[09:21:45] warpme: jya: yesterday I was trying to find particular commit causing livetv channel stutter regression and with single commit removal strategy I can't find it. I applied however lastest commits ( dddf14c, 8c17413 1da2a0e) and results seems to be good: stutering only on 2–3 channels (and not always); program transitions as seemless (on majority channels). Test was brief – but current code looks very promissing :-)
[09:22:52] jya: warpme: thanks for reporting back...
[09:23:11] jya: today I was getting a bit wary with that code... spent too much time on this.. a tad frustrating
[09:24:22] warpme: jya: also there is speedup in channel change: on mpeg2 channels channel change is 1–1.5sec! (including CAM descrambling). On H264 and the same mplex is is like 2–3sec. On H264 & different mplexes it is like 4–7sec.
[09:24:43] jya: that much difference?
[09:25:24] warpme: You mean mpeg2 vs H264 or the same mplex vs diferent mplex?
[09:26:04] jya: there was indeed an issue when changing program, where it would wait for nothing. I explained the problem a couple of days ago... I rewrote that part, so there's no unecessary wait. It could still be improved I think, but it's a compromise between time to spend on the issue, and how useful it really is
[09:27:24] warpme: exactly!. You've done GREAT work. Many ppl will discover this as one from biggest improvements in 0.28
[09:27:37] jya: i still need to find a way to get the proper bitrate for a liveTV stream. Right now, it's defaulting to a 16kB packet for each read. Because in live TV, at least here, it estimates a 8Mbit/s stream to be only 700–800kbit/s
[09:28:02] jya: I still have the intention of backporting most of those to 0.27, unless 0.28 comes soon
[09:28:41] jya: I'm glad you're not having major pause rewinding between program like you described yesterday...
[09:29:19] jya: I did nothing today, as I didn't want to continue in a direction of design that could have been all wrong (and I thought it was based on your report, and gigem 's one
[09:29:42] warpme: my hunch telling me that bitrate issue can be corelated with channel change stutter :-P
[09:30:30] jya: stuartm: gigem : is there a way to interrupt EIT scanning? on my dev box, I have only one tuner card. And if EIT scan is kicking in and I start liveTV, I often wait over 20s for playback to start. While it would normally take 4–5s
[09:30:38] nyloc (nyloc!~quassel@p3EE2C538.dip0.t-ipconnect.de) has joined #mythtv
[09:30:38] warpme: jya: give me 1–2 days for more extenssive tests. I'll report feedback here.
[09:31:10] jya: warpme: well, we are now far closer to live than we used to... In fact, there's almost no delay at all (even if it shows 3–4s in the OSD), it's typically less than .5s
[09:31:25] jya: so it's still a bit fragile. I'm still tweaking that area
[09:31:26] _nyloc_ (_nyloc_!~quassel@p3EE2C538.dip0.t-ipconnect.de) has quit (Ping timeout: 252 seconds)
[09:32:51] jya: In RungBuffer::CalcReadAheadThresh() ; there's a 0.35s constant defined. It was supposed to be how much time we would buffer. In practive, that value was really ignored and it was more like 2–3s
[09:32:57] jya: now 0.35s, is really 0.25s
[09:33:02] jya: oops 0.35s
[09:33:25] jya: so stutter if there's any hickup *will* happen. The difference is that it will recover much faster now
[09:33:50] warpme: jya: regarding EIT – I have many scenarios like You described as my first in LiveTV priority tuner is also tuner doing EIT. I dont remember issue like You described. OTOH – I have also applied #10076 (for power saving). You can use approach from $10076 to minimize collission between LiveTV and EIT scaner (oryginally I developed $10076 exactly for this purpouse)
[09:33:50] ** MythLogBot http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/10076 **
[09:35:06] jya: that's a big patch!
[09:35:43] jya: and mostly duplicated code.. surely you can do better !
[09:36:02] warpme: :-)
[09:36:27] jya: I mean surely you can reduce the size of that patch by 50%
[09:37:34] jya: I just want EIT scan to be interrupted if we start liveTV and EIT is currently running
[09:37:42] jya: so the card is immediately available
[09:37:58] jya: that if EIT is being done on the card going to be used for liveTV
[09:38:53] warpme: yeah. I developed it iitially as workarround – so functionality was priority. As I can test it only on production machine – downtimes by optimization errors were not worth of optimization...
[09:42:11] warpme: jya: let me check how it goes in my system. I'll try to turn-off time-windowed EIT, provoke some EIT-LiveTV colissions and see how it goes. Maybe there is regression in current 0.27 masked for me by #10076 functionality (currntly I have EIT window at 1:11AM-5:07AM, and usually all users are sleeping in this time)
[09:42:11] ** MythLogBot http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/10076 **
[09:42:53] jya: warpme: you mentioned you had clients reporting problems with the audio... what exactly do you do?
[09:43:51] warpme: jya: btw: all my LiveTV tests are on current 0.27 + backported commits from master. This should give us confidence that nice LiveTV stuff works ok not only on master but also on 0.27.
[09:44:37] jya: if you are using devel/027candidates; I haven't backported all the changes from master yet
[09:44:48] jya: but if things are working for you, I will
[09:44:57] jya: didn't want to backport stuff, only to revert it later
[09:49:52] warpme: jya: I'm aware about 0.27candidates – but my approach is diferent: I'm on official 0.27 + all changes I done/need applied by patch by patch. This is because me fe is minimyth2 (I'm developer of it). mm2 relays on cross-compile GAR enviroment and this approach is little easier form me...
[09:51:11] jya: ok
[09:52:40] dekarl: warpme, btw http://minimyth2.linuxd.org/ links to http://livepage.apple.com/ instead of http://www.minimyth.org/
[09:54:35] warpme: jpabq: I was forced to quickly revert 642c55801b and 7abf18a165 as on some channels it causes problems with recording duration (35min show is 6h41min); playback skiping forward/back and looped old/new keyframes during livetv channel change
[09:57:35] warpme: dekarl: yeah. On some browsers there is issue. It works OK here. Whole issue is partially as I don't have good hosting here. My ISP offers 300MB hosting space but with with his domain+userid. This looks bad so I use domain refirection at http://freedns.afraid.org. I simply lacking free hosting here :-(
[09:58:09] warpme: s/refirection/redirection/
[09:59:08] warpme: dekarl: on what browser You are trying to?
[09:59:35] dekarl: warpme: Firefox on Mythbuntu
[09:59:53] warpme: I tested it on Safari/Firefox/chrome – all under OSX. Firefox also under windoze
[10:00:55] runelind (runelind!~my_cool_u@unaffiliated/runelind) has joined #mythtv
[10:03:54] warpme: dekarl: regarding #9726: I using it 24/7 on my production system (4xDVB-S2 via SCR). Works beatifully. I do performance tests: 4x daily 16 concurently starting recordings during 3 weeks – no single missed rec (so no failed tuning). All this was with all patches mentioned in #9726 + 1 additinal patch for delaying concurent recordings.

[11:16:22] stuartm: how hard is it for broadcaster to use UTF8?
[11:16:49] dekarl: 1<<15 collides with the 16bit service_id<<0 due to the assumption of "The service_id is a 13-bit field. Free bit number 15 is used here to determine that the data releate to transponder, which sent the EIT, and not the program. "
[11:17:16] dekarl: stuartm, why should they? After all they want you to stay in their walled garden

[11:30:52] jya: dekarl: is that with the HLS recorder or the HLS player in myth?
[11:31:17] warpme: dekarl: lastly You mention that blocking thing for #9480 is lack ot test unit as You affraid fixing #9480 can regress on other fixups/countries. I think we can split #9480 activity into 2 phases: first-fix 9480 code; second – write test unit. I propose to change nly order of work. [17:13:47] warpme: jpabq: should it be sample of recording with wrong duration?
[17:14:50] jpabq: I would like to have a raw sample directly from the input device if possible. If not, then I can try something that myth has already processed.
[17:23:57] warpme: jpabq: will cat /dev/dvbx > file.raw be enough?
[17:26:34] jpabq: warpme, I don't have not tried that. It is worth a try though.
[17:29:05] jpabq: My ATSC card which uses a 'dvb' driver doesn't create devices like that.
[17:32:10] warpme: jpabq: ok. I'll try this on evening – but first I have to manage to tune DVB tuner via cmd line (szap or dvbsnoop). For this I have to generate current canals.conf from myth DB. Give me pls some time for all this....
[17:32:32] warpme: s/canals/channels.conf/
[17:34:07] jpabq: warpme, I do have a patch for myth, which enables a 'profile' that tells the recorder to dump a 'raw' ts alongside the actual recording. That might be easier. It works with DVB and HDHomeRun inputs. I was hoping to commit that to master today, anyway...
[17:35:52] warpme: jpabq: this would be nice. Is this code ready to include into production BE+keep it here or rather I have to build separate temp. package?
[17:38:28] jpabq: I will commit it to master here in a few minutes. Normally I use the 'default' recording profile. With this, I configure the '
[17:39:12] jpabq: 'high quality' recording profile to enable the TS capture. Then when I setup a recording I choose the 'high' recording profile, if I want raw TS.
[17:39:44] jpabq: This is based off of work Daniel did — I just expanded it to be useful with DVB and HDHomeRun inputs.
[17:43:43] jpabq: warpme, I just pushed it.
[17:54:26] warpme: jpabq: perfect. thx. I'll back port it to 0.27 and will try capture some data. On commit desc. I see "To make sure the entire stream is
[17:54:26] warpme: capture, make sure a recording is enabled for each 'program' available on
[17:54:27] warpme: the transport.". molex I want to capture has 5 HD channels with my subscription. Should I schedule 5rec schedules or only 1 will be enough for You?
[17:54:55] warpme: damn s/molex/mplex/

[17:57:18] gigem: wagnerrp_: I tried to hit all of the ones were obvious (to me) and were already using MYTHCONFDIR. I'll do tvdb_api_%s shortly. Thanks for pointing it out.

[22:26:05] Tobbe5178: file was generated by the php code in ticket 11487
[22:26:49] Tobbe5178: urls look a bit wierd but thats because they contain a service ref that enigma2 uses to start streaming on the right channel
[22:27:04] Tobbe5178: string contain pids and service id
[22:28:43] Tobbe5178: anyway, getting the m3u file to load is just the first part, i used a workaround to continue the testing by using a local m3u file
