danielk22: I tried an hdpvr live TV program transition using the XVideo renderer (Slim profile). On the ION frontend, playback stuttered a lot as expected and continually drifted behind real-time, so it was hard to accurately observe things. When I tried to catch up to real time after the program transition, it froze and eventually dropped out with the "video frame buffering failed..." message.

ikke-t: it's an internal state used by the scheduler to mark when a program that was previously in the future was missed because the master backend had crashed or was hung. the user should never see that state, so you really don't need to bother with it.
