I can now report I have a working mythtv combined FE/BE on a Zotac ID-41 ZBOX with Silicon-Dust cable card (M-card) 3 channel tuner that is quite capable of rendering 1080p60 MPEG2 and H.264 using VDPAU accelleration.

took FOREVER to get the three tuners working: apparently deleting one of them and adding it again can cause problems, even if you delete all and try to start over from scratch. I have managed to record 3 1080i broadcast programs at the same time to the external drive while watching one of them.

The external drive is not required if all you plan to capture is SD, but 64 GB fills up quite fast with HD, making either an external drive, or an internal 2.5" 1T drive, essential.
