[02:25:16] wagnerrp: i could limit it to only those in the database, rather than the "special" storage groups

[03:16:10] neufeld: OK, mythtv/programs/mythbackend/scheduler.cpp, the method Scheduler::CalcTimeToNextHandleRecordingEvent(). The fourth parameter, prerollseconds, is not used. So, it returns a number that assumes that parameter is zero. This means that, in Scheduler::run(), the scheduler goes to sleep for too long around the first LOG() line, so the RecordPreRoll parameter doesn't actually work. I don't see it fixed in git. Shall

[17:41:17] danielk221: Beirdo: #11110.. This seems to have started after the zeromq logging branch merge. It stopped happening for me, but I think the underlying problem is still there but we're only in the state where this can occur for a short time.

[18:10:18] Beirdo: one moment :)
[18:10:40] Beirdo: I have never ever seen this on my systems
[18:10:52] Beirdo: I don't know what causes it.
[18:11:35] Beirdo: it's signal 34
[18:11:52] Beirdo: according to the exit code. We could add a handler for that signal
[18:12:43] Beirdo: or just set it to ignore that signal, I suppose
[18:13:07] Beirdo: I'll make a patch for that this evening, too busy at work to look at doing it right now.
[18:14:35] Beirdo: is it always Real-time signal 0? (as opposed to 1, 2, etc?)
[18:15:16] Beirdo: maybe I should put a ignore handler on SIGRTMIN to SIGRTMAX (34–64)
[18:16:03] Beirdo: seems to be limited to kernels with real-time extensions enabled (like current Ubuntu kernels), I think.
[18:17:26] Beirdo: yeah, default action for all of those is process termination
[18:17:50] Beirdo: and they are "additional application-defined signals provided by POSIX 1003.1b"
[18:18:06] Beirdo: well, it's our application, let's define em.
[18:20:00] Beirdo: anyways, this needs imminent attention, I'll get to it tonight or tomorrow at the latest, although I can't really test the results as I can't reproduce. I'll get a patch ready at least
[18:22:54] Beirdo: I'd like to know where the signals are actually coming from though

[18:45:25] danielk221: Beirdo: Hmm. We're not sending these signals and I assume Qt isn't or there would be a handler... So where are they coming from? Anyway, I believe I've only seen Real-time signal 0, not any of the higher numbered ones.

[18:55:25] gary_buhrmaster1: I believe that the first few SIGRT<mumble> signals might have been used (on early kernels) for LinuxThreads (which are mostly replaced by NPTL, but your kernel will vary).
[18:55:26] Beirdo: but first, firefighting exercises in code at work ;)

[19:17:29] Beirdo: Cool. I know who to talk to once I have a patch ready :)
[19:29:13] danielk221: Beirdo: For debugging you should be able to specify use of LinuxThreads with "export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19"
[19:35:01] Beirdo: yeah, but I don't think that's necessarily the issue. I'll be sure to test in both LinuxThreads and NPTL though. My devel box could use an upgrade to 12.04, I guess...
[19:35:16] Beirdo: there should be a way to fix this :)
[19:36:16] danielk221: Yeah, seems odd that a modern Ubuntu would use LinuxThreads...
[19:36:55] Beirdo: it's more likely that somethin NPTL is now using a RT signal it didn't used to, or something like that
