| [00:22:40] | stuartm: | can anyone in the UK with DVB-S confirm that the BBC Mux, 2048, with BBC Three etc is still there? My scans aren't finding it |

| [01:10:30] | croppa: | How can I lock the video output from my mytytv box to either 1360 x 768 or 1080p no matter what the tv's tell it. I am using Ubuntu 13.10. It stays at either resolution until I turn off one tv then changes automatically to the reported resolution of the remaining tv. |
| [01:10:44] | croppa: | both tv's handle 1080p but one reports 1360 x 768 to the computer |
| [01:10:58] | croppa: | I am using hdmi to one set and dvi to the other. |
| [01:11:09] | wagnerrp: | stop using randr |
| [01:11:25] | croppa: | ? |
| [01:11:57] | wagnerrp: | randr is the X mechanism that allows dynamic resolution changing |
| [01:12:37] | croppa: | That sounds like a solution...How do I do that |
| [01:13:15] | wagnerrp: | normally one would configure that in /etc/X11/xorg.conf |
| [01:13:32] | wagnerrp: | but as i understand it, recent versions of ubuntu don't use one |
| [01:14:24] | croppa: | I have played with xorg.conf but as you said I don't think it uses it |
| [01:15:23] | croppa: | The problem is the automatic reseting of the resolution |
| [01:17:01] | wagnerrp: | i don't think you can disable one automatic aspect without disabling all of it, and manually generating an xorg.conf |
| [01:17:17] | wagnerrp: | depending on your television, you may have to force a custom EDID block |
| [01:17:52] | wagnerrp: | many televisions do not properly supply an EDID block over the interface when powered off |

| [01:34:50] | croppa: | thanks skd5aner .I have already done that however if I turn on tv off it resets to the resolution of the other if it is different |
| [01:35:39] | croppa: | the automatic stuff seems to override xorg.conf |
| [01:36:38] | skd5aner: | hmmm, not sure... I think you can disable edid |

I have the mysql server set up appropriately, but the remote frontend gives an error trying to connect to the master backend. I went into mythtv-setup and changed the master backend ip to something network-accessible, but I can't change the local backend IP; the form simply won't take any input from the keyboard for that field |
| [21:21:42] | Fnor: | great, and now fiddling with it has broken the working frontend |

| [21:28:15] | Twiggy2cents: | Now if only it would automatically cache all the images on the fe's. I have a lot of movies to click down through one at a time as they load. |
| [21:30:04] | Fnor: | segfault is based on the server ip mismatch, changing the master ip fixed it. Is there any way to manually change the local backend ip, since the GUI won't let me change it? |
| [21:31:01] | Twiggy2cents: | Fnor, ~/.mythtv/config.xml |
| [21:31:12] | wagnerrp: | Twiggy2cents: make install, yes... however there can be issues trying to build mythtv with a previous version installed |
| [21:31:48] | Twiggy2cents: | wagnerrp, so if you make install that doesnt mean that you are using the newest stuff until you restart myth right? |
| [21:32:29] | Fnor: | Twiggy2cents: I only see upnp, wol, and db entries in that file |
| [21:32:34] | Fnor: | nothing about backend ip settings |
| [21:33:16] | wagnerrp: | on POSIX systems, the application is loaded on first run, and you can do whatever you wish with the files afterwards, including delete or overwrite them |
| [21:33:28] | Twiggy2cents: | I just did a make install of stuartm's fix and it didnt fix it until I restarted mythtv |
| [21:33:45] | wagnerrp: | however, with MythTV, you can have issues if external programs get called |
| [21:33:58] | wagnerrp: | such as the metadata grabbers, or mythpreviewgen, or mythfilldatabase |
| [21:34:23] | wagnerrp: | since you're just upgrading from one point on 0.27-fixes to another, you shouldn't have any significant problems |
| [21:35:03] | wagnerrp: | what i was getting at is that depending on how you're building mythtv, there is the potential for the linker to grab installed copies of the libraries, rather than the in-tree ones |
| [21:35:10] | wagnerrp: | and either link improperly, or fail outright |
