[14:52:29] iamlindoro: something... bad... is happening with trac
[14:52:37] iamlindoro: http://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/9223#comment:38
[14:52:48] iamlindoro: I am about 99% certain mark didn't put that spam youtube link in
[14:53:35] iamlindoro: hmm, never mind, I guess he did
[14:53:54] iamlindoro: my bad-- just scared me for a second when the weirdo who added the "yeah it's fixed" remark to his spam
[15:02:21] skd5aner: man – now I have kool and the gang stuck in my head :/
[15:06:35] markk: yes – that was me...
[15:06:50] markk: seemed like a good idea at the time
[15:07:06] iamlindoro: markk: haha, nah, it was only scary for a second in the context of the spam remark added just now
[15:07:24] elmojo: markk: looks like our get_avf_buffer and the libavcodec/utils.c avcodec_default_get_buffer are very different
[15:07:35] iamlindoro: Made me fear someone had gotten the capability to edit existing comments, which we'd never manage to catch since there's no notification
[15:09:10] elmojo: markk: looks like they added an internal_buffer in the AVCodecContext structure that our custom get_avf_buffer doesn't do anything with
[15:10:32] elmojo: markk: nevermind, we use pic->type FF_BUFFER_TYPE_USER and they use FF_BUFFER_TYPE_INTERNAL
[15:11:12] elmojo: dunno, maybe that's the issue
[15:11:31] markk: elmojo: heh – you got there just before me. looks like the pic age and last_pic_num are probably relevant though
[15:11:52] markk: iamlindoro: do you still have your twitter plugin stuff?
[15:12:08] elmojo: I'll be honest I haven't looked much at that code in the past so I really don't understand what I'm looking at :)
[15:13:21] elmojo: wonder why we need to perform our own buffer management anyways
[15:13:26] markk: any idea what reget_buffer is all about?
[15:13:32] elmojo: no idea
[15:14:04] elmojo: I do believe we are in the right area though :)
[15:14:56] elmojo: #define INTERNAL_BUFFER_SIZE 32
[15:15:13] elmojo: so by default ffmpeg has an internal buffer size for 32 pics
[15:15:16] iamlindoro: markk: there's a ticket for it, I haven't done anything with it since though-- If it's something you have an interest in I would much prefer to reimplement it using a different twitter lib
[15:15:18] andreax (andreax!~Andreaz@tmo-100-24.customers.d1-online.com) has quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
[15:16:04] iamlindoro: markk: A lot has changed API and authenticationwise at Twitter-- let me look and see what kind of twitter library options are available these days
[15:17:23] elmojo: markk: so from my quess we use our videobuffer class to replace the internal buffer management provided by ffmpeg
[15:18:46] markk: iamlindoro: I'm looking at the skype api, with half an eye on extending the 'messaging' in the frontend to include a message queue with time, source (app), from (person), message body etc. it occurred to me that it would tie into thw twitter stuff as well
[15:19:24] elmojo: markk: so one question is do we still need our own video buffer management? was this needed for XvMC and now we can just use the default ffmpeg?
[15:19:32] iamlindoro: markk: Give me a day or two to see what the landscape of distro-supported twitter APIs is now-- back then I had to import a lib into the plugin and it was never perfect, and doesn't support their now-mandatory oauth
[15:20:00] iamlindoro: markk: A cursory glance suggests that there's a lot more out there now, and I suspect that for purposes of the plugin, adapting to a new API would be fairly trivial
[15:20:41] markk: iamlindoro: wasn't there something recently about twitter restricting developers somehow?
[15:21:04] iamlindoro: markk: There was... I don't know the details of that, though
[15:21:16] skd5aner: markk: google voice API would be fantastic – show if there's voicemails, who from, listen to them via myth, callerid, etc ;) http://code.google.com/p/pygooglevoice/  ::goes and hides::
[15:22:42] markk: elmojo: almost certainly still need our own buffer management, there is just something we're missing on age/reference frames etc
[15:23:18] elmojo: ah, ok... makes sense
[15:23:35] iamlindoro: markk: Looks like it's desktop client apps that they're trying to rein in-- our implementation would seem different enough to me to be ok
[15:23:56] elmojo: so maybe need to update the pic structure properly within the *_buffer functions
[15:23:58] iamlindoro: http://www.itproportal.com/2011/03/14/twitter . . . -developers/
[15:24:08] skd5aner: markk: there have been several massively popular twitter clients out there that were disabled because they didn't follow the TOS, primarily related to branding, how they made money, and out they bypassed certain twitter policies/restrictions
[15:24:19] skd5aner: that's probably what you're referring to
[15:24:34] iamlindoro: skd5aner: This appears different than that
[15:24:45] skd5aner: ah, reading now
[15:25:02] iamlindoro: They are limiting developers who want to create basic twitter desktop apps which are more or less analogous to their official client
[15:25:14] iamlindoro: in a bid to control the user experience with such apps
[15:25:19] markk: skd5aner: not really a lot I can do with google voice – I can't get it here
[15:25:20] iamlindoro: which, IMO, is dumb
[15:26:12] skd5aner: markk: ahh, true  :) darn
[15:28:53] elmojo: markk: yeah, you're right, pic->age doesn't look sane at all
[15:30:10] markk: elmojo: any idea what is in base[0] ??
[15:30:12] elmojo: for the buf->base[0] case
[15:30:17] markk: :)
[15:30:19] elmojo: hehe, no idea :)
[15:30:43] elmojo: we definitely don't handle it – which is probably a problem
[15:31:09] elmojo: love the amount of comments for that code :/
[15:31:39] markk: more comments than most of my stuff:)
[15:31:52] elmojo: you're code is readable though
[15:35:46] elmojo: we never set pic->buf[*] to anything either
[15:36:34] elmojo: looks like pic->data[*] and pic->linesize[*] is 4 deep now and we only assign the first 3
[15:42:48] markk: elmojo: age definitely looks like the problem. late here though – so time for sleep. feel free to fix overnight:)
[15:43:23] elmojo: I gotta get some real work done :)

[21:13:33] jya: wagnerrp: ffmpeg-mt merge was reverted because it screwed the early history of the git repo. Somehow the ffmpeg-mt git repo has diverged and doesn't contain common ancestry. Probably due to how the git tree was made in various places and after the split sha numbering changed.
[21:14:08] jya: I had the same issues when I backported some of the new libavformat feature ; I had written done the SHA commit I had used; they are all invalid now
[21:14:17] wagnerrp: ah, so it was technical issues, otherwise unrelated to the code itself
[21:14:19] jya: s/done/down
[21:14:33] jya: wagnerrp: that's right. purely a git-only issue
[21:15:28] jya: though, since some dev have complained on how it makes hardware accelerated playback much more complicated; but I haven't read too much about it (nor understood what it was about)
[21:16:04] jya: the issue being somewhat related to how the initialisation is now done. it's fine for software playback, but not hardware one
[21:16:07] wagnerrp: i dont see how it would, since hardware accelerated playback should never even touch the -mt stuff
[21:20:24] wagnerrp: of course having never seen the code, im just another non-contributing user claiming 'all you have to do is...'
