[06:15:12] sunbird: hey all. i've deleted a bunch of recordings from my mythtv backend, but the disk space is still occupied.
[06:15:22] sunbird: is there a way to manually force the backend to actually delete the files?
[06:15:54] sunbird: this is on debian jessie if that makes any difference. i didn't see any obvious way to do so.
[06:17:15] [R]: it'll delete it after a fe wminutes
[06:17:23] sunbird: i tried the flush_deleted_recgroup script and it returned that no files needed deleting, but the 2 TB disk is still nearly full.
[06:17:51] sunbird: hmmm... odd. i guess i just need to delete more stuff then. :(

[15:02:37] [Kid]: so i was able to download my XML guide, but when i import it, it is looking for channum and that is NULL
[15:02:48] [Kid]: is there a way to not have it look at the channum?
[15:32:10] [Kid]: why would myth stop downloading channels after i deleted them from the database?
[15:32:22] [Kid]: i am using the same m3u file and now it is not finding all the channels.
[15:40:18] ikevin: does your m3u file is valid?
[15:45:16] [Kid]: i thought so
[15:45:23] [Kid]: that's what i thought might be the problem

[15:47:27] [Kid]: #EXTINF:0 tvg-id="amc", AMC
[15:47:27] [Kid]: http://url/amc/index.m3u8
[15:47:33] [Kid]: does that look right?
[15:47:43] [Kid]: i thought the comma was in the wrong place
[15:49:45] ikevin: you maybe can find if an error occure in backend's log
[16:04:10] [Kid]: i am not starting the backend though
[16:04:21] [Kid]: i just try to scan via the mythtv-setup
[16:05:29] ikevin: iirc, if starting mythtv-setup from a terminal, it send log to terminal

[20:19:31] [Kid]: does myth IPTV recorder support the use of tvg-id in the m3u file?
[20:19:52] ** mengoshmink shrugs **
[20:20:04] mengoshmink: I don't even know what that is
[20:20:49] dekarl: [Kid]: what would that be good for?
[20:21:14] [Kid]: dekarl, for matching the channel in the XML guide data
[20:21:25] [Kid]: at least that's what the spec says
[20:21:26] dekarl: [Kid]: we have a different way to do that
[20:21:31] [Kid]: crap.
[20:21:42] dekarl: "spec" is a big word for that stuff :)
[20:21:44] [Kid]: i think that's why my m3u isn't working with myth
[20:21:47] [Kid]: well yeah
[20:21:58] [Kid]: so here is one line of my m3u
[20:22:00] dekarl: let me find the answer
[20:22:28] [Kid]: #EXTM3U
[20:22:28] [Kid]: #EXTINF:0,tvg-id="id", Channel Name
[20:22:28] [Kid]: http://URL/index.m3u8
[20:22:38] [Kid]: would that be why it is not reconizing?
[20:22:40] dekarl: where is the channel number?
[20:23:08] [Kid]: yeah, that is the problem with it when i tried to import guide data, it said channum cannot be NULL
[20:23:13] dekarl: we do not yet support playlists without channel numbers, as that is an uncommon thing
[20:23:17] [Kid]: with the XML i had
[20:23:22] [Kid]: ahh
[20:23:25] dekarl: which country?
[20:23:31] [Kid]: US
[20:24:02] [Kid]: AHHH!
[20:24:06] [Kid]: i understand now
[20:24:23] [Kid]: that's why when i scanned channels earlier with that m3u it would always have the last one
[20:24:30] [Kid]: cause the channum on those all is 0
[20:24:36] [Kid]: so it was replacing it everytime
[20:24:56] dekarl: yes
[20:25:01] dekarl: here are samples of good playlist https://github.com/MythTV/mythtv/blob/master/ . . . order.h#L102
[20:25:14] dekarl: #EXTMYTHTV:xmltvid=svt1hd.svt.se
[20:25:28] dekarl: ^- this is how you manually connect xmltv guide channels to iptv channels
[20:26:27] [Kid]: so if i just wanted myth to assign the channel number starting from 1, i would leave out the 0 in the m3u
[20:26:28] [Kid]: ?
[20:27:15] dekarl: The "0" is in the duration field. Most channel playlists have "-1" for "duration unknown"
[20:28:03] dekarl: but the kodi iptv plugin puts the channel number into the duration, so we use that. (but we should never use "0" as valid duration, have to test/fix that)
[20:28:19] dekarl: you could use tvg-num="channel number"
[20:29:43] dekarl: one day I'll take a look at properly making up / deduplicating channel numbers if the playlist is missing them. but its super low priority
[20:32:02] [Kid]: yeah, i understand that
[20:32:57] [Kid]: guess my other option would be to script it
[20:33:16] [Kid]: i would have to download the m3u and parse/rewrite it
[20:33:25] [Kid]: sounds like a lot of work...
[20:33:27] [Kid]: dammit
[20:33:54] [Kid]: crap, or i switch services!
[20:33:57] [Kid]: haha
[20:33:58] dekarl: you could file a ticket with a snippet of the m3u, 3–4 channels, to add a unit test
[20:34:27] dekarl: or just as your provider to supply channel numbers :)
[20:34:50] dekarl: mythfilldatabase will also match guide data based on the channel name, so that may be all it takes
[20:42:37] [Kid]: yeah, my guide data is based on channel name
[20:43:02] [Kid]: but through myth, channel number is required?
[20:45:08] [Kid]: this could be my limited knowledge, but would it be as easy to add an if channum=NULL, add it incrementing? just a thought, obviously it would take a little more code
[20:45:20] [Kid]: not that i am asking you to do it, but i might try it myself.
[20:45:21] dekarl: channel number is a must have for historcal reasons. people use it in livetv to quickly switch channels by typing a number
