[00:33:12] jKlaus: anyone here running mythtv frontend on a raspberry pi?
[00:34:09] [R]: only people that love pain
[00:34:15] ** [R] whistles **
[00:34:23] jKlaus: So you are?
[00:34:24] jKlaus: lol
[00:34:25] [R]: wagnerrp: you're presence is requested
[00:34:35] [R]: jKlaus: of course not... im whistling for wagnerrp
[00:35:00] jKlaus: I'm considering buying an 'enhanced' pie
[00:35:02] jKlaus: http://www.dhgate.com/product/dhgate/16363735 . . . QDOgodXjUABw
[00:36:00] [R]: sounds like somethign compeltely differnt
[00:36:02] [R]: and nothing to do with the pi
[00:36:28] [R]: whatever it is... it doesnt support any hardware decodign that myth does
[00:36:30] [R]: so its gonna be garbage
[00:37:03] [R]: and you can get much better boards for much cheaper
[00:37:43] jKlaus: Well I'm looking for a cheap frontend solution for our bedrooms.. have any suggestions?
[00:39:03] afpup (afpup!~andrew@bas6-barrie18-1088931973.dsl.bell.ca) has quit (Quit: Lost terminal)
[00:39:07] [R]: anythign with an x86/x86_64 processor with enough oomph forsoftware and/or an nvidia for hardware decodign
[00:40:08] jKlaus: well I do have an old P4 box with what I think is an old nvidia 5400
[00:40:10] jKlaus: lol
[00:40:56] jKlaus: I'm not sure if the box still works though.. I found it when we moved, hasn't been used in years
[00:41:04] [R]: 5400 doesnt support vdpau
[00:42:16] jKlaus: The only content I record is OTA if that makes much of a difference?
[00:42:47] [R]: i dunno if an "old p4" can decode mpeg2
[00:43:42] jKlaus: I think its a 2.6. At one point I used it with my old PVR150s
[00:44:45] jKlaus: hmmm pcDuino
[00:47:20] jKlaus: [R] do you know of any hardware for under $100?
[00:47:38] [R]: i got an ion
[00:47:42] [R]: i think that was under 100
[00:47:49] jKlaus: where? lol
[00:47:49] [R]: i dont know if they still sell them though
[00:47:59] jKlaus: Yeah I haven't seen them for a while
[00:48:02] jKlaus: not sure why..
[00:48:03] [R]: i dunno... newegg, amazon, one of those
[00:49:39] jKlaus: I may just attempt an pie and deal with the pain
[00:49:47] jKlaus: I want a pi to screw around on anyway
[00:50:38] [R]: im pretty sure the mythfronend doesnt even run on it...
[00:53:28] dekarl: I hear people have built mythtv on the Pi and the Wandboard. But the frontend doesn't support the hardware video decoder yet
[00:55:12] [R]: and seeing as arm is garbage...
[00:56:26] dekarl: armv6/arm11 == armel, imx6/cortex-a9/armv7-a == armhf
[00:56:41] [R]: and?
[00:56:45] [R]: arm is still garbage
[00:57:03] ctmjr: everything about the Pi is garbage
[00:57:48] dekarl: ARM is a hammer, it works well on nails. Bad for you when your problem domain is not about nails :)
[00:58:19] jKlaus: EeeBox maybe?
[00:58:54] dekarl: jKlaus: ugh Atom...
[00:59:07] ** dekarl whistles **
[00:59:27] jKlaus: lol
[01:00:03] jKlaus: Well I need to find a cheap frontend box
[01:00:24] jKlaus: all I'm recording/playing is OTA
[01:00:38] jKlaus: I don't want to put much money into it given the content
[01:11:31] wagnerrp: then don't expect much value out of it
[01:12:08] [R]: jKlaus: see, works every time
[01:12:13] [R]: my cat responds to whistles too
[01:12:22] jKlaus: lol
[01:12:42] [R]: when hes hiding in my room... i whistle... and like 5 minutes later he comes out
[01:12:53] wagnerrp: or... 45 minutes, as it were
[01:13:24] [R]: lol
[01:14:59] jKlaus: haha
[01:15:09] jKlaus: you guys ever see these.. http://dx.com/p/mk8080b-dual-core-android-4-1 . . . black-175870
[01:16:00] wagnerrp: if it's ARM, it's only going to have enough power for HD video playback if you're doing hardware decoding, period
[01:16:11] wagnerrp: mythtv does not yet support hardware decoding on any ARM platform
[01:18:24] jKlaus: well shit guys.. looks like I'm firing up the ol p4
[01:18:27] jKlaus: lol
[01:19:21] wagnerrp: you'll need a new video card
[01:19:37] wagnerrp: the P4 likely isn't up to the task of HD video playback either

[01:21:23] wagnerrp: what speed?

When mythtvsetup, i am able to scan the same channels as seen by hdhomerun_config_gui program. I add those channels. But when using mythfrontend on the same machine which mythbackend runs, i can see only 3 out of the 34 channels when usin

[03:33:00] wagnerrp: the regular HDHR is not

[03:37:13] MrErr: I should also mention that in the mythfrontend and in the menu ManageRecording->Schedule-Recording, i can see all the channels that were scanned during the mythtvsetup.
[03:38:47] tgm4883: MrErr, logs?
[03:39:56] MrErr: in the mythbackendlog i got the message "2014-01–04 21:00:27.556984 E [3990/4027] JobQueue programinfo.cpp:2358 (GetPlaybackURL) – ProgramInfo(1181_20140105010000.mpg): GetPlaybackURL: '1181_20140105010000.mpg' should be local, but it can not be found."
[03:40:35] MrErr: that happened when i tried to record a progam. that led me to check whether mythtv can actually see the channels or not.
[03:41:35] MrErr: there are other log files generated, are there any of them in particular i also need to look at?
[03:43:51] jKlaus: this is saddening https://code.google.com/p/googletv-issues/issues/detail?id=14
[03:45:11] tgm4883: jKlaus, yes that is sad. The only good thing around that is that Google TV is such a failure it doesn't really matter
[03:46:30] jKlaus: Yeah, just sucks if you want to use the hardware for something else..
[03:46:32] tgm4883: jKlaus, unfortunately, that probably also spells doom for it on the chromecast as well
[03:46:33] jKlaus: like a FE
[03:47:13] jKlaus: Yeah, though I'm happy using my chromecasts for simple casting
[03:47:36] jKlaus: But I wanted to get a google tv buddy and install one of the Mythtv FE apps
[03:47:37] tgm4883: jKlaus, while that is great, it would be even better if I could cast mythtv to it
[03:47:50] jKlaus: no argument there
[03:48:57] jKlaus: it sucks that big brother google is throwing their weight around to try to change encodings
[03:49:12] jKlaus: though maybe I just start encoding my recordings..
[03:49:19] jKlaus: but it'd suck for live tv..
[03:50:24] tgm4883: jKlaus, while I welcome Google pushing forward new codecs, I disagree with them disabling old ones purely for political reasons
[03:50:45] jKlaus: Exactly
[03:55:58] Hydr0p0nX: are there any myth builds for 14.04 yet ?

[03:57:38] jKlaus: Hydr0p0nX, are you running 14.04?
[04:00:37] bkylie: Hi, having a bit of a headache here and hoping someone knows the fix: Whenever I scan for new videos, they are represented in the interface as +4/5hrs (eg, videos scanned at 10pm appear as 'Tomorrow'). It appears to be my TZ offset (America/New_York), but I've checked and the FE, MBE, and MySql hosts are all NTP-synced and set for America/New_York and mysql is set for 'SYSTEM'. What am I doing wrong?
[04:00:42] Hydr0p0nX: not yet
[04:01:33] Hydr0p0nX: am considering it since most of the issues i'm having with my system appear to have fixes in it or 13.10
[04:04:58] Hydr0p0nX: thanks, it's downloading now :)
[04:05:06] Hydr0p0nX: why is a 900MB iso considered a bug ?

[04:08:52] Hydr0p0nX: I just never noticed it being called a bug and looking back at even 13.10 required a dvd
[04:14:37] tgm4883: Hydr0p0nX, wagnerrp it's because it's above the approved limit for the ISO image. That used to be the size of a CD, but it was increased a few cycles ago to 850MB
[04:15:16] Hydr0p0nX: ah
[04:15:16] tgm4883: The thought is, that you need more space than a CD offers for what you want to put on there, but you still want an artificial limit so it doesn't get bloated with useless crap
[04:15:28] tgm4883: which is why it's 850MB and not 4.3 GB

I noticed the "Record this program in this timeslot every day/week" option is missing (e.g. as pictured http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/File:MythWebDetails.png). Was this removed, or might something be messed up with my installation?

It appears to be my TZ offset (America/New_York), but I've checked and the FE, MBE, and MySql hosts are all NTP-synced and set for America/New_York and mysql is set for 'SYSTEM'. What am I doing wrong?

[18:50:29] darkplague: does anyone know why mythtv v0.27 cannot play iptv streams with multiple audio streams?
[18:51:20] BLZbubba: ok here is one bug I have after the 0.27 upgrade — I have an extra backend with one tuner, but recordings it makes should play back through the main backend
[18:51:47] BLZbubba: however, the frontends are trying to connect to the wrong backend for its recordings
[18:52:47] Jinx (Jinx!~Jinx@unaffiliated/jinx) has joined #mythtv-users
[18:57:32] BLZbubba: and also, whenever this backend is running, just about everything that runs gets errors like this one: The response to MYTH_PROTO_VERSION was empty
[18:57:50] BLZbubba: but every machine in the system is idle
[18:59:33] tmkt: MartinT: no
[19:01:30] wagnerrp: BLZbubba: there's an unknown race condition that for some users results in the protocol server deadlocking, and no longer responding to queries
[19:01:35] wagnerrp: the only resolution is to restart the backend
[19:03:07] BLZbubba: interesting
[19:03:17] BLZbubba: setting the master backend override to 1 seems to have fixed it
[19:03:36] BLZbubba: but let's see if it stays fixed
[19:07:13] BLZbubba: so far so good!

[21:05:44] wagnerrp: i just can't find it
[21:06:49] neufeld`: There's a scheduling option, along with "identifiable episode" and "high definition", etc.
[21:07:17] neufeld`: When the recording rule names the channel you want in its description, you can select something like "only this channel".
[21:07:39] wagnerrp: i bet i'm just using an old theme, so they're not visible
[21:08:22] neufeld`: look in "schedule filters", bottom of the list
[21:08:54] neufeld`: I'm using mythcentre, that's pretty old

[21:26:04] neufeld`: wagnerrp: curious. Hitting up-arrow serially from the "BACK" button in schedule options, I hit "Recording rule active" then "Schedule filters", then "Look for duplicates in..."
[21:27:26] neufeld`: I see that it's activated by a record in my theme file, so I suppose if your theme doesn't have it, you won't see it.
[21:28:32] neufeld`: In schedule-ui.xml, the button name (value) is "Schedule filters". You can patch that into your theme.

[22:15:12] wagnerrp: locked, meaning?
[22:15:16] wagnerrp: it's unresponsive?
[22:16:20] SteveGoodey: You bet. Cursor stuck on Manage Recording. Mythcenter-wide clock is updating though.

[22:17:04] wagnerrp: ive never used it
[22:18:00] SteveGoodey: Ok thanks. I'll wait till the backend has stopped recording, reboot and turn it off. I saw the setting somewhere.
[22:18:13] stuartm: SteveGoodey: red herring, the frontend may have locked up, but it's not because it's in standby – pressing any key or moving the mouse would automatically exit standby
[22:18:37] SteveGoodey: Not this sucker.
[22:19:07] stuartm: yeah, as I say, it may have locked up but one thing has nothing to do with the other

[22:21:39] stuartm: right, but a frontend that's not doing much has nothing to log, could have locked up long after going into standby, or even have entered standby after locking up
[22:22:08] stuartm: it's literally impossible for standby mode to in any way cause the frontend to hang
[22:23:03] SteveGoodey: Ugh. So turning it off ain't gonna sort it.
[22:24:22] stuartm: no, but since a frontend lockup like that is a pretty rare event you may never encounter it again – if it repeats then we can try and figure out the cause, but for now just restart the frontend
[22:27:32] SteveGoodey: I think I had it happen early this morning. After a reboot the ubuntu update manager was flashing in the title bar and I thought that had taken focus away from mythfrontend
[22:33:10] dekarl: darkplague: can you post a short example of such a stream to a bug ticket? The IPTV recorder does not do anything special to the transported stream. So the assumption is that its something about the stream.
