friendly
[02:09:48] jya_: hard to get to use a solution, when its plaggued with issues or requires 100s of workarounds to get to work properly and specific hardware.
[02:10:12] jya_: that there’s continuous talk about disable barriers (wtf is that really), using SSD for database and the like
[02:10:20] jya_: none of which were a problem before
[02:14:32] gary_buhrmaster: jya_: From my experience, 0.27 was one of the most capable/stable ever. 0.27.1 looks to be even better (thanks in a large part due to your fixes). And while I have never seen many of the problems others have seen (full disclosure, I never use LiveTV), I tend to run on systems with a bit more resources than some do. If one wants a hobby, run MythTV on their iWatch (and there is nothing wrong with a hobby). But if one wants it to just work, s
[02:17:26] jya_: 0.27 had significant regressions… making it unsuitable for many people: iptv broken, can’t watch recordings due to stutter and playback exiting early.. none of which were in 0.26
[02:17:35] jya_: hopefully, all those are gone

[07:55:11] SteveGoodey: Below that is SRG-Swiss Jazz. Is this the channel name as known by Mythtv?
[07:55:31] SteveGoodey: When that entry is expanded there are two IP addresses. Are they from the two Mythtv boxes where the
[07:55:32] SteveGoodey: icon selections were made?
[07:55:53] SteveGoodey: Against each of the two IP addresses there is a block link. Is this to stop further submissions from that Mythtv box?
[07:56:11] SteveGoodey: On the entry for 10:10;4 which has two icon submissions there are two channel names. SRG-Swiss Jazz and RTL 102.5 Tv.
[07:56:25] SteveGoodey: Is this because 10:10:4 has had a channel change, From SRG-Swiss Jazz to RTL 102.5 Tv or vise versa?
[07:56:34] stuartm: SteveGoodey: yes, top name is the 'icon name', the one below is the name as it appeared on that mythtv box, the IPs belong to the boxes from which the submissions were made
[07:57:36] stuartm: SteveGoodey: where you've got two different names/icons like that then yes, it's likely that it once broadcast one channel and now broadcasts another (or the channel changed their name/branding)
[07:58:12] stuartm: and since we don't currently record the date and time of the submission we cannot tell which is the more recent submission
[08:00:01] stuartm: in those cases, for now it's best to leave them unapproved – I will be adding timestamps to submissions soon and then I'll purge some/all of the old, unapproved submissions so we can regain some control

[08:08:05] stuartm: oh missed the question about blocks, yes, you can block IPs, that's really for the case where they appear to be submitting bad matches for multiple channels, maliciously or otherwise
[08:08:55] stuartm: blocking the IP will remove all submissions made by that IP and prevent them submitting new matches for a period of time
[08:16:34] SteveGoodey: stuartm: Thanks for that. Channel change ones I've been leaving. Would be nice if I could find a list of channelid/serviceids.

[14:06:45] jya_: dekarl: feel free to do whatever you think is best… live TV is indeed an important aspect of the new release
[14:07:45] jya_: i think I nailed the compiz/unity issue not going full screen…
[14:12:57] jya_: stuartm: any particular reason we don’t allow to resize the main menus when application is “windowed”?
[14:13:24] jya_: and while at it? what’s the point of setting a window size smaller than the current screen but borderless?
[14:13:47] jya_: and if we go full screen, do we really want to have the option to make it “windowed” (with border) ?

[14:24:56] stuartm: jya_: the UI is based on the assumption of fixed images sizes etc, we can allow resizing the window but we'd have to rescale and recache those images – it's possible, but atm not very practical, especially with the QT painter
[14:25:16] stuartm: with GL we'd just be able to scale the images/textures on the fly
[14:25:55] stuartm: jya_: overscan – overscanning TVs require a window size smaller than the total screen area but without a border
[14:26:01] jya_: ok… because right now, using the steppes theme, i simply enabled resizing, and implement the resizeEvent(), seems to work well enough
[14:27:10] jya_: it’s not super fast, but what I did is set a small timer, so it will redraw once you’re done resizing the window and refresh about .5s later. it’s not pretty but it makes resizing simple
[14:27:18] jya_: but I’ll park that for the time being
[14:27:38] jya_: just htought that while I was at mythmainwindow, I could get this done too
[14:28:03] stuartm: I've got one or two things planned for 0.28 which might make resizing more practical (faster, more reliable)
[14:28:58] stuartm: jya_: want to create a ticket and attach the patch? I'll take a look when I come around to the gl texture stuff
[14:29:16] jya_: will do
[14:29:43] jya_: hmm.. not sure what I’ve done, but full-screen with border now never display the border
[14:35:18] dekarl1: stuartm: QTPainter must die +1 :)

[15:13:13] jpabq: dekarl1: I agree --- and I don't. The GL painter does not work over x2go. At least I have not been able to get it to work. I have read that it used to work, though, so maybe it is possible. That being said Qt makes a mess of Steppes.
[15:15:24] jya_: jpabq: at present, the opengl painter gives me the best result with AMD opensource, nvidia both proprietary and nouveau and intel
[15:15:33] jya_: Qt does weird thing
[15:16:04] jpabq: Yes. The *only* reason I use Qt is for a remote session like x2go.
[15:17:42] jya_: even over ssh now, OpenGL works well
[15:17:49] jya_: ssh -X
[15:18:39] jya_: not that i can do much after it’s started
[15:19:15] jpabq: Even with compression, ssh is much slower than x2go when drawing X stuff over the internet. It does work though.
[15:19:33] jya_: oh, triied opengl2 painter, it crashes over ssh
[15:20:03] jpabq: I am not saying don't get rid of the Qt Painter, I am just pointing out that even in it's current semi-broken state, thare is a use-case for it.
[15:20:45] jpabq: jya_: I read the release notes. Looks good.
[15:20:53] jya_: xbmc gives me a nice window stating that you need openGL…
[15:21:20] jya_: seems that the opengl2 painter expect the openGL extension to just exists, and failed miserably when they don't
[15:21:26] jya_: shouldn’t be hard to fix
[15:21:44] jya_: jpabq: thanks.. if you see anything more to add
[15:34:55] jya_: anyone using TwinView ?
