[03:55:41] markk: elmojo: don't worry – have tracked it down. obscure bug when text subs are enabled by default and the first frame has a zero timestamp

[08:45:49] jya: markk: yes?
[08:46:27] markk: jya: I'm also seeing strange ALSA errors re buffer size. not had them before. and DCA audio seems to be broken – was working fine before.
[08:46:38] jya: DCA?
[08:47:05] markk: blu ray – dts-hd?
[08:47:33] jya: can you post the log with -v audio showing before and after what value it's trying to calculate ?
[08:47:46] jya: or better, the whole lot, I'll sort it out
[08:47:47] markk: DTS-HD Master Audio Surround 5.1  – according to the box
[08:47:51] jya: I was looking into it
[08:48:01] jya: markk: are you trying with passthru?
[08:48:14] markk: yes – that is with passthu
[08:48:15] jya: or plain decoding?
[08:48:49] jya: passthru isn't working right now, I disabled it as we need an updated version of ffmpeg
[08:49:04] jya: so it should just be ignored, and attempt to decode and play via LPCM
[08:49:26] jya: I can send you the patch to enable dts-hd ma passthrough
[08:49:44] jya: I make sure you read this: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/User_Manual:HDAudioPassthrough
[08:50:24] markk: jya: it was working before – what more can I say
[08:50:32] jya: if you are trying to play 5.1 DTS-HD MA, you will need to make sure you alsa buffer size is set to something quite big.. > 1024
[08:51:06] jya: yes, I heard you about that.. can you post the log with -v audio somewhere?
[08:51:25] jya: I increased the requirement for the buffer from 200ms to 400ms
[08:52:37] jya: markk: having a doubt here.. when you say it's with passthru, you are talking about DTS-HD MA passthrough, or AC3 one?

[08:59:20] jya: hum... it's in the spdif muxer that it is failing ..
[08:59:22] stuarta: Beirdo: i can add my debian box in germany to the buildbot network
[08:59:38] stuarta: and my OSX box once i get it sorted out
[09:00:23] Beirdo: cool
[09:00:50] Beirdo: I'll try to look tomorrow to see if I'd need to create totally new slave definitions or if they can share one
[09:01:00] Beirdo: it doesn't matter, just need to get the config right ;)
[09:01:32] Beirdo: our current 32bit building box is a domU donated by a user here in Seattle
[09:01:39] Beirdo: it's a bit on the slow side, but works
[09:02:09] Beirdo: the current 64bit one is my backend, and it barely notices it, but it's always good to have more slaves.
[09:02:25] Beirdo: that makes me sound like an old guy from the south of the US. oops
[09:05:09] jya: markk : I think the new muxer just uncovered a bug in ffmpeg, ... or the way we use it... audio is called to play DTS, but it gets the full dts-hd ma frame, which the spdif encoder muxer can't handle
[09:06:12] Beirdo: I need to get some sleep... stuarta, I'll get back to you tomorrow, OK?
[09:06:39] Beirdo: I still need to work out the steps for Windows (both cross-compiled and native) and OSX
[09:07:00] Beirdo: but having slaves would help :)
[09:07:17] Beirdo: I know iamlindoro offered OSX as well, I haven't forgotten you :)
[09:08:02] Beirdo: but sleep is beckoning. another fun day of machine wrangling tomorrow. Sigh

[09:22:47] jya: markk: hum.. myth sees that audio stream as DTS, when it's not...
[09:22:54] jya: janneg: are you there?
[09:26:45] jya: markk: for the time being, I suggest you uncheck DTS passthrough in the audio setup. Audio will be re-encoded to AC3
[09:26:57] jya: at least you can watch your show
[09:49:13] markk: jya: ok – thanks. if you need me to test, just shout

[09:49:39] jya: DTSHD or DTS have the same code_id

[09:49:51] jya: https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/commit/b55dc . . . b1a0691e9bab
[09:50:10] jya: and I simply removed it... I need to re-apply something similar
[09:50:38] jya: problem is that I completely removed the previous dts passthrough encoder

[10:19:24] stuartm: jya: search appears to be working in the doxygen docs, seems that it was an outdated config file and was fixed when I updated the config yesterday
[10:19:58] jya: stuartm: great, started to use another mirror (found on the trac wiki).. so I haven't checked in a while
[10:28:08] stuartm: jya: that will be stuarta's mirror
[10:28:25] jya: let me check which one it was..
[10:28:57] jya: http://www.squashedfrog.net/mythtv/devdocs/
[10:29:07] stuartm: yeah that's the one
[10:30:08] stuarta: yup that's mine
[10:31:25] stuartm: markk: replacing that dialog won't be easy because mythui is non-blocking, honestly it might be easier to get rid of that dialog as it's never really fit properly, like the recording browsing from the OSD it's overloading a menu to perform a task it's not designed for
[10:33:49] markk: jya: ah – that rings bells
[10:34:14] stuartm: markk: better yet we move that entire check out of the playback loop to some point earlier in the code and maybe automatically direct users to Watch Recordings if they true to select LiveTV when all tuners are in use
[10:34:23] markk: stuartm: I'd pretty much come to that conclusion. maybe we should just check before...
[10:34:29] markk: I won't finish that sentence
[10:34:32] jya: markk: I have extractde what's needed of it.. but it keeps telling me that it's a supported DTS frame... debugging the prevoious code now se what it actually did
[10:34:36] stuartm: s/true/try/

[22:50:02] kormoc: check iostat/top to see what's slowing you down (CPU or IO) and likely hop over to #mythtv-users
[22:51:21] danielk22: Dunno about mythtranscode, but mythcommflag will by default not run full throttle to avoid bogging down the disk/cpu.. you probably want to start on #mythtv-user and try the mailing list if you get a lot of gruff there.
[22:53:29] stuarta: where's the stable branch packaging repo gone?
[22:53:46] allesmueller: I already checked some obvious things like iostat/top also tried to set the power saving gouvernor to performance ... but I´ll try to get advice on the users channel – sorry for the noise here

[23:02:11] stuarta: is there a way to specify which branch to checkout when setting up git
[23:02:57] stuartm: stuarta: every branch is checked out when using git, you just switch between them once you have a clone
[23:03:17] stuarta: makes updating documentation harder...
[23:03:29] stuartm: but you can set the default branch via the -b option to clone
[23:03:40] stuartm: e.g. git clone -b fixes/0.24 git://github.com/MythTV/mythtv.git
[23:04:12] stuarta: ok, just trying to bring the OSX notes kicking and screaming up to date
[23:04:26] stuartm: alternatively, in an existing clone, 'git checkout fixes/0.24'
[23:15:35] sphery: as mentioned on http://code.mythtv.org/trac ...  ;)
[23:17:03] stuartm: that's where I copy/pasted from to avoid mis-remembering the syntax ;)
[23:17:39] ** stuartm wonders why 'monkey' and 'consumer' are in the top ten most popular passwords **
[23:17:42] sphery: heh, yeah, the only thing that doesn't go into is the difference between git@github.com : and git://github.com/ URIs
[23:17:56] sphery: but really, if you check out the wrong one, you can just change the origin
[23:18:06] sphery: (like an svn relocate)
[23:18:06] stuartm: sphery: heh, true, didn't consider that when copying from there
[23:18:20] stuarta: and it's only the developers who really need the alternative forms
[23:18:39] sphery: and the http://code.mythtv.org/trac/wiki/UsingGit page has a little more info on git@github.com
[23:19:17] stuarta: oh ho hum
[23:19:30] stuarta: osx-packager needs a git rewrite i think
[23:20:27] sphery: someone on -dev list was trying to take the new windows build script and use as much as possible of it--including the git stuff
[23:20:58] stuarta: i haven't built for osx for over a year
[23:21:09] kormoc: stuarta, I have a chunk of it done, but it's hardly complete. We need to re-do how it handles revision numbers
[23:21:22] stuarta: i hate that script
[23:21:23] stuartm: is the PPC build broken now?
[23:21:39] stuarta: no idea, mines an intel mac
[23:22:03] kormoc: I use OS X x86_64 builds a ton, but never a PPC one
[23:22:31] stuarta: i've just discovered it's won't go 64 bit on my hardware :(
[23:22:49] stuarta: despite the cpu supporting it, some firmware component doesn't
[23:23:01] kormoc: actually, I compile it as 32 bit
[23:23:11] kormoc: and it was a epic pain in the butt to get going on snow leopard
[23:23:23] kormoc: had to manually override arches for macport packages
[23:24:05] stuartm: stuarta: were you offering an OSX build slave?
[23:24:20] stuarta: yes
[23:24:35] stuarta: of course i actually have to get it to build first :)
[23:24:52] stuarta: and a debian 64 bit
[23:25:21] stuartm: because a variety of architectures, even if it's just 32-bit will be useful, I'm sure more people can offer 64-bit than 32-bit
[23:27:25] stuartm: wonder if anyone will offer an Arm slave
[23:28:28] ** stuarta wonders if anyone actually has an arm based mythtv box **

[23:50:34] stuarta: well the mini is building mysql, then it'll move onto qt
[23:50:42] Beirdo: oh fun
[23:50:47] stuarta: so that's about 16 quintillion hours of building
[23:51:07] stuarta: so i think i'll go to bed...
[23:51:27] Beirdo: for the linux part, (and for OSX, etc later), you'll need buildbot-slave-0.8.2.tar.gz from buildbot.net
[23:51:34] Beirdo: (it's python)
[23:51:53] Beirdo: but if you're heading for bed, no biggie
[23:52:05] Beirdo: I'll try to scratch together some basic instructions
[23:52:07] stuarta: even though your running the master on bleeding edge?
[23:52:15] Beirdo: yeah :)
[23:52:19] ** stuarta oddly isn't tired **
[23:52:21] Beirdo: the slaves work fine
[23:52:41] Beirdo: heh, fine :)
[23:52:46] stuarta: d/l qt
[23:53:05] Beirdo: generally speaking, you'll want to create a user for buildbot (to keep things tidy)
[23:53:30] Beirdo: install the slave stuff to the system python install, and then it's pretty simple from there
[23:53:41] stuarta: fair enough
[23:53:53] stuarta: what about tying it together with the master bot?
[23:54:00] Beirdo: and then we put in a new slave name/passwd in the master config
[23:54:24] stuarta: can it do ssh key auth?
[23:54:26] Beirdo: and you configure a new slave on the machine using that name/passwd and pointing at the master server
[23:54:40] Beirdo: nope, it's a custom port thing
[23:54:48] stuarta: fair enuf
[23:55:10] Beirdo: I wish they'd use htdigest at least, but meh. We can create a random passwd for it

[23:56:01] Beirdo: now, for OSX, I still haven't configured steps. I figure once you are ready to try it, we'll probably end up going through a few iterations to get the steps right
[23:56:19] Beirdo: the Linux ones, I could easily test
[23:56:32] stuarta: yeah, i'll start with being able to build it on that platform
[23:56:41] Beirdo: yeah :)

[23:57:06] stuartm: Beirdo: can the plugins compile step be differentiated from the main compile? Currently both steps just say 'compile' and though it's easy enough to tell them apart by looking at the sequence it would be a minor improvement if labelled differently
[23:57:07] Beirdo: for cross-compile Windows, I'm kinda holding off until the new stuff coming in has settled a bit
[23:57:27] Beirdo: yeah, I tried, but it overrides it when there's warnings
[23:57:35] stuarta: if a slave goes offline for a while, does it skip to the latest version or does it work it's way forward?
[23:57:54] Beirdo: it will go to the last one, AFAICT
[23:57:56] stuartm: Beirdo: ah well, nevermind then
[23:58:10] Beirdo: stuartm: I'll keep trying, I wanted it to be clearer too :)
[23:58:30] Beirdo: I just added the "list install" step at the end today to show what all got installed
[23:58:39] Beirdo: it may be useful at some point
[23:59:16] Beirdo: used ls -alR for now
[23:59:33] Beirdo: might be able to get a nicer output some other way, but it's a start
