[00:36:57] voyo: hello. I have problem with tuning (live TV, or recording) to channels from some MUX (DVB-S, Hotbird) . All settings seems OK, and with different application (kaffeine, tvheadend) this mux is working ok. I dont see anything particular in logs, how to debug this ?? (I just tried latest 0.28 from trunk)
[00:38:27] Hydr0p0nX: what happens when you try to tune it ?
[00:39:53] voyo: black screen, and message like 'blah blah 15000 ms timeout'
[00:40:15] voyo: frontend is still responsible, can switch to other channel
[00:48:05] Hydr0p0nX: try running the frontend with additional logging ?

[01:18:11] jedix: what's a good tuner? I have a hppage 2250, but it seems to have signal issues when there too much signal if any issue..
[01:18:30] jedix: dual channel, if possible
[01:18:39] jedix: for ota hd (atsc?)
[01:18:49] [R]: the linuxtv website has a list of supported tuners

[01:23:00] jedix: I was hoping to get one that did not require a fw upload
[01:23:14] [R]: because?
[01:23:55] jedix: because it's a pain on rebuild/kernel upgrade
[01:24:08] [R]: huh? firmware has nothign to do with the kernel
[01:24:26] jedix: yeah, it does
[01:24:58] jedix: the filename may change and where it looks for the file changes
[01:25:17] [R]: the firwmare has been in the same directory for as long as i can remember
[01:25:50] [R]: and the filename isn't going to change every week
[01:25:52] jedix: every time my kernel updates, I have to copy the firmware into a directory which contains the kernel version
[01:26:01] [R]: then you're syste is severly screwed up
[01:26:08] [R]: firmware is supposed to be in /lib/firmware

[01:28:37] jedix: maybe I should try a usb dongle one this time

[01:42:43] lautriv: yes, coaxial is sensible
[01:42:58] jedix: but the cheap tv works

[01:46:52] jedix: oh, ha. yeah
[01:47:01] jedix: atsc?
[01:47:26] lautriv: that's a format for US, doesn't matter for terrestrieal
[01:48:11] jedix: oh, I thought OTA meant terrestrial
[01:48:52] jedix: and atsc meant not QAS or whatever those encrypted ones are
[01:49:08] jedix: it's the 24 channels I can get with an antenna
[01:49:39] lautriv: did you check the presence and function of your devices ?
[01:49:55] jedix: presence and fucntion of my devices?
[01:50:05] jedix: the device nodes are created

[01:50:15] jedix: but others fail
[01:50:29] jedix: one in specific has a 96% signal on the crappy tv
[01:50:32] jedix: but fails on the tuner
[01:50:52] lautriv: did you collect a summary which are failing ?
[01:51:05] jedix: not really
[01:51:43] lautriv: may happen you have a problem with a specific range, xaused by wronf firmware or bad offset.
[01:51:53] jedix: I did notice that if I don't plug the cable in all the way, some of the channels work better
[01:52:29] jedix: I checked the wiki about the latest firmware
[01:52:49] jedix: with 3.13.0-46-generic
[01:52:55] jedix: the firmware is from 2011 or 2012
[01:53:03] jedix: so, they should match
[01:53:04] lautriv: if you have better results with less plugging maybe a bad soldering.
[01:53:17] jedix: on the card?
[01:53:37] lautriv: yes, middle pin of antenna
[01:53:44] jedix: I'll check that
[01:53:46] jedix: thanks
[01:54:21] jedix: that woudl explain it
[01:54:27] lautriv: use many light and a spy-glass, high frequency is difficult
[01:54:42] jedix: maybe I'll just reflow it

[15:01:15] bill6502: lautriv: I don't know your netmask, but lines 52/53 would be odd if its a /24, as .255 would be its broadcast address. Seeing that message twice is odd to me too. I've never noticed the Checking to run HardwareProfiler 4 times. If you're on a /16 and the broadcast comment isn't valid, then I'd try: SELECT * FROM housekeeping WHERE tag='HardwareProfiler' ORDER BY hostname; and see if node333 shows up with some corrupt data.
[15:03:21] bill6502: Failing that, since the FE stops so early, this is one of the ***RARE*** cases I'd suggest using -v most, norefcount --loglevel debug and looking at the log again.
[15:05:09] lautriv: bill6502, the setup is clean e.g. there was never any change on node333 since setup, backend shows it like all others via mythweb/database. broadcast is correct for 10.0.0.0/24. i get login to DB and all but only grey background. will see if that query will throw anything out.
[15:14:28] bill6502: The FE is: "Listening on TCP 10.0.0.225:6547" for example and if that's a /24 then it's listing on a broadcast address. You mentioned (long ago) that "hostname is new, IP is new" (so the FE has never worked I assume.) If the IP for node333 is 10.0.0.225, then I consider changing it.
[15:16:26] lautriv: bill6502, look twice 225 not 255
[15:18:14] bill6502: Sorry, no excuses available for that.
[15:18:54] lautriv: bill6502, this -> http://pastebin.com/QSa2Dikg is the complete output where the database on primary backend knows about 11 different frontends where 10 are working fine.
[15:23:18] bill6502: OK, strike 2. -v most, norefcount --loglevel debug is my last shot (or -v all would be last, but it's rarely been useful, too much data.)
[15:25:18] lautriv: bill6502, i may mention this is ( right now ) the first frontend running on funtoo instead debian (all others) but Xserver works fine, tested with xterm and mouse/kbd maybe there is something special on QT what i could check ?
[15:29:27] bill6502: lautriv: I can't answer that. The original FE log you pasted was the ENTIRE log correct?
[15:30:37] lautriv: bill6502, the first one was from start to ctrl-C where usually was more than enought time to show a theme, will do the same now with new settings which contains a lot of backend-info too.

[16:11:56] shiggitay: hey guys.. I have a question: I upgraded my HDHomeRun Prime's firmware to their latest beta, and now MythWeb is ghosting a recording that's not happening when I go to the "Upcoming Recordings" tab. No clicking "Delete and Rerecord" etc seems to help.
[16:12:17] shiggitay: I'm running such on my HTPC box which runs Mac OS X 10.9.2.
[16:12:46] shiggitay: is there a way to restart Mythweb? I've tried relaunching Apache2, but that didn't seem to help...
[16:13:36] shiggitay: Would I need to relaunch the backend? Or would I have to re-add the tuners via MythTV Setup?

[16:40:32] sphery: /away
[16:40:42] sphery: shiggitay: restart mythbackend, not mythweb
[16:41:08] shiggitay: sphery, yeah I ended up doing that.. thanks :)
[16:41:10] shiggitay: all's well
[16:42:41] sphery: Yeah, mythweb misinterprets some data that indicates a failed/incomplete-but-past-end-time recording, so it shows it as active. When you restart mythbackend after the end time of the show, that recording status information is changed to a form that mythweb doesn't misinterpret.
[16:48:14] shiggitay: sphery, interesting, and super derpy
[16:57:23] lautriv: shiggitay, just seen that. mythweb is very close to the backend, whenever something misbehaves it is the backend itself, that solved your web is instantly up to date.
[16:58:18] shiggitay: lautriv, o hai
[16:58:35] lautriv: shiggitay, that too ;)
[16:59:35] lautriv: shiggitay, actually fighting myself with a frontend but it'll probably end up in a funtoo-issue.

My notes to myself follow: Lines 2391/2 node001, but node201 in SQL not sure which is the backend, Not compiled with --disable-mythlogserver see Wiki for Mythlogserver (odd, but not likely this display problem.) These 2: NOT IN RAM CACHE, 2071 No theme file '/tmp/base.xml' appear in my (working) FE, so not likely a problem.

[17:34:26] lautriv: bah, all other was already talking to a wall o.O will repeat ...
[17:34:36] lautriv: bill6502, node001 is the primary backend, node201 is another node running a frontend .
[17:34:39] lautriv: shiggitay, i remember the times between 0.22 and 0.24 where it was somewhat usual to have a crashing backend, mostly leaving one thread running without interaction. was fine to write a cronjob to check the amount of myth-threads and restart if more than 3 and less than 2 were counted.

[17:35:04] lautriv: (done)
[17:48:30] bill6502: lautriv: SELECT * FROM settings WHERE value='ThemePainter'; I'd guess it's set to 'auto'. If not, you could try starting the FE using -O ThemePainter=opengl or qt. That's entering the guessing phase and I'm dropping off this one. JNE Sorry_I_couldnt_help
[17:50:07] lautriv: bill6502, log and terminal already showing "using QT painter" may i check that anyway ?
[17:51:06] lautriv: bill6502, and no reason for a sorry, you tried the best. i assumed alredy it's a distro(compilation) issue of funtoo.
[17:52:48] bill6502: Didn't even think to look for that in the log. No harm in trying -O ThemePainter=opengl just to see if it changes the display.
[17:54:20] lautriv: will do now ...

[18:06:59] lautriv: hence no real error
[18:08:22] natanojl: lautriv: What hardware are you using?
[18:10:05] lautriv: natanojl, initially i815e, since XAA is not longer suppoeted i switched to a mga 2164W (MilleniumII) because that embedded thingie has only PCI free.
[18:11:36] lautriv: natanojl, graphic itself is ok, just myth is drawing somewhere else.
[18:15:38] natanojl: lautriv: Ok. Those EGL messages suggests that it is using OpenGL ES which has not been widely tested as far as I know
[18:17:07] lautriv: natanojl, that was a testwise -O ThemePainter=opengl but regular QT painter looks similar (just different background color )
[18:18:52] lautriv: a question beside, when i use -O ThemePainter on stronger hardware like NV cards ( other frontends ) could i omit QT at all ?
