[00:39:07] voyo: hi, I have issues with database every time Im upgrading mythtv. Some fields in tables are missing ALWAYS after upgrade. It works, mostly. But not everything.. ie. currently I cannot schedule new recordings...
[00:39:40] voyo: Unknown column 'recordmatch.findid' in 'field list'
[00:40:33] voyo: any advice ? what is best way to upgrade mythtv without recreating mythconverg from scratch ?? :/
[00:41:09] [R]: theres smomethign wrong with your database if the normal backend schema update doesnt work
[00:42:03] voyo: possible. because of previous upgrades... I think this db remembers days of 0.18 or something like that
[00:42:12] JohnHenri (JohnHenri!47c1c320@gateway/web/freenode/ip.71.193.195.32) has joined #mythtv-users
[00:42:56] voyo: always after upgrade something was missing. I had to manually add columns many times. but I have realy enough, it annoys me..
[00:43:03] JohnHenri: hello, I am having issues with a channel scan and I think it may be due to my card having both an analog and an hdtv input (though to my understanding, just a single tuner)
[00:43:07] [R]: you're doing soemthign wrong if things are "missing"
[00:43:32] wagnerrp: JohnHenri: specifically what card?
[00:43:38] voyo: yeah. only wrong thing Im doing is Im upgrading to newer mythtv version.. :/
[00:43:52] JohnHenri: channels are showing up on scan when i use the analog port on the card, but not on the hdtv, so im wondering if there is a setting somewhere
[00:43:57] wagnerrp: voyo: that's likely the problem
[00:43:59] JohnHenri: its ADS Tech InstantHDV
[00:44:00] voyo: if older was (prety) ok.
[00:44:05] JohnHenri: uses the nxt2004 driver
[00:44:12] wagnerrp: you keep manually manipulating your database, so each time you go to upgrade, it is unable to do so properly
[00:44:52] voyo: possible Im not saying no. but I'd like to hear an advice. what I should to do now, to get rid of those problems once and forever...
[00:44:57] JohnHenri: and a phillips tuner, to my understanding
[00:45:13] voyo: (and without loosing all my precious settings)
[00:45:30] wagnerrp: ideally, the first time you had a problem, recover the database from the backup made before the upgrade, and try again
[00:46:03] wagnerrp: now several manual updates past... no way to be sure without having someone who knows SQL look through the schema update code and manually sanitize your database
[00:46:29] voyo: wagnerrp : wont work. tried that. ie. last time I remember it was missing something in weather table (I never used this feature, does not work correctly in my country)
[00:46:32] wagnerrp: JohnHenri: no real purpose to using that for analog
[00:47:09] wagnerrp: although scanning should not be a problem in any case
[00:47:13] voyo: wagnerrp : I restored from backup, tried to upgrade schema again – no luck. then I manually added missing collumn.
[00:47:23] wagnerrp: since the digital tuner should only be locked if the backend is running
[00:47:35] wagnerrp: and you shouldn't be running the backend if you're trying to scan in mythtv-setup
[00:47:36] JohnHenri: right, and i dont want to, but when i have the line connected to the HDTV port, scan does not yield any results
[00:47:58] wagnerrp: what line? is this from an antenna? from digital cable? from a cable box?
[00:48:07] JohnHenri: no, the backend closes when i run setup
[00:48:13] JohnHenri: digital cable
[00:48:37] wagnerrp: are you certain there are actually unencrypted channels available on digital cable to scan for?
[00:48:53] JohnHenri: yes, scanned with my tv and about a dozen or so popped
[00:49:10] wagnerrp: when you scanned in mythtv, what parameters did you use?
[00:49:31] JohnHenri: and im showing encrypted and unencrypted channels when i do a qam256 scan with the feed into the analog port
[00:50:02] voyo: wagnerrp : maybe different question – how to get *full* (but empty) db schema ? I tried to create empty mythconverg, running setup created only part of tables. I dont want to waste time and recreate all transports, etc etc etc
[00:50:13] JohnHenri: tried all of the cable scans, cable, hrc, irc, at qam 256 and 64
[00:50:27] wagnerrp: should be regular cable, full channel list, qam265
[00:50:30] wagnerrp: 256
[00:50:50] JohnHenri: yes, and that yields results, but only when i use the 'analog' port
[00:51:04] wagnerrp: the analog port being the one towards the center of the card?
[00:51:10] JohnHenri: yes
[00:51:24] wagnerrp: sounds like something is miswired
[00:51:57] wagnerrp: voyo: everything should automatically get created the first time you run mythtv-setup
[00:52:23] JohnHenri: if its turning up digital channels from the 'analog' port, then it has to be getting a digital signal there, right, and not just the frame grabber?
[00:52:39] wagnerrp: JohnHenri: you have it configured as a "DVB DTV v3.x" card type, and using the /dev/dvb/adapter0/ input?
[00:53:13] JohnHenri: correct, i think its dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0
[00:58:24] voyo: wagnerrp : ok, I'll try that again, maybe I need to get further. Then I will manually alter all tables using this new schema.. cos I doubt it be possible to re-insert old values to new schema :/

[12:28:52] wagnerrp: lux_2: if you're unsure, exit edit mode, and play the video
[12:29:02] wagnerrp: areas that will be cut are automatically skipped during playback
[12:30:41] lux_2: ok the video between is deleted
[12:30:51] lux_2: how do i apply the cuts?
[12:31:29] wagnerrp: run mythtranscode

[12:34:08] lux_2: wagnerrp: do i have to run mythtranscode with a parameter? and can i run it from within mythfrontend?
[12:34:51] wagnerrp: select the recording, hit 'm', scroll to 'job options', and select 'transcode'
[12:35:20] wagnerrp: you will probably want to go into the configuration and have mythtv perform a lossless transcode
[12:35:27] wagnerrp: assuming it's an MPEG2 recording
[12:35:36] lux_2: yep it's mpeg2
[12:36:26] lux_2: wagnerrp: where do i configure it to do a lossless transcode?
[12:38:12] lux_2: i think i've seen the option before but i don't remember where
[12:42:51] lux_2: wagnerrp: i've done a transcode to profile 'standard' but the area i've cut is still there, what did i do wrong?

[12:51:29] lux_2: so i have to create a new profile, or is there already one that does lossless transcoding?
[12:52:49] lux_2: ok created a lossless profile
[12:58:26] lux_2: weird, now sound is gone from the recording
[12:58:47] lux_2: what could be the reason for this?

[13:02:46] lux_2: i'll try with another recording if it happens again
[13:06:53] lux_2: now sound is still there maybe it was because of another transcoding with the standard profile i did before
[13:07:37] lux_2: but i have another problem, now the time display is wrong, it shows the video is 26 hours long, although it's only 35 minutes, what could be the issue?
[13:19:37] lux_2: now i did another transcode and the duration seems right, hope it doesn't happen again

[13:55:31] lux_2: somethinginteres: would it help if i look where to setup language in setup and tell you where it's located?
[13:56:46] somethinginteres: lux_2: if you could find it that'd be great. I've looked and looked and can't find anywhere in the mythtv-setup to specify language. Only that original language popup screen on first run.
[13:57:29] lux_2: hum i neither can find it, at least not in general settings
[13:57:47] somethinginteres: lux_2: I've even tried looking in the mythconverg database to see if it's stored there. No luck. I know for mythfrontend you just run mythfrontend -p but mythtv-setup doesn't seem to have anything.
[13:58:23] lux_2: somethinginteres: maybe it's specified in some config file?
[13:59:37] somethinginteres: lux_2: I've tried looking in all the usual locations/ config files. It clearly is somewhere. I just can't find it. If I run mythtv-setup as root it prompts for language bc that setting for root hasn't been written to config. Which tells me it's clearly in a config file somewhere.
[14:00:07] somethinginteres: lux_2: not that I actually run mythtv-setup as root, but you know, for testing my theory etc. Reckon I'll go bonkers if I keep trying to work it out though.

[14:06:58] lux_2: somethinginteres: i'm looking through some config files, but i neither can find it :/
[14:07:49] somethinginteres: lux_2: yeah it's so weird. I ran a search on the database for "es_AU" – no results. Ran a search for "language" and "locale". No suitable results either.
[14:08:18] lux_2: somethinginteres: and searching for "lang"?
[14:08:31] lux_2: maybe it's only stored as a number
[14:09:54] somethinginteres: lux_2: I may have found it, could've sworn I ran a search for "lang" but.. will report back in a few minutes
[14:10:32] lux_2: somethinginteres: you could also ask in #mythtv, maybe some dev knows where the setting is located

It was in the settings table of mythconverg 2 entries for language. The one with just the language code fixed it. i.e. just "es". Changed that to "en" and it worked
