[04:45:38] jya: wagnerrp: I think instead of trying to re-invent the wheel, we should just look at what xmbc has done. I mounted my video folder to my apple TV using xbmc… it then scanned the lot. Not one single error. It worked brilliantly. It recognised TV series vs movies … On Myth, for the majority of my videos there was manual work involved. Usually doing a search, then selecting which entry to use because there are conflicts.

[12:40:44] sphery: dekarl: that's the (relatively) new code that's supposed to write the duration in milliseconds (mark type 33 = MARK_DURATION_MS) for display during playback. Perhaps it's getting called twice or something?
[12:45:15] dekarl: I've looked at it a bit and it seems to properly clear out old data first. maybe the map really contains duplicate entries?
[12:49:52] sphery: dekarl: what if you add pginfo->ClearPositionMap(MARK_DURATION_MS); at line 46 of http://code.mythtv.org/cgit/mythtv/tree/mytht . . . main.cpp#n39 ?
[12:50:25] sphery: I'm guessing it gets put in once by the transcode, but also gets put in by the seektable rebuild after transcode?
[12:51:09] sphery: not sure that's the proper fix--would be good to find out why it's in twice--but it might help to figure out what's really happening
[12:51:40] dekarl: I can try, but SavePositionMap deletes before updating...
[12:52:00] dekarl: doh, and by updating i mean inserting
[12:53:39] dekarl: http://code.mythtv.org/cgit/mythtv/tree/mytht . . . fo.cpp#n3525
[12:55:19] sphery: yeah, doesn't look like it would help--and makes me wonder why the other 2 are explicitly cleared, first
[12:55:46] sphery: ah, wait, yeah--that's just converting the map to the new one
[12:56:02] sphery: so, ignore that
[13:24:04] dekarl: lets see, we insert the counter as key and the position as the value, if its a key frame (AV_PKT_FLAG_KEY), in addition we always insert the counter as key and the duration from beginning as value. in the same map.
[13:24:04] dekarl: when writing the map to the database we ... insert the key as "mark" and the value as "offset", the database tables primary key contains the mark but not the offset. how could that have ever worked?
[13:25:08] dekarl: basically each duplicate key in the frm_pos_map_t will result in a collision in the database
[13:28:05] dekarl: I think the proper fix is to have two separate maps for MARK_DURATION_MS and MARK_GOP_BYFRAME instead of putting both in one map
[13:42:27] sphery: That actually makes me wonder why it's even inserting a MARK_DURATION_MS into recordedseek... I assumed it went to recordedmarkup since it's not seek data. I thought we now only put MARK_GOP_BYFRAME in recordedseek.
[13:42:40] dekarl: now trying http://pastebin.com/FNNY8XHC
[13:43:10] dekarl: isn't it used for "5 minutes forward" style seeking?
[13:44:12] sphery: it's used for display and perhaps as a hint for determining "average" fps or bps or something, but it's still not seek data on its own
[13:44:20] danielk22 (danielk22!~danielk@exchange.wgen.net) has left #mythtv ()
[13:45:12] dekarl: I have no idea of that part of the code base. but if its supposed to go to different tables we still need to keep separate maps :)
[13:47:11] sphery: might be cleaner to make a new function for updating the duration--and wouldn't even require a map because there's only one value for it
[13:47:35] sphery: rather than just mixing it up in the same function with seek data (especially since it doesn't seem that was the proper place for it before)
[13:48:11] dekarl: its a map for frame number to timecode
[13:48:44] sphery: but isn't there just a single value for MARK_DURATION_MS?
[13:49:22] dekarl: its the totalDuration up to each frame
[13:49:43] sphery: ah, then it would make sense for it to be in recordedseek
[13:50:04] sphery: I thought they just did the total duration of the whole recording and averaged from there
[13:50:10] sphery: didn't know it got changed
[13:50:16] dekarl: hmm, should that be the time code when the frame ends being displayed or when it starts? ;)
[13:50:36] dekarl: aka, is the first duration 0 or 1/frame_rate
[13:50:37] sphery: was stichnot the one who added the "for each section" part?
[13:50:52] sphery: if so, should probably ask him what he thinks
[13:51:03] dekarl: he commited it as part of #10104

[13:53:09] kwmonro`` is now known as kwmonroe
[13:54:11] dekarl: stichnot, should the map contain the timestamp of each and every frame or just key frames? the comments and the code appear to implement it differently. and should the time code be the start or end of the frame duration? Just moving the map inserting up to the "if (keyframe)" part seems to be an option
[14:00:03] stichnot: sphery, dekarl: trying to catch up...
[14:10:45] stichnot: dekarl: recordedseek used to contain just MARK_GOP_BYFRAME entries, one entry per keyframe. http://code.mythtv.org/trac/changeset/49dbed5 . . . d7935/mythtv added MARK_DURATION_MS to track timestamps for each keyframe. Generally, for every keyframe, there will be two entries in recordedseek, one for the file offset and one for the millisecond timestamp.
[14:11:38] stichnot: What happens when you "describe recordedseek;"? All columns except offset should be marked as Key=PRI
[14:12:49] stichnot: sphery: you're probably thinking of MARK_DURATION_MS in recordedmarkup as opposed to recordedseek
[14:13:19] dekarl: aye, checked that earlier. the primary key is all but one column
[14:15:36] dekarl: stichnot: thats the commit I'm looking at. "posMap.insertMulti(count, totalDuration); " is not inside a "if (pkt.flags & AV_PKT_FLAG_KEY) " like "posMap[count] = pkt.pos; " is
[14:17:20] stichnot: dekarl: ah, you mean the "XXX untested" section? :)
[14:17:36] dekarl: exactly :)
[14:17:48] dekarl: i have now tested it
[14:18:49] stichnot: ok, that makes a lot more sense now. I wasn't able to test mythtranscode at all before of this AC3 problem. Let me have another look...
[14:46:23] stichnot: dekarl: I see three problems (so far). First, as you said, adding totalDuration to the map should be guarded by (pkt.flags & AV_PKT_FLAG_KEY). Second, there should be two frm_pos_map_t objects passed around, one for position and one for duration. Third, totalDuration will suffer from cumulative floating point error and needs similar treatment to http://code.mythtv.org/cgit/mythtv/commit/?id=5cc

[15:03:57] stichnot: dekarl: I also have to check whether that 1000000 constant is still valid
[15:03:59] dekarl: stichnot: no details on the segfault. so the time code of the first frame is 1/frame_rate?
[15:04:27] dekarl: aka the totalDuration gets stored in the map after the frame duration has been added to it.
[15:04:36] stichnot: dekarl: I can't remember :)
[15:04:56] dekarl: I'm just wondering as I remember time codes to start at 0.
