[02:37:44] mrand: iamlindoro: I actually agree there should be no space before the ellipsis, but that space before the ellipsis is very widespread in all the themes (12 + 9 occurrences). Shall I change all the others?
[02:50:16] mrand: iamlindoro: I assumed that changing "Please Wait ..." to be "Please Wait..." (without space) might mess up alignment on certain screens since it is one less character. If that isn't the case, then the above doesn't matter.
[02:55:45] iamlindoro: Actually correct trumps any other concern
[02:55:57] iamlindoro: I am probably not going to apply the patch before .23, though
[02:56:05] iamlindoro: since we've basically called "final" on the strings
[02:56:26] iamlindoro: good times to proofread would have been any time up until this morning ;)
[03:04:33] mrand: Hehehe. I didn't think of it until I saw those emails. A few of these would be backwards compatible I think (i.e., the string already exists), so it wouldn't affect themers if my minimal understanding is correct. The "all right", for example. And the Please Wait... I think
[04:01:34] iamlindoro: mrand, it would still require that the themestrings be regenerated
[04:02:15] mrand: Didn't figure that was a big deal. But if it is, I understand.
[04:02:15] iamlindoro: I think we've jerked the translators around enough with the late generation of the strings, and then 48 hours of constantly changing them
[04:02:34] iamlindoro: s/48/72/
[04:03:23] iamlindoro: If someone else wants to put it in for .23, that's fine, but personally I'm not going to change any more strings until the freeze is lifted
[04:04:44] mrand: np

[19:17:44] iamlindoro: Heh... I thought I was done for a bit, but I just had a very, very neat idea for a new theme.... hmm.
[19:31:15] mag0o: so, share the idea
[19:32:49] iamlindoro: Why? I can just use it instead :)
[19:33:13] mag0o: :)

[19:51:10] gbee: mag0o: cheeky ;)
[20:05:45] iamlindoro: Wonder what became of some of those hacky half-themes we started to see a few months back... saw three knocked off of the demo theme and other existing ones
[20:05:54] iamlindoro: likely figured out theming is real work
[20:06:13] mag0o: heh
[20:06:32] mag0o: i'm scoping out resources for a new grown up theme now
[20:06:51] mag0o: but that's a bit down the road, still want to polish up Childish after i deliver this website
[20:07:25] iamlindoro: Anyway, my idea for this new theme
[20:08:02] iamlindoro: I realized that with some clever layout, use of fanart/screenshots, and a bunch of the textual information, you could actually "generate" a movie poster for a given item
[20:08:25] iamlindoro: Example of something that could be done dynamically: http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9 . . . hefuture.jpg
[20:08:49] iamlindoro: Pretty much all the component parts there could be built out of programinfo/videometadata and screenshots/fanart
[20:09:05] mag0o: ahh, yeah
[20:10:33] iamlindoro: Brings to mind some wishes I had for text manipulation, though
[20:11:11] iamlindoro: would be nice to be able to put in a carraige return after "x" words/letters/etc., to take a few items from a string and place them in one location, a few in another, and so on
[20:17:37] jams: Anybody know off the top of their head what the option is to start with a certain menu theme?
[20:18:26] sphery: -O MenuTheme=
[20:18:43] jams: thx
[20:27:24] jams: hmm looks like that works off the dir name instead of menuname. Oh well thanks sphery got it working now
[20:44:44] wagnerrp: jams: the '-O' options are just overrides for a specific entry in the settings table
[20:45:00] wagnerrp: you should be able to override any of those settings... at your own risk
[20:45:34] jams: just being lazy :)
[20:46:43] jams: was hoping someone knew off the top of their head, i really dislike mysql and try to avoid it as much as possible.
