From my user level, 0mq is a collection of libraries for distributing messages (MythTV logging) and it is used by mythlogserver to do just that. A visible benefit is that signals, like SEGVs will now appear in MythTV logs. |

| [19:03:11] | tgm4883: | I'd still verify it's there |
| [19:03:23] | tgm4883: | although I think the logs would indicate that it's missing |

| [19:03:51] | tgm4883: | wagnerrp, so moar log data then? |

| [20:21:25] | lautriv: | i had only 46% on one core. |
| [20:22:00] | monkeypet: | mysqld peggs at 100% for awhile. |
| [20:23:01] | stuartm: | yeah, but it's non-blocking read/writes so even mfdb shouldn't negatively impact things too much, and that's one reason it prefers to run in the early hours of the morning |
| [20:23:22] | lautriv: | i will invoke a manual mythfill while looking at top (showing in the libing-room is active, so it should freeze if that was the case ) |
| [20:23:25] | wagnerrp: | it's non-blocking so long as you manage to keep that temp table in memory |
| [20:23:48] | wagnerrp: | on a poorly configured (read stock) database, a large channel lineup will overflow that table, and flush it to disk |
| [20:24:03] | wagnerrp: | at which point you suffer very heavy latency issues |
| [20:24:54] | wagnerrp: | i believe recent versions of mythtv should be forcing those temp tables to myisam as a way to bypass this issue |
| [20:25:16] | wagnerrp: | but for a time, when mysql 5.5 switched to innodb (and poor configurations at that) as default |
| [20:25:28] | wagnerrp: | users were seeing MFDB runs on the order of hours long |
| [20:25:51] | wagnerrp: | when it should only be taking a couple minutes |
| [20:26:24] | lautriv: | ok, mythfilldatabase raised mysqld up to a peak of 76,4% while the live-show was smooth and uninterrupted. |
| [20:26:48] | tgm4883: | wagnerrp, that is true, but I don't think it was mysqld that was pegging the CPU |
| [20:27:02] | wagnerrp: | no, it was just sitting there waiting on disk access |
| [20:27:11] | tgm4883: | yep |
| [20:29:20] | lautriv: | so what else may have happend or what could i tune then ? |

| [21:23:25] | stuartm: | because in my experience when people say "MythTV 0.xx didn't have that issue" most people don't tend to consider external factors cause by upgrading other stuff, or installing new hardware or even just that broadcast networks can and do change the way they encode video etc – all of which might have as much or more to do with the problems they are seeing now |

| [21:26:20] | stuartm: | lautriv: what were you running before that? An earlier version of 0.25 or 0.24? |
| [21:27:21] | stuartm: | I don't expect every user to know the difference, but it's frustrating for us when it turns out that people are blaming a new release for something that has nothing to do with MythTV, not dissimilar to someone blaming their brand new car because since they bought it they always seem to get stuck in traffic jams |

| [21:28:43] | stuartm: | 0.25 was in many ways much faster than 0.24, it shouldn't be slower |
| [21:29:49] | lautriv: | first thing i found was the skip (forward/backward) was much slower, then some issues appeared (mostly DB related) |
