[00:01:52] dblain: iamlindoro: Nice! Saw your mention of it in the hdhomerun channel. Didn't know you used the Service API to implement it. Glad to see it being put to use.

[08:41:02] xavierh: stuartm: Yesterday you said that lirc while be handle by the kernel and that keystroke will be generated (removing teh need for /led/lircd). Have you got any info about it?
[08:42:21] stuartm: xavierh: not will, is right now in kernels from at least 2.6.36 iirc (or 38)
[08:43:10] xavierh: I know that lhe lirc driver are in the kenel 2.6.36, but /dev/lircd is still in use, isn't it ?
[08:45:24] stuartm: xavierh: it's available if you want to use lircd, but if you disable lircd then keypresses will be sent instead
[08:46:13] stuartm: normally it's configured so that the lircd init script disables the keypress behaviour when lirc is enabled so that you don't get doubled keypresses
[08:47:34] xavierh: Ok thx
[08:48:57] stuartm: there are still reasons to use lirc for now, e.g. if like me you're using the frontend on one screen while working on another (devel setup) and you want the remote to only control mythtv :)
[08:50:25] stuartm: or there's the possibility (very likely) that the keypresses sent by the kernel aren't one of those handled by X11  – it only deals with the first 256 valid keycodes, ignoring the rest and this won't get fixed until X12 sadly
[08:53:54] ** stuarta yawns **
[08:54:02] xavierh: I thought that was a problem with qt, not x11
[08:55:55] stuartm: no, it's X11 unfortunately
[08:57:13] stuartm: it was news to everyone, especially those developers behind the kernel IR work
[08:57:36] xavierh: but qt is doing a mapping too, I though that some x11 key are not supported but qt
[08:58:44] xavierh: bottom line, I can stil use lirc as a proof of concept anyway as we can not which remote control is sending whet
[08:58:52] xavierh: s/whet/what
[08:58:52] stuartm: qt will still pass through keys it doesn't understand, just labelling them 'Unknown' but including the keycode
[08:59:15] xavierh: Ok, I didn't know that
[08:59:37] xavierh: Can we now in qt which keyboard is sending the key?
[08:59:49] xavierh: I didn't see anything like this

[18:25:17] stuartm: xavierh: there are other uses of MythUIButtonList where it would perhaps be unexpected for it not to wrap, e.g. toggling through a 'selector' style layout where only one item is displayed at a time, if the others on the same page allowed changing of the value through wrapping then it's confusing and not obvious behaviour
[18:27:45] stuartm: I think Robert best summed up the reason why it's better as it is now – "the user becomes accustomed to the buttonlist behaving a certain way, and then it conditionally doesn't work that way"

[18:37:11] xavierh: what about a different wrapping style?
[18:37:41] xavierh: To be honest, I don't plan to spend that much time on this anyway

[18:47:59] stuartm: I don't think there's enough of a difference in behaviour to justify a new wrap style
[18:57:19] xavierh: I guess you can close this ticket, I won't be upset (too much)

[20:07:06] prologic: wagnerrp, then in that case, this is not a user issue, but one for you guys – I can lodge a ticket if you like ?
[20:07:22] prologic: I don't have the vdpau library installed on my system (yet) and the compilation tried to use it and link against it
[20:07:41] prologic: iow configure ditn't pick up the fact of the missing library
[20:07:44] wagnerrp: configure already has linked against it successfully
[20:07:57] wagnerrp: otherwise it would have marked it disabled
[20:11:21] wagnerrp: if the check is in fact not being performed, then there is a problem
