[17:12:43] markk: stuartm: was wondering how you might react to that :)
[17:15:14] stuartm: I shouldn't care, I've pretty much left Terra to rot so I don't really have the right to complain, but I can say with absolute certainty that the textarea in question is the right width (I got a lot of feedback about that specific aspect)
[17:16:21] stuartm: either he has the wrong font or he's locally amending it to display AM/PM – if it's the latter then why not maintain the area change locally too
[17:17:12] stuartm: still, there are more important issues to get worked up about
[17:17:16] taylorr: Is Terra still the default theme for new installations?
[17:17:26] stuartm: sadly yes
[17:18:08] taylorr: heh, IMO we should move it back to MythCenter which still needs a lot of work
[17:18:33] taylorr: I think Terra is a nice looking theme though
[17:18:51] stuartm: I regret ever allowing it to become the default because I just ran out of time and interest in making it work (I've worked up some fixes locally so that it will be a little better for 0.25)
[17:22:11] sphery: I say no way on MythCenter. We want to move forward, not backwards.  :) We need to encourage new themes, not rehashes of 0.16 themes.
[17:22:43] taylorr: we already tried that with a contest and didn't get much in return, IMHO
[17:23:23] stuartm: I was going for something substantially different with Terra, both to demonstrate new capabilities and to provide some real choice – at the time you could have any theme you wanted as long as it was blue and looked a lot like every single other theme – I made some bad choices though since I was trying to create it alongside working on mythui and those choices were both aesthetically wrong and made it very hard to layout certain screens in a
[17:23:24] stuartm: consistent style
[17:23:57] stuartm: it really doesn't help that I'm far from being an artist
[17:24:19] taylorr: the only devs with good UI design and artistic capability are stuartm and iamlindoro, but they've been demotivated over time due to users endless complaints (ie. the background is broken in ArcLight)
[17:25:08] stuartm: sphery: MythCenter isn't a rehash of a 0.16 theme, it's worse, it's a rehash of an old Windows Media Centre theme
[17:25:22] taylorr: I think MythBuntu is a nice theme with some of the newer elements
[17:26:13] taylorr: but Mythbuntu doesn't provide near as much useful info as ArcLight – all themes in the future should try to be as complete

[17:55:20] stuartm: taylorr: that depends what you mean by useful info, some stuff can just be meaningless clutter to a non-technical user

[21:15:23] stuartm: xavierh: right, percentages are relative to the area of the parent, since the buttonlist is scaled to the proportion of the buttontree area (2 columns = 50%, 3 = 33%, 4 = 25%) each buttonlist in your example would be (1264 / 2) and each column half of that again
[21:17:58] xavierh: stuartm: make sense now, thanks. If I understand, I should be able to make the same xml file for 4:3 and 16:9 If I use correctly the percentage ?

[21:44:05] xavierh: s/to/two
[21:46:04] stuartm: doesn't look like you can currently query the number of lists, generally that stuff is deliberately unavailable to keep the the code using widgets simple and less prone to breakage if the themer does something legal which the screen developer hasn't anticipated – the whole data vs UI model argument
[21:50:57] andreax (andreax!~andreaz@p4FC12B30.dip.t-dialin.net) has joined #mythtv
[21:52:14] stuartm: xavierh: to get the root node (actually the first node after the root) for a particular node you could use something like "while (parent = node.getParent() && parent.currentDepth() > 1)
[21:53:08] stuartm: only not that exact example, since it's ugly
[21:54:47] xavierh: I don't know If I have been clear, I am loking for the root node from what the tree is displayed, not the root of the whole generictree, does this code do this?
[21:55:28] stuartm: ah
[21:55:38] xavierh: stuartm: I don't mind ugly atm, I could eventually create a signal in MythUIButtonTree for rootChanged or similar

[21:59:03] markk: I thought you might say that:)
[21:59:08] taylorr: In all seriousness I haven't played much with trunk in a while... what are you seeing?
[22:01:35] stuartm: no, as it currently stands there is no way of doing that, unless you set some sort of flag on the screen nodes so that when nodeChanged is sent you only update that helptext if we changed to a new 'screen' node
[22:02:47] markk: taylorr: only some dvd rips – they don't want to do normal time based seeking (e.g. skip forward 1 minute). Instead they always seek to the next chapter. Set a bookmark and it always starts at the next chapter. Very annoying when you're trying to capture that one forced subtitle:)
[22:03:06] markk: bookmark – i.e. nearest next chapter
[22:04:02] stuartm: xavierh: are you assigning a struct or similar to the QVariant of each node?
[22:05:56] xavierh: No I inherit fro MythGenericTree
[22:08:07] stuartm: xavierh: I can probably suggest a solution which doesn't touch mythui but I'll need to look at the patches you've added to the ticket first to see what you've already got, it's late here so that would be sometime tomorrow
[22:08:37] xavierh: stuartm:The reason being I tried to change as less as possible globalsetting.cpp so it is easier to convert to mythui
[22:08:56] xavierh: stuartm: are you base in UK?
[22:09:25] xavierh: stuartm: I will attach a cleaner version tonight then
[22:09:25] stuartm: xavierh: yes, I'm in the UK
[22:10:26] taylorr: markk: that's very odd... are the videos telecined (ie. have repeat_pict set)?
[22:11:27] taylorr: I believe -v playback,timestamp --loglevel=debug should show if it is
[22:12:27] taylorr: sounds like a frame->timecode or timecode->frame problem which exists if it's telecined
[22:15:11] markk: taylorr: looks like straightforward pal
[22:15:55] taylorr: markk: make sure the detected frame rate is correct
[22:17:14] taylorr: markk: also run mythffmpeg -i and see what the frame rate is detected as
[22:20:49] markk: taylorr: everything looks fine 720x576, 25fps, interlaced, no repeats
[22:21:14] kormoc (kormoc!~kormoc@mythtv/developer/kormoc) has left #mythtv ()
[22:23:13] taylorr: markk: if there isn't anything that causes frame->timecode conversion issues then I'm out of ideas
[22:29:52] taylorr: markk: if you rip a straight VOB does it have the same issue?
[22:33:07] markk: taylorr: I'll have to dig the dvd out of the packing somewhere. the logs do mention that there is some reordering going on – possible relevant?
[22:33:40] taylorr: markk: dunno, is that libav messages?
[22:34:28] markk: no – avsync stuff
[22:34:47] taylorr: markk: could you post the log or just that message?

[22:51:31] taylorr: markk: the "reordered active" just means we are using reordered_opaque timestamps which are preferred
[22:51:59] taylorr: the timestamps look correct
[22:52:42] taylorr: they are always on a ~40ms interval which matches the frame rate
[22:52:56] taylorr: did these videos used to seek correctly?
[22:53:53] markk: taylorr: not sure to be honest
[22:56:05] taylorr: markk: does seeking using the number of minutes followed by 'i' work properly?
[22:58:16] taylorr: markk: what is the "start_time" provided by mythffmpeg -i?
