[00:00:13] bobweaver: dblain, can you add gcc to qtcreator and add a virtual machine for *nix or is that you what do >?
[00:00:22] bobweaver: in windows ?
[00:01:00] bobweaver: or is that what you do *
[00:02:36] dblain: bobweaver: Never used qtcreator. I generated vcxproj & sln files from the .pro files which are visual studio project, solution files. (then resolved all the resulting compile problems)
[00:06:11] bobweaver: thanks dblain

[00:10:56] knightr_: peper03, jya_ is right, you should use placeholders in the translated strings and fill them in using .arg() (tr() returns a QString), a string should never be built by contatenating together multiple words... Not all languages have the same phrase structure as English so what would work for English would not in another language... (and even if the structure was the same, translating parts of sentences makes it very hard to the translator to understand
[00:10:57] knightr_: what the complete sentence is...)
[00:11:59] knightr_: butfor the "menu" string earlier your idea of translating the "root menu", "psrt menu" was the best...
[00:12:14] knightr_: s/butfor/but for
[00:13:15] knightr_: (with what I know of Slavic languages it's quite possible using "%1 menu" could have caused problems...

[14:49:38] peper03: stuartm: The error messages 'In DVD Menu: No video frames in queue' are probably due to [010a87db] (https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/commit/010a87db). [15:54:59] stuartm: I think I'll start bisecting to find the problem commit
[15:57:04] knightr_: stuartm, Hi! Sorry to bug you... Who knows what to do to cut the alpha (Paul found a release script and this seems to be the right script) and the access to modify the site and put the release tar balls on the OSUOSL Ftp site?
[15:57:06] stuartm: to be clear, I haven't found a single DVD where menus work properly
[15:57:52] stuartm: knightr_: it's a small crowd, myself, Beirdo – maybe xris and stuarta have the necessary perms too
[15:58:48] knightr_: ouch...
[16:01:02] knightr_: the script seems to be pretty straightforward to run and I guess we all can run it but if those steps aren't performed it hasn't been really released... :-(
[16:01:50] knightr_: and at lest two of the people you mentionned are MIA AFAICT...
[16:02:25] peper03: stuartm: Very odd. All the DVDs I've tried have worked. Other than the issue I mentioned with flickering sometimes.
[16:03:51] stuartm: knightr_: I can do it, I'm just not promising to do it before the stroke of midnight, I might find time tomorrow though
[16:04:22] knightr_: stuartm, If I ran the script tonight do you think you could make the announcement tomorrow (I am not sure what to do about the release tarballs though..)
[16:05:02] stuartm: if someone else wants to run the script and build the tarballs, I can make sure they are placed on the server
[16:05:29] knightr_: stuartm, that would do to and you could take care of the release tarballs...
[16:05:31] stuartm: if someone wants to write a news article too, I can make sure it's published
[16:06:45] knightr_: For the news article I can take a look at what we usually publish and craft one up I think...
[16:07:04] knightr_: Thank you, that's a relief!
[16:07:24] stuartm: all together it's not much work, it's just something that's best not hurried, too easy to make a mistake and tarball the wrong thing etc
[16:07:54] stuartm: anyway, I need to get back to what I was doing :)
[16:08:38] knightr_: yep, it doesn't seem to be too bad and the script seems to be doing most of the work... It's just that most of us can't do all the steps involved in releasing the result...
[16:08:45] knightr_: Once again thank you!
[16:09:58] stuartm: the release script should probably be improved to do everything automatically on the server, pull a clean copy into a temp folder, build the tarball then copy it to the correct directory and finally ask OSUOSL for an early resync
[16:12:50] stuartm: knightr_: in an ideal world everyone would have the perms to do everything, but we try to keep it limited for security, not because we don't trust all the devs but because too many open source projects have had their tarballs/website/repos hacked indirectly by first compromising the computer of a developer (or simply lack password habits by some of their devs)
[16:13:47] knightr_: problem is everybody including non-devs see the scripts so it shouldn't contain stuff we don't want everybody to see..
[16:14:34] stuartm: that's only because the script is in the repo, a compromise would be for the script to read in a configuration file which isn't published
[16:14:34] knightr_: stuartm, is is possible (or is it already setted up) to have a part of the wiki only accessible to devs (ie that we would need to logon to see)?
[16:15:05] stuartm: it's probably possible with a plugin, but not in the default mediawiki software
[16:15:32] knightr_: drats.. Thanks...

[18:25:44] stuartm: peper03: that worked
[18:28:58] peper03: stuartm: Good and bad :-/ The problem is that the single still image has been received by AVFormatDecoder but buffered (because you're using VDPAU) and not yet passed on to the player. Now the player has no more frames left and AFD is blocked waiting for DVDRingBuffer to return (which in turn is waiting for the player).
[18:30:15] peper03: I've found one DVD that exhibits the problem but that patch breaks playback for another :(
[18:30:57] stuartm: any idea why it wasn't a problem before?
[18:31:56] stuartm: I had no problem with any of these discs about 4–5 weeks ago
[18:32:57] peper03: The still frame handling was a bit different. The still frame timeout value should only apply from the last frame. Before, we were starting the timer at the first frame. Usually there is only one frame, but it's not a given and it was causing choppy playback. I changed the handling to be 'correct' but it's a bit of a rat's nest.
[18:33:11] stuartm: ah
[18:35:13] peper03: I can get AVFormatDecoderDVD to detect that the ring buffer is waiting but I can't see any clean/generic way of getting that information back to AVFormatDecoder. When it's waiting, AFD should flush its buffers.
[18:36:34] peper03: The only thing I can think of is to repeat a bit of the ::GetFrame code in the DVD class. GetFrame is so long and twisty, it's quite hard to add any sensible hooks in there.

[20:44:06] Captain_Murdoch: paul-h, if anything, on 11400, I'd say he needs to retest with master since we've had multiple ffmpeg updates since 0.25 and the audio code has undergone major revisions since then.
[20:50:19] Captain_Murdoch: stuartm, I think we should come up with a generic download-redirect solution which would allow us to set URLs to our server, but redirect to URLs on the OSU mirror. I've been wanting something like that for the themes so that we could track downloads. we do do something now for our release tarballs, but it's not a generic solution. I'm thinking something like www.mythtv.org/download/themes/0.25/sometheme_0.26.zip or www.myt
[20:50:19] Captain_Murdoch: htv.org/download/release/0.26/mythtv.0.26.tar.gz and we'd redirect to the proper OSU mirrored file automatically based on the path after the word download.
[21:07:30] paul-h: there's a lot of tickets that just seem to keep getting bumped from one version to the next :(
