[00:00:03] Guest98609: If I understand correctly, in send() function, after "}" I can add ">> /tmp/sendlog.log" ?
[00:00:45] Guest98609: 1093 is channel number
[00:00:51] Guest98609: AMC
[00:01:02] Guest98609: I have COX digital.
[00:01:22] Guest98609: For some reason it has it remebered when I open Mythtv Frontend
[00:03:39] bill6502: On a new line right after send() {, you would add (for example): echo "Send function entered" >> /tmp/chlchg.log
[00:05:13] Guest98609: OK. Let me try that.
[00:05:17] bill6502: Then in another window, you could type: tailf /tmp/chlchg.log and watch it as the BE tries to change a channel.
[00:05:51] Guest98609: OK.
[00:10:23] Guest98609: tailf /tmp/chlchg.log returned
[00:10:40] Guest98609: Send function entered
[00:10:47] Guest98609: still no go
[00:12:22] Guest98609: Nothing else in the log file

[00:17:25] bill6502: Well at least we know it's executing. I'd have expected the Send function entered to have logged 4 times (once per digit). Try replacing it with this: echo "Device=${DEVICE} Remote=${REMOTE_NAME} STB=${STB} Digit=${1}" >> /tmp/chlchg.log
[00:18:02] Guest98609: Yes, there are 4 entries of "Send function entered".
[00:20:34] bill6502: That's good. After doing the new echo..., you can execute the irsend command manually and make sure that works. The variables will be in the log.
[00:25:48] Guest98609: This is what I got in the log:
[00:26:12] Guest98609: Device=/dev/lircd Remote=blaster STB=0_74 Digit=KEY_1
[00:26:19] Guest98609: Device=/dev/lircd Remote=blaster STB=0_74 Digit=KEY_0
[00:26:28] Guest98609: Device=/dev/lircd Remote=blaster STB=0_74 Digit=KEY_5
[00:26:35] Guest98609: Device=/dev/lircd Remote=blaster STB=0_74 Digit=KEY_5
[00:26:46] Guest98609: The channel remained on 1093
[00:27:09] disputin (disputin!~sean@65.102.58.17) has joined #mythtv-users
[00:28:27] bill6502: You mentioned that the script works from the command line. What is in the log when you run it from there? Before trying you'll have to make the log writable for your user, so do: sudo chmod 666 /tmp/chlchg.log
[00:29:49] strayPuppy (strayPuppy!~vipp@unaffiliated/straypuppy) has quit (Ping timeout: 256 seconds)
[00:32:10] Guest98609: STB is now on channel 1055... when I run the script "changechannelscript 1087" the STB changes to 1087
[00:32:19] Guest98609: The log file got the following 4 lines
[00:32:29] Guest98609: Device=/dev/lircd Remote=blaster STB=0_74 Digit=KEY_1
[00:32:37] Guest98609: Device=/dev/lircd Remote=blaster STB=0_74 Digit=KEY_0
[00:32:45] Guest98609: Device=/dev/lircd Remote=blaster STB=0_74 Digit=KEY_8
[00:32:51] Guest98609: Device=/dev/lircd Remote=blaster STB=0_74 Digit=KEY_7
[00:33:25] Guest98609: on top of 4 previous lines
[00:34:34] bill6502: what do you get when you type: locate -b '\irsend' ? I'm wondering if the BE can't find the command.
[00:36:06] Guest98609: I get: /usr/bin/irsend
[00:37:11] bill6502: And this to see if /dev/video1 is in the video group and that mythtv is a member of the video group: ls -l /dev/video1 ; grep video /etc/group
[00:38:29] Guest98609: I get:
[00:38:34] Guest98609: crw-rw----+ 1 root video 81, 1 May 14 16:00 /dev/video1
[00:38:50] Guest98609: video:x:44:dejan,mythtv
[00:39:12] Guest98609: dejan is my username
[00:39:27] bill6502: Perfect. ls -l /dev/lircd
[00:40:12] Guest98609: I get: lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 15 May 14 16:00 /dev/lircd -> /run/lirc/lircd
[00:41:28] bill6502: OK, then ls -l /run/lirc/lircd (trying to see if there's something preventing writing to lirc (( which I don't use)).)
[00:42:15] Guest98609: I get: srw-rw-rw- 1 root root 0 May 14 16:00 /run/lirc/lircd
[00:45:34] bill6502: This isn't looking good, that is I'm not fixing anything. I'd add another echo in the send() function immediately after the irsend.......... line that logs the return code: echo "RC=$?" >> /tmp/chlchg.log
[00:46:04] bill6502: prove that it's the irsend that's failing before going further (and I'm not sure where that is right now.)
[00:46:37] Guest98609: OK. Let me add echo.
[00:47:35] bill6502: I'm working on another echo, give me a sec...
[00:48:28] bill6502: Actually, did you change the line: echo "Tried ${count} times, giving up...." to have the >> /tmp/chlchg.log at the end?
[00:50:06] Guest98609: No. I'll do that as well.
[00:50:50] bill6502: Dinner bell for me in 10min...
[00:52:50] Guest98609: :)
[00:53:23] Guest98609: No go... I get:
[00:53:26] Guest98609: Device=/dev/lircd Remote=blaster STB=0_74 Digit=KEY_1 RC=0
[00:53:34] Guest98609: Device=/dev/lircd Remote=blaster STB=0_74 Digit=KEY_0 RC=0
[00:53:40] Guest98609: Device=/dev/lircd Remote=blaster STB=0_74 Digit=KEY_9 RC=0
[00:53:48] Guest98609: Device=/dev/lircd Remote=blaster STB=0_74 Digit=KEY_3 RC=0
[00:53:55] Guest98609: Tried 2 times, giving up....
[00:54:05] Guest98609: That's what's in log.
[00:56:47] bill6502: That means the script will return 1, which is what's in the BE log you pasted long ago.
[00:59:42] Guest98609: This is in section: "Check to see if a recording is going on right now, in case this is called from outside the schedule"
[01:01:46] bill6502: Right, and I'm not seeing why it's printing that and still getting to the for loop at the bottom of the script that calls send(). When that line prints, the: exit 1 should be taken.
[01:05:08] bill6502: I've got to run, be back in an hour, you can plant as many echos as you like around lines in the script to follow it's progress. Or, you could comment out lines 16–27 and see what happens. Test from the command line as well as the BE too.
[01:10:07] bill6502: And as I was walking out the door. The order of the last paste doesn't make sense to me. the Tried 2 times..... must be the only thing being done. send() isn't being called. This is important. Add the following just after the 1st line: echo "Starting $0" >> /tmp/chlchg.log
[01:11:34] bill6502: Could the: Device=/dev/lircd.... lines be from a previous run via the command line?
[01:11:43] bill6502: Now I'm really going.

[03:48:51] bill6502: Shadow__X: Exactly. Since it's returning 1 to the BE, it appears that the wget is failing. I got messed up by not adding an echo message at the beginning of the script and was most likely seeing old messages when it ran and he pasted them here. If you see him when he comes back, see if he added the echo and commented out the entire wget section, lines 16–27.
[03:49:21] Shadow__X: why is it running a wget everything it runs?
[03:50:16] Shadow__X: i use 6200ch to change channel

[03:52:46] bill6502: Per the comments, to see if the tuner is already recording. A safety valve so if run from the command line it doesn't stomp on an in progress recording.
[03:53:41] bill6502: I don't have any lirc, so can't really test it.
[03:59:46] Shadow__X: same here, i use 6200ch + firewire
[04:04:38] Bray90820: Well I almost have it working now my last error is that it says all tuners are currently busy
[04:39:27] Bray90820: If anyone is around to help me bill6502 Shadow__X if not it's ok
[04:45:11] Shadow__X: i can try
[04:46:52] Bray90820: Alright its fine
[04:47:12] Shadow__X: what does the backend say? are any of the tuners in use?
[04:47:18] Shadow__X: is the hdpvr still listed?
[04:48:17] Bray90820: The HDHR is listed none of the tuners are in use
[04:49:18] Bray90820: I actually have had this issue before and I would fix it by running "mythtv-setup --user mythtv"

[04:51:58] Shadow__X: you can do --version
[04:52:01] Shadow__X: iirc
[04:53:34] Bray90820: Yep 0.27
[04:53:35] Bray90820: 0.27.20140323–1
[04:54:26] Shadow__X: that is a pretty old version, are you running mythbuntu or ubuntu? there are the mythbuntu repos
[04:54:39] Shadow__X: but the age isn't the issue here, its that script not working right
[04:54:48] Bray90820: mythbuntu
[04:55:50] Bray90820: But in mythfromtend it says all tuners are currently busy
[04:56:08] Shadow__X: if thats the case then i would just restart the backend
[04:56:32] Shadow__X: also, did you do a vanilla mythbuntu install? i don't remember needing to run setup with user mythtv
[04:59:52] Bray90820: I did a vinilla install
[05:00:44] Bray90820: But when I ran "mythtv-setup --user mythtv" it was with ubuntu
[05:01:54] Bray90820: Whats the command to restart the backend
[05:02:33] Shadow__X: i normally run myth setup, make sure everything is looking good then exit
[05:02:38] Shadow__X: let it restart that way
[05:03:16] Bray90820: Well I only needed to run "mythtv-setup --user mythtv" once then every other time I would just run it normally
[05:03:41] [R] ([R]!~rbox@unaffiliated/rbox) has quit (Quit: Leaving)
[05:36:14] bill6502: Bray90820: I always stop the backend with sudo stop mythtv-backend then make sure it's stopped with ps -fU mythtv (and repeat that till it returns nothing) and start it again with: sudo start mythtv-backend . The middle step isn't normally required but there are times that restarting it too quickly will cause errors in the log like this: 'Failed listening on TCP 127.0.0.1:6543 – Error 8: The bound address is already in use'.

[22:26:29] maarhart: what to do? http://paste.debian.net/177838
[22:28:21] tgm4883: maarhart: what OS
[22:28:29] maarhart: linux
[22:28:43] maarhart: ubuntu latest
[22:28:53] maarhart: tgm4883: any hints?
[22:29:08] tgm4883: maarhart: yea, use the correct password
[22:29:18] maarhart: tgm4883: what do you mean?
[22:29:36] maarhart: I can connect if I use localhost
[22:30:06] tgm4883: then you need to set mysql to listen on the right interface
[22:30:23] maarhart: tgm4883: how?
[22:30:46] tgm4883: look in /etc/mysql/conf.d/mythtv.cnf
[22:30:57] tgm4883: maarhart: what does it say in there for the bind address
[22:31:02] tgm4883: or just paste the file
[22:31:21] maarhart: 0.0.0.0
[22:31:27] maarhart: I am changing it
[22:31:34] maarhart: to 192... etc
[22:31:48] tgm4883: maarhart: is that line commented out?
[22:32:13] maarhart: /etc/mysql/mysql.cnf looks like this: http://paste.debian.net/177846
[22:32:39] tgm4883: and what about the file that I asked about....
[22:32:45] maarhart: now like this: http://paste.debian.net/177847
[22:32:58] maarhart: so I could try now
[22:33:08] tgm4883: well 0.0.0.0 should listen on any address
[22:33:13] maarhart: oh damn
[22:33:19] maarhart: so I leave it 0.0.0.0?
[22:33:23] tgm4883: yes
[22:33:35] tgm4883: put it back to that, then I've got something for you to try
[22:33:39] maarhart: ok
[22:33:44] tgm4883: do this
[22:33:59] maarhart: do I leave /etc/mysql/mysql.cnf as I showed you?
[22:34:05] tgm4883: 'telnet 192.168.10.38 3306'
[22:34:26] tgm4883: maarhart: I'd just leave them how they were
[22:34:29] maarhart: Trying 192.168.10.38...
[22:34:29] maarhart: telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
[22:34:47] tgm4883: how about this
[22:34:54] tgm4883: 'sudo service mysql-server status'
[22:35:08] maarhart: okay, then it looks like this now http://paste.debian.net/177848
[22:35:32] tgm4883: and the other file?
[22:35:36] maarhart: http://paste.debian.net/177849
[22:36:03] tgm4883: hmm
[22:36:06] tgm4883: sec
[22:36:44] tgm4883: maarhart: how about just this
[22:36:47] maarhart: the other one: http://paste.debian.net/177850
[22:36:49] tgm4883: 'sudo service mysql status'
[22:37:24] maarhart: tgm4883: http://paste.debian.net/177851
[22:38:15] tgm4883: maarhart: ok looks good
[22:38:17] tgm4883: how about
[22:38:26] tgm4883: 'netstat -tulpn'
[22:38:36] tgm4883: might need to sudo that
[22:39:23] maarhart: http://paste.debian.net/177854
[22:39:25] maarhart: didn't sudo
[22:40:14] maarhart: tgm4883: now what?
[22:40:46] tgm4883: maarhart: ok, lets restart mysql
[22:40:53] tgm4883: sudo service mysql restart
[22:41:00] tgm4883: then do the netstat command again
[22:41:25] maarhart: tgm4883: http://paste.debian.net/177855
[22:43:46] tgm4883: what files are in /etc/mysql/conf.d/
[22:43:57] tgm4883: and /etc/mysql/mysql.conf.d/
[22:44:20] maarhart: http://paste.debian.net/177856
[22:44:36] maarhart: http://paste.debian.net/177857
[22:45:18] maarhart: tgm4883: there it is
[22:45:34] tgm4883: ok do this
[22:46:08] tgm4883: grep -R 'bind-address' /etc/mysql/
[22:46:11] tgm4883: and also
[22:46:20] tgm4883: grep -R 'skip-networking' /etc/mysql/
[22:46:37] maarhart: http://paste.debian.net/177858
[22:47:28] tgm4883: maarhart: ok, I say we edit /etc/mysql/mysql.conf.d/mysqld.cnf and change bind-address to the 0.0.0.0 then we restart mysql again and do the netstat command again
[22:48:08] maarhart: ok
[22:48:41] maarhart: http://paste.debian.net/177859
[22:48:48] maarhart: tgm4883: is it better now?
[22:49:00] tgm4883: yes
[22:49:05] tgm4883: you should be able to connect now
[22:49:08] maarhart: :)
[22:49:26] tgm4883: stupid explosion of conf files
[22:49:51] maarhart: looking good
[22:49:58] maarhart: will you stay for another question?
[22:50:33] tgm4883: yea, I'm fighting with some windows stuff but I'll at least read the question
[22:50:34] maarhart: tgm4883: xmltv errors
[22:50:40] maarhart: 1 and 2
[22:50:57] maarhart: tgm4883: can I do anything about those?
[22:51:10] tgm4883: IDK what those are
[22:51:28] tgm4883: I don't use xmltv, but are you using an updated version?
[22:51:33] maarhart: yes
[22:51:42] maarhart: do you use EIT?
[22:51:44] tgm4883: IDK much about xmltv
[22:51:48] tgm4883: no, I use schedulesdirect
[22:51:54] maarhart: oh ok
[22:51:57] maarhart: that's us right?
[22:52:33] maarhart: now I see apache if I connect to 192... etc from my phone
[22:52:57] maarhart: is this a mythtv-setup thing to configure?
[22:53:04] maarhart: oh maybe I need to download mythweb
[22:54:43] sleezio: tgm4883, any idea when mythweb is supposed to be fixed?
[22:54:56] tgm4883: sleezio: mythweb....?
[22:55:28] sleezio: yea, after i upgraded from mythbuntu 12.04, mythweb has been borked
[22:56:18] sleezio: i noticed several bugs..one is when you try to set a username/password via MCC and in mythweb(webpage) when you click on a recorded file, you get a 'not found' error
[22:56:48] tgm4883: Did we discuss this or is there a bug report?
[22:57:20] sleezio: i've seen a few reports on it, some say 'fixed', then others report it isn't fixed
[22:57:27] maarhart: I was able to navigate in mythweb, set things to record, delete recordings but I was not able to watch
[22:57:43] sleezio: maarhart, right
[22:58:16] tgm4883: sleezio: some pathing issue I'm guessing?
[22:58:32] sleezio: best i could figure out from the reports, it seemed to be an issue from stepping up from python 2 to 3
[22:59:09] sleezio: tgm4883, just clicked on a recorded show..
[22:59:10] sleezio: Not Found
[22:59:10] sleezio: The requested URL /mythweb/mythweb.pl/pl/stream/1423/1431658800 was not found on this server.
[22:59:29] maarhart: what else... well, pm-suspend
[22:59:36] tgm4883: sleezio: why would that be a python issue?
[22:59:58] sleezio: well, not that bug inparticular
[23:00:02] tgm4883: ah
[23:00:04] maarhart: I would like to be able to just wake up from sleep and have the dongle working...
[23:00:07] tgm4883: sec
[23:00:21] sleezio: things that worked in 12.04 stopped since fresh upgrade
[23:01:29] tgm4883: fresh upgrade, or fresh install?
[23:01:34] sleezio: install
[23:02:18] sleezio: after install, i did the software update...then enabled mythweb, tried to set username/password...get a python error
[23:04:45] maarhart: yeah, mythweb does not seem to work. I get apache
[23:04:51] maarhart: (in .28)

[23:13:29] maarhart: If I suspend, after that I get http://paste.debian.net/177867
[23:13:36] maarhart: tgm4883: any clue?
[23:14:16] tgm4883: maarhart: IDK, maybe your card doesn't like being in suspend
[23:14:18] maarhart: sounds to me, but I am not sure, that the kernel modules of my usb dongle don't reload
[23:14:28] tgm4883: you could reload them
[23:14:36] maarhart: do you know which modprobe commands do the trick?
[23:14:36] tgm4883: unload and reload that is
[23:14:46] tgm4883: I don't know what dongle you have
[23:14:57] tgm4883: but if I had to guess, it would be listed in your dmesg

[23:29:40] tgm4883: or maybe because of the suspend thing it's not working right
[23:30:21] maarhart: I tried dmesg again after plugging it in and http://paste.debian.net/177876
[23:32:03] maarhart: now tv works
[23:32:08] maarhart: so disconnecting it seems to work
[23:32:11] maarhart: I am suspending again
