[00:21:42] Beirdo: a fork
[00:22:11] Beirdo: well, in real life, it's a celtic necklace or armband type of thing... but in this context.
[00:23:20] Twiggy2cents: Hmm so was it a fork due to disagreement or that is just where he felt he needed to be?
[00:23:48] Beirdo: I'm not getting into it. Not in the mood right now :)

[01:04:04] sphery: wagnerrp: re #10510, did you notice that some of the hostname columns are case-sensitive in mysql?
[01:04:24] wagnerrp: no i did not
[01:04:38] sphery: specifically storagegroup
[01:04:52] wagnerrp: i have a patch that bypasses the issue entirely
[01:05:07] wagnerrp: but i need to read through it and make sure its not going to cause any weird implications on startup
[01:05:12] sphery: ah, wait, that's a dirname that's case-sensitive
[01:05:13] sphery: nvm
[01:05:21] wagnerrp: no, hostname
[01:05:25] wagnerrp: well, one of them is hostname
[01:05:33] wagnerrp: or are you saying the database thing is directory name?
[01:05:36] sphery: just remembered something in storagegroup was case-sensitive in the db
[01:05:45] sphery: db thing is storagegroup.dirname

[01:09:27] sphery: skipdb it seems
[01:09:38] wagnerrp: no, i mean who mentioned that?
[01:09:49] sphery: oh, I'm just asking
[01:10:08] wagnerrp: if youre not accessing the DB, you shouldnt be touching any backend either
[01:10:19] sphery: seems to me that might be the only time... unless we actually avoid creating a context, then, too
[01:10:23] wagnerrp: and IMHO, if that breaks databaseless mythcommflag, so be it
[01:10:30] sphery: though I don't know the startup stuff
[01:10:53] sphery: yeah, I don't mind if it breaks "I'm too good to use mythtv, but I'm still using mythcommflag"

[04:43:35] jya: you can change the playback profile from within the playback ?
[04:43:40] jya: didn't know that
[04:44:00] wagnerrp: i noticed the other day you could set the deinterlace options
[04:44:12] wagnerrp: i dont know if you can specifically set the playback profile
[04:48:37] jya: I doubt that would work in what I'm attempting to do anyway.. as I would have no database for which it can retrieve the profiles
[04:49:27] wagnerrp: you probably want to create a new LocalHostName, configure it how you want
[04:49:42] wagnerrp: and then dump all the resultant options into an override settings file
[04:50:05] wagnerrp: but that still only works for the 'settings' table
[04:50:17] wagnerrp: those playback profiles wont even exist in the first place
[04:50:24] wagnerrp: they will have never been created

[04:52:15] jya: that would be the simplest.

[04:52:39] jya: like create a dummy database, start a new config and run it
[04:52:43] wagnerrp: i *think* its just a bit key=value list
[04:52:58] jya: much much easier than what I started to work on...
[04:53:05] wagnerrp: but thats still only going to get you the settings table
[04:53:20] jya: I don't need anything else
[04:53:32] wagnerrp: you need the playback profiles
[04:53:49] jya: those will be in the settings table
[04:54:03] wagnerrp: the chosen playback profile will be in the settings table
[04:54:20] jya: aren't the profiles themselves set in the database?
[04:55:05] wagnerrp: displayprofiles and displayprofilegroup tables
[04:55:27] jya: how do you generate the settings file from the database ?
[04:56:02] wagnerrp: i was thinking just write a simple script
[04:56:41] wagnerrp: cursor.execute("""SELECT key,data FROM settings WHERE hostname=<whatever>""")
[04:57:06] wagnerrp: for k,v in cursor.fetchall(): print "{0}={1}".format(k,v)
[04:57:26] jya: let me try that.
[04:57:52] wagnerrp: those will pre-configure all the settings, so it will pull from the cache, rather than fall through to the database
[04:58:18] wagnerrp: however as mentioned, that will just let you tell mythavtest what profile to use
[04:58:31] wagnerrp: mythavtest wont actually know what that profile is without the database
[04:58:46] jya: yeah.. that's okay.. I can hack the code quickly to use a static profile I've defined myself
[04:59:01] wagnerrp: ok
[05:05:22] jya: damn.. sphery gave me a special command line to run so I wouldn't see "Not allowed to upgrade the database."
[05:05:26] jya: but I can't remember

[20:32:43] wagnerrp: i dont see why there would be a need
[20:33:02] wagnerrp: i mean thats extra code to have a limit

[20:34:47] justinh: pretty sure there was a limit. anyway now it goes up to the end of sdevs
[20:35:06] justinh: this would all have been a very long time ago anyway
[20:35:38] justinh: back then you'd have been hard pressed to fit that many tuners in a box
[20:36:26] justinh: in that -users thread janneg said "Depending on the mythtv version you have to make different changes in

[20:36:43] justinh: rats. that should have been 2 lines

[23:41:02] Plugh: My cable provider is going 100% digital so I'm going to be stuck with using an external digital to analog converter. Can someone remind me what setting I have to change so I can schedule the channel I want to watch but have MythTV stay on channel 3?
[23:41:53] rumblebumble: Anyone try HD PVR driver version 1.7.1.30059
[23:42:06] wagnerrp: Plugh: why would you want to do that?
[23:42:20] wagnerrp: svideo or composite capture not an option?
[23:42:31] wagnerrp: you have no choice but to do modulated RF?
[23:43:38] Plugh: wagnerrp: The external converter outputs the selected signal on either 3 or 4 and I've set it to 3. My PVR150 needs to stay on channel 3 input or else I won't be able to watch/record my programs. At the moment, if a scheduled recording kicks in for a program on cable 21 MythTV changes the PVR to that channel and I just see snow.
[23:44:08] Plugh: The box where the old TV and the new adapter are located is about half a room away from where the computer and the PVR150 are located.
[23:44:25] wagnerrp: if you had an external channel changer script (which you need), mythtv would not attempt to change channels using the internal tuner at all
[23:44:40] Plugh: ok. I can set up a dummy changer script.
[23:44:59] wagnerrp: in the same location you set that, there is a box to allow you to force the channel for the internal tuner
[23:45:06] wagnerrp: there will be two similar options
[23:45:12] wagnerrp: one is an edit box to set the forced channel
[23:45:18] Plugh: yeah, a channel preset option IIRC
[23:45:27] wagnerrp: the other is a dropdown to select the starting channel used when starting livetv
[23:45:38] Plugh: Saw that but it didn't stop it from changing channels. If I add a dummy change script that might be what it needs.
[23:45:49] wagnerrp: in mythtv-setup, section 4
[23:46:13] wagnerrp: correct, that option only carries any relevance if you have an external channel changer script defined
[23:46:22] wagnerrp: (which without one, mythtv will be of little worth)
[23:47:19] Plugh: "Preset to channel" I have set to 3. I'll make a dummy script that won't do anything and feed the name of the script to MythTV.
[23:47:28] Plugh: ah, ok. Thanks.
[23:47:38] wagnerrp: or use '/bin/true'
[23:47:57] Plugh: oh, right. I was trying to think if there was something simple to use.

[23:49:57] Plugh: Not sure if its taking a touch longer to "change channel" but its not too bad.
[23:51:20] Plugh: Next step will be to find a way to set up some kind of IR sending system to tell the external adapter to change channel.
[23:52:13] Plugh: That will be a separate bit of research to see what's out there for that.
