I would trust any of our regular translators without problem but he has yet to proove

[17:34:33] wagnerrp: turns out when i mounted this board, the little flap on the IO shield for the keyboard jammed into the PS/2 port, shorting something
[17:46:43] stuartm: dekarl: I've already done so in another case
[17:47:28] stuartm: we may as well make use of all the beneficial features of forums :)
[17:48:52] Captain_Murdoch: stuartm, there's no reason I think we should allow duplicates, I thought I had a check somewhere else, but memory is a bit foggy. My plan was to totally get rid of that table with the new on-demand code since we'd just generate segments on demand and multiple clients could be watching the same stream, even at different non-contiguous positions with a non-transcoded break in the middle (like if one skipped forward in the stre
[17:48:52] Captain_Murdoch: am).
[17:50:46] Captain_Murdoch: jya, purpose of the sync in another thread is because the sync could take a long time and we didn't want that to hold up the write thread. might not be as much of an issue these days or with current code, but that's why it was put in its own thread to begin with.
[17:51:44] dekarl: stuartm: I think so, too. It also helps with keeping links working for old posts (not that we have old posts already) which is driving me crazy when I'm looking for solutions and only find old broken links...
[17:52:38] stuartm: ok, will push my fix, no matter how temporary it might be – while testing the hls code I've managed to add the same stream more than once and the results aren't pretty – two transcode jobs trying to write to the same files, it doesn't cleanup properly if you manage to stop the jobs, but some of the time it just ignores the stop requests
[17:53:08] dekarl: Can I slap the Bluray consortium for not making the tagging of the *video* track language mandatory?
[17:53:34] stuartm: oh that reminds me
[17:53:44] Captain_Murdoch: ok, fine by me. I'm looking at another round of OS upgrades just to keep current, 2–3 of my current systems can't even run 0.27 due to Qt requirements. I think the patch by warpme makes sense to get faster transcoding, but I haven't applied or tested.
[17:53:45] wagnerrp: it's probably embedded somewhere in the java application that runs the menu
[17:53:58] dekarl: got 5 copies of the video times 5 perspectives to choose from... Not going to try out all 25...
[17:54:17] wagnerrp: why bother with standards, when you're packing the video with your own playback manager
[17:54:37] stuartm: peper03, stuarta: noticed with a DVD last night that we're not always selecting the first subtitle track in the correct language, sometimes it's the second track which is often empty
[17:55:13] dekarl: accessibility ;)
[17:55:17] stuartm: dekarl: video tracks can have language?
[17:55:38] wagnerrp: but accessibility works just fine on native players, right?
[17:56:35] dekarl: stuartm I have some discs around where the on-screen texts are localized.
[17:56:49] dekarl: e.g. the intro with the movie title
[17:57:28] Captain_Murdoch: jya, and by having our writes be not blocked by the sync, it allows us to write to clear our buffer and let the OS buffer the data, otherwise our buffer could fill up waiting on the sync.
[17:57:33] dekarl: I've not yet noticed fully localized movies, but for CGI titles I don't see a reason not to provide them
[17:58:34] stuartm: dekarl: ah, that makes sense
[18:07:16] dekarl: stuartm, from my understanding bluray titles are basically playlists of many snippets, allowing to switch to multiple different streams and back to a common stream many times. Like regional TV channels where many programs share all streams until they are branched out for local news. But with shorter segments
[18:09:53] stuartm: dekarl: yeah that's correct
[18:10:20] stuartm: allows them to include the directors cut on the same disk as the original (in some cases), thus saving space
[18:12:49] dekarl: in the end it depends on good mastering. tv series could share the intro sequence between episodes, too
[18:14:14] dekarl: stuartm, btw. the cppcheck/coverity reports include (at least) the images via http thus leading to a security warning
[18:14:29] stuartm: thanks, will fix
[18:16:12] stuartm: oh this is driving me crazy, we're passing -1 for samplerate into the HTTPLiveStream constructor, it's not modified at any point, yet at some stage the value in the database is set to zero instead

[18:18:21] stuartm: it's marked as unsigned ...
