[03:16:12] elmojo: jpabq: are you still using #7964 with trunk? does it still work properly?
[03:19:07] jpabq: elmojo, I am a few weeks behind trunk, and the last time I applied those patches I did have to slightly modify them to apply cleanly. But, yes, I still use them, and they still work very well for me.
[03:21:42] jpabq: elmojo, I should have time this weekend to bring my system up to current trunk. When I do, I can create current versions of those patches and attach them to the ticket.
[03:22:40] elmojo: jpabq: that'd be much appreciated... I'm trying to understand them better... some stuff included that makes the patch much more noisy than necessary
[03:23:13] elmojo: leave the audio patch out.... jya has stated that it's not needed
[03:23:35] jya: elmojo: which patch ?
[03:24:01] elmojo: Mark Spieth did give an explanation about the audio patch on the ticket
[03:24:16] elmojo: jya: #7964
[03:24:46] jpabq: elmojo, You undoubtedly understand them better than I do! I just know they work. Thanks for looking them over.
[03:25:31] jya: ah yeah... no idea what that audio bit is going to be doing
[03:25:40] jya: unless it's a timing issue
[03:25:59] jya: in which case, if it causes a difference in behaviour when doing blah =0 ; blah = 0
[03:26:07] jya: then you have more things to worry about
[03:27:39] elmojo: jya: I don't know if it even has anything to do with #7964
[03:28:43] elmojo: I'm going to ignore it for now... feel free to make comments about it on the ticket
[03:28:44] jya: I'm going to put an answer to Mark's comment
[03:31:33] elmojo: jpabq: do you use 2x deinterlacering on interlaced material?... I don't think it handles that
[03:33:45] jpabq: I don't have my frontend machine turned on right now, so I am not sure. I have a nVidia GT220 and have told it to use the Advanced 2x deint, but I don't know what it uses when timestretch is engaged.

[04:48:58] kormoc: iamlindoro++
[04:49:10] iamlindoro: Thanks
[04:50:08] iamlindoro: Thinking to set up video playback, maybe a very basic audio config and test, screen wizard, and a couple other obvious "first time" config options
[04:50:23] iamlindoro: people who want more can dig, but want to hit all the basic config tasks and make them idiot proof
[04:50:41] ** kormoc nods **
[04:50:51] kormoc: I think it's great
[04:51:10] kormoc: Beirdo, your patch from last night still fails on sandbox violation
[04:52:24] kormoc: different one, looks like this one is /usr/include/mythtv/libavdevice/avdevice.h
[04:53:11] kormoc: iamlindoro, a small thing I've been wondering about is if we should try to default the MBE ip to a internal one vs 127.0.0.1
[04:53:26] kormoc: %s/internal/interface/
[04:53:34] iamlindoro: kormoc, That's on the drawing board for the setup rewrite (and it's easy to do)
[04:53:44] iamlindoro: but personally, I think the setup rewrite is dead
[04:53:53] iamlindoro: or moving so slowly as to be as good as dead
[04:54:06] kormoc: well, we're still in a bit of a git coma right now
[04:55:06] iamlindoro: some people never come out of comas ;)
[04:56:54] kormoc: Heh, point
[05:00:45] kormoc: Beirdo, INCDIR is only $(prefix) not install_root/prefix
[05:03:19] kormoc: and that's me breaking it. hrm
[05:06:47] Beirdo: hmmm, OK
[05:06:54] Beirdo: just got home. sigh
[05:07:22] kormoc: I specifically patched out install_root from INCDIR previously as it was doubling it, but perhaps that's fixed, testing now
[05:07:48] Beirdo: Ahh
[05:09:03] kormoc: that did the trick
[05:09:56] Beirdo: wrt markk's commit 3 hours ago... I thought Qt 4.6 was already the minimum requirement.
[05:09:59] Beirdo: or was it 4.5?
[05:10:54] Captain_Murdoch: 4.5 is minimum since I made the MythDownloadManager use the QNetworkDiskCache.
[05:11:02] Beirdo: ah
[05:11:18] Beirdo: I have to double-check all the stuff in mythsystem-rewrite then
[05:11:19] Captain_Murdoch: prior to that it was just one plugin that required 4.5.
[05:11:31] Beirdo: as we may have sucked in some 4.6 features
[05:11:55] Beirdo: if we have, then we can make a judgement call at that point, I guess :)

[05:15:42] iamlindoro: Still, I like!
[05:15:47] Captain_Murdoch: nah, 1.0 is old, 1.1 is current. :)
[05:15:50] iamlindoro: heh
[05:15:52] kormoc: Captain_Murdoch++
[05:15:53] iamlindoro: still
[05:15:55] iamlindoro: I like very much
[05:17:18] iamlindoro: Well now I have to prove it works with a video, just to one up Captain_Murdoch ;)
[05:17:31] Captain_Murdoch: the MBE updates a local copy of the themes.zip list of downloadable themes once a day. the frontend checks the backend's copy to see if the current theme has an update available.
[05:17:52] Beirdo: oh, that's what I was just gonna ask
[05:17:53] Beirdo: :)
[05:22:24] xris: iamlindoro: if you think the setup rewrite project is dying, why not talk to the guy you put in charge of organizing it?
[05:22:48] iamlindoro: I didn't put anyone in charge of anything
[05:23:04] xris: plural you, not singular
[05:23:10] iamlindoro: I specifically said that I wasn't going to be the leader, and that someone else should lead
[05:23:20] iamlindoro: that doesn't mean me running along behind them urging them to do so
[05:23:45] xris: and stuart volunteered
[05:23:48] xris: and then everyone ignored it
[05:24:00] iamlindoro: Captain_Murdoch, http://www.fecitfacta.com/simpleprofile.ogg (best played in mythavtest)
[05:24:59] iamlindoro: stuartm, ^^ May also find interesting

[05:33:05] Captain_Murdoch: iamlindoro, nice. and yeah, for me, 'only played in mythavtest', my mplayer and/or ogg libs are so old they make that video look like an Arclight background.
[05:33:15] iamlindoro: har har

[05:33:42] iamlindoro: my mplayer made it look sort of like 3D without glasses :)
[05:33:55] Captain_Murdoch: I'm serious. :) just with more color, not mainly blue.
[05:34:49] iamlindoro: I know you are ;)
[05:35:37] Beirdo: I made a nice Arclight-like background with nuvexport the other day
[05:35:49] ** iamlindoro isn't sure he likes this meme **
[05:35:52] Beirdo: had the x:y and width:height parameters back
[05:35:57] Beirdo: backwards...
[05:36:21] Beirdo: so 24 pixels from somewhere in the video were expanded out to full screen
[05:36:39] Beirdo: gave a similar effect, and confused the crap outta me for a bit
[05:39:49] Captain_Murdoch: whenever whoever finishes the video widget, they can make a gallery widget and then people could put a random mythgallery picture or a slideshow up as their background.
[05:40:44] iamlindoro: or, someone could make the image tag pick a random item when set to a directory
[05:40:47] iamlindoro: oh wait I did :)
[05:40:54] iamlindoro: and used it in arclight with the backgrounds ;)
[05:41:10] Beirdo: oh, it did look rather pretty, BTW. just unexpected from what was supposed to be a simple crop :)
[05:41:11] iamlindoro: But I take your point (ie, use the gallery instead)
[05:42:58] iamlindoro: Captain_Murdoch, Of course, once there's a video widget, there will be new reasons to hate themes that use that, too
[05:43:11] iamlindoro: "It looks horrible if you don't have any video recorded, we can't possibly use it"
[05:43:28] iamlindoro: "let's just keep throwing our feces at MythCenter, and someone not me will write a magic default"

[05:50:25] Beirdo: OK, so the way it is in git right now works fine?
[05:50:33] ** iamlindoro supposed the audio setup wizard has to come before the video one, since video won't play back properly without working audio. Hmm... **
[05:50:37] iamlindoro: er supposes
[05:50:38] kormoc: Beirdo, aye
[05:50:51] Beirdo: sweet. Thanks for the patience while we worked it out :)
[05:51:10] Captain_Murdoch: we can just start picking a different theme as the default for each release. if we don't care about 4:3 vs 16:9, we could go for 2–3 years without having to recycle.
[05:52:01] iamlindoro: Captain_Murdoch, I say go the other way. There should be no themes whatsoever. ncurses, just do away with MythUI entirely
[05:52:19] iamlindoro: Nothing will ever approach the holy glory that is MythCenter anyway
[05:53:12] iamlindoro: the theme chooser can just download a new font for your terminal
[05:54:08] Captain_Murdoch: I think that guy already did that in another 20 lines of perl, so he's up to 720 now (or 20 plus whatever the last count was).
[05:55:06] iamlindoro: Now we're talking
[05:56:35] ** Captain_Murdoch has to git to bed. **

[12:51:34] jya: when you start the audio test, even if you do not press any button, it starts sending audio right away (silence)
[12:51:44] jya: that's enough to give time to the amplifier to sync
[12:51:58] jya: once done click Test All, and see if audio ever occurs
[12:52:17] jya: I know that my hdmi amp, in 7.1 test, can take up to 6s to get a lock..
[12:52:20] okolsi: okay.. i'll have to re-try and see what happens. amp is quite recent Yamaha
[12:52:24] jya: spdif should be much faster though
[12:53:35] jya: ok, I've pushed the fix.. thanks for reporting
[12:53:47] okolsi: np

[13:25:23] jya: what audio device did you select?
[13:26:08] okolsi: just a sec, fe is in different room, haven't changed it from the default

[13:28:49] okolsi: what audio logs would be usefull, just to enter audio setup page?
[13:37:36] okolsi: jya: this is log when entering to audio setup and then into test where outputting test signal to front left speaker: http://mythtv.pastebin.ca/2022792
[13:38:36] jya: well, it tells you why:
[13:38:38] jya: Hardware audio buffer cur: 64 need: 128 max allowed: 128
[13:38:47] jya: Try to manually increase audio buffer with: echo 128 | sudo tee /proc/asound/card0/pcm4p/sub0/prealloc

[13:41:15] jya: you have to close your audio device first

[13:48:13] okolsi: yeah.. manged to increase the buffer, doesn't give that error log but still doesn't work

[20:11:41] danielk22: I'm assuming the 184.106.209.209 IP is correct, it also looked like the system ssh keys were not transferred, so I guess there could be DNS poisoning.
[20:11:43] Beirdo: only read-only via http

[20:21:43] stuartm: I don't know whether there was a concious decision to limit access for security or whether it was just an oversight
[20:22:38] danielk22: I've been a bit out of the loop lately. This was probably talked about and I just missed it.
[20:24:45] Beirdo: stuartm: it was a conscious decision, but danielk should have access :)
