[00:57:18] iamlindoro: So much for that screen being optional. sigh
[00:57:58] iamlindoro: So it's as optional as any other code you can edit to remove it <eyeroll>
[01:23:05] wagnerrp: can you remove it with a menu-theme?
[01:23:50] iamlindoro: You could, but a theme working properly shouldn't require a menu theme
[01:32:40] sphery: and you can't force a menu theme to go with a UI theme
[02:12:14] mrand: if the solution hasn't changed, is it not fair to re-evaluate allowing the "fix" now?
[02:12:21] mrand: errr... if the solution HAS changed.
[03:25:43] Captain_Murdoch: maybe the menu code needs a new version of 'depends' that can check to see if a window element exists in the theme.
[05:13:09] Captain_Murdoch: http://mythtv.pastebin.ca/1818498 if anybody wants to express an opinion on a <dependswindow> tag in menu themes.

[15:46:45] Beirdo: 16:9 theme running on 5:4 display :)
[15:47:21] Beirdo: I will wikify how to do it soon... it's not hard, use the window size/offset settings
[15:47:55] Beirdo: so if people (like me) whine about lack of 4:3 or 5:4 themes, it IS possible to overcome it
[15:51:13] Captain_Murdoch: and playback works full-screen with the different size set for playback vs GUI?
[15:52:05] Beirdo: yep
[15:52:39] Beirdo: it seems to work just fine. not using the xrandr stuff though, that hosed the crappy radeon driver :)
[15:53:05] Beirdo: thanks for the guidance last night, it seems to work quite nicely
[15:53:13] Captain_Murdoch: cool. glad it worked, it was just a shot in the dark when I mentioned it.
[15:53:20] Captain_Murdoch: seemed like it would work.
[15:53:23] Beirdo: A good one :)
[15:53:48] Beirdo: it would be nice to have a "letterbox to fullscreen" option for the GUI ongoing though
[15:53:57] Beirdo: but one thing at a time :)
[15:53:59] Captain_Murdoch: yeah, I agree.
[15:54:11] Beirdo: well letterbox/pillarbox
[15:54:17] Captain_Murdoch: just a 'make this theme fit in my display without stretching' setting.
[15:54:31] Beirdo: in case some fool wants a 4:3 theme on a 16:9 display for some dumb reason
[15:54:47] Beirdo: yup
[15:55:17] Beirdo: I'll take a screen capture of the settings page as well to make it look good for the wiki
[15:57:51] Beirdo: this is useful for testing purposes too (on a monitor like I have it)

[17:04:21] Captain_Murdoch: yeah, I run an oddball sized 16:9 mythfrontend in the top left of my 4:3 left monitor on my dual-headed dev box.
[17:29:17] natanojl (natanojl!~jonatan@c83-252-238-84.bredband.comhem.se) has joined #mythtv-theming
[17:39:29] sphery: perhaps the "letterbox to fullscreen" option should really be just a button in the Appearance Wizard that sets the existing settings.
[17:40:08] Beirdo: yeah, it could be
[19:51:05] stuartm: when the revised theme selection screen was created I wanted to warn users when they select a theme which wasn't suitable for their aspect ratio, that would at least deal with those cases where users witlessly chose the wrong theme
[20:09:58] Beirdo: yeah, or choose to :)
[20:10:12] Beirdo: some of us are odd (oh really?) :)
