[00:37:24] compdoc: when I scan comcast qam channels, the channel numbers show up as 2_1, etc rather than 2.1 so schdules direct cant seem to match stuff up. is there a website with info to help fix this?
[00:40:23] [R]: there is a setting in myth scanner to set the seperator
[00:40:41] compdoc: hmm, ok
[00:42:38] compdoc: where is that?
[00:43:01] [R]: in the scanner...
[00:44:04] compdoc: theres Input Connections, where the scanning is done, but no options there
[00:45:58] [R]: hrm, maybe they removed it
[00:46:00] NewBuntu81: are you sure you're not getting over the air channels in there too?
[00:46:01] [R]: just goto the chanenl editor
[00:46:02] [R]: and fix it
[00:46:16] NewBuntu81: my tv gets the whole digit numbers, and then some over the air digital ones too
[00:50:31] iamlindoro: ATSC channels are hardcoded to use the _ separator. Just edit the channels and change them to what you want them to be-- or just assign them the correct XMLTVids
[00:50:33] davide_ (davide_!~david@mythtv/developer/gigem) has quit (Read error: Operation timed out)
[00:51:05] iamlindoro: Note that's ATSC signalled channels-- all other found channels (regular ClearQAM) without ATSC signalling will use the separator you set

[00:52:21] davide_ (davide_!~david@mythtv/developer/gigem) has joined #mythtv-users
[00:52:27] iamlindoro: The simpler solution is to just edit the channels since you'll have to do that for the non-ATSC signalled ones, and set XMLTVids for all of them. Easiest way to do that in .24 and less is the mythweb channel editor. Easiest way in master is the backend web setup channel editor

[01:37:23] NewBuntu81: There is no composite/svideo out...so obviously I set the adapter up as analog mode and to channel 3 or 4 as selected on the box.

[01:57:11] NewBuntu81: cmfisher, what OS and version?
[01:57:38] NewBuntu81: and do you mean HVR-2250?
[01:58:28] cmfisher4: Yes, HVR-2250. Using Fedora 14...found the drivers (I think) at a Steven Toth's site...but frankly, it's very intimidating coming from windows...willing to learn, though
[01:59:24] cmfisher4: I've followed the wiki on his site, but I'm getting 404 Not Found for the driver listed in the wiki...assume there is an updated one
[02:06:49] xilet: honestly the hauppauge 2250 works out of the box with the latest kernel
[02:07:48] cmfisher4: xilet: well, that would make it easy...again, total noob...is there any "device manager" equivalent that I can look at to see if the card is being recognized?
[02:07:56] NewBuntu81: also with 2.6.35.6–45 (cd version of fedora 14)
[02:08:01] kc: cmfisher4: you probably just need the firmware. Check dmesg | grep saa7164
[02:08:15] kc: Look for firmware not found or something like that
[02:08:30] NewBuntu81: you can also do a "dmesg | grep firmware" to see if the firmware is loading. if so, paste what one its trying to use
[02:08:49] NewBuntu81: you should be using this firmware, "NXP7164-2010-03–10.1.fw"
[02:08:57] NewBuntu81: firmware=driver in windows terminology :-)
[02:09:00] cmfisher4: i just did the lsmod...shows the saa7164 module, which i remember seeing on the websites
[02:09:31] cmfisher4: NewBuntu81: yeah, installing firmware makes me nervous...drivers..not so much :)
[02:10:33] NewBuntu81: do a "uname -a" without quotes, tell us what version you're using. it changes after patches if you patch the kernel.
[02:11:10] cmfisher4: kc: okay, using the dmesg | grep saa7164...says waiting for firmware upload (that fails) NSP7164-2010-03–10.1.fw
[02:11:11] NewBuntu81: Does anyone have guidance on setting up a Comcast DTA? It stays on channel 3/4 (whatever you set) and requires an IR blaster.
[02:11:44] wagnerrp: NewBuntu81: what exactly is your question?
[02:11:58] kc: NSP or NXP?
[02:12:14] cmfisher4: 2.6.35.12–88.fc14.x86_64
[02:12:18] NewBuntu81: cmfisher4: try reading the backend and frontend logs. should be under /var/firmware/mythtv and named mythbackend.log and mythfrontend.log.
[02:12:20] cmfisher4: kc: NXP
[02:12:26] kc: http://steventoth.net/linux/hvr22xx/firmwares/4019072/
[02:13:09] cmfisher4: NewBuntu81: haven't installed mythtv yet...wanted to make sure my drivers were good first
[02:13:40] cmfisher4: kc: ok...again, hate to say this, but now where would I put the driver?
[02:14:05] NewBuntu81: wagnerrp: I've never used [any] IR blaster before. I was told by clgshaft that the hvr2250 integrated blaster isn't functional, stoth also verified. So at this point, can you point me to a link...a how to?
[02:14:16] NewBuntu81: /lib/firmware
[02:14:31] wagnerrp: most people pick up an MCEUSB unit
[02:14:38] NewBuntu81: cmfisher4: but check there first to see if it's already there
[02:14:42] wagnerrp: theyre readily available, fairly cheap, and well supported
[02:15:03] wagnerrp: when you configure an input, there are two places to enter a channel number
[02:15:14] wagnerrp: the dropdown is mythtv's default channel for livetv
[02:15:24] wagnerrp: the text entry box is for channel 3, or 4
[02:15:30] wagnerrp: whatever the tuner must be preset to
[02:15:35] NewBuntu81: ok
[02:15:43] NewBuntu81: i'm familiar with the xmlid too, use that a lot
[02:16:04] cmfisher4: don't see that driver in there...bunch of folders, but don't see any happague ones...no NXP firmware
[02:16:30] NewBuntu81: cmfisher: do a "locate NXP7164-2010-03–10.1.fw"
[02:16:38] kc: cmfisher4: yea, if dmesg reports the .fw file missing, you need to download it and place it in /lib/firmware
[02:16:42] NewBuntu81: cmfisher: if it's on there, it will tell you where
[02:17:40] roger__: how can I upgrade my mythtv frontend to 0.24 without updating the OS to 11.04 ?
[02:17:56] cmfisher4: okay...having permission problems now....
[02:18:01] wagnerrp: roger__: use the mythbuntu ppas
[02:18:29] roger__: googleing it
[02:19:45] roger__: thanks
[02:20:00] kc: cmfisher4: access denied?
[02:20:21] cmfisher4: kc: yeah, trying to figure out how to do root access in the gui
[02:21:06] kc: dunno. Easier just to "sudo mv /path/to/file.fw /lib/firmware" in a terminal
[02:21:26] sphery: roger__: http://www.mythbuntu.org/repos
[02:22:48] roger__: But this is a full Ubuntu Install, there's no mythbuntu control centre
[02:23:24] roger__: suppose I could install it
[02:24:24] roger__: The backend is on a seperate machine running mythbuntu... this is a workstation using ubuntu
[02:25:12] NewBuntu81: wagnerrp: i ordered an HP 5070–2584.
[02:25:43] NewBuntu81: wagnerrp: looks like this. http://www.compsupportla.com/ebay/12272008/remote/5070-2584.JPG
[02:26:40] cmfisher4: kc: moved successfully....
[02:27:23] NewBuntu81: cmfisher4: easier to use the commands, but you can use "sudo nautilus" if you have that installed.
[02:27:52] cmfisher4: no, i don't...it's been a while since my dos days, though...last cli that I've done was about 20 years ago
[02:29:14] cmfisher4: kc: do i reboot to try and get it to now find the drivers?
[02:29:59] kc: That would be the easiest way
[02:30:15] kc: Or you could remove and reload the kernel module
[02:30:38] cmfisher4: kc: no, that sounds too dangerous...see what happens

[02:37:00] kc: Good to hear
[02:39:26] cmfisher4: thanks!
[02:40:37] kc: Welcome. How are you planning on using the tuners... both analog/digital or mixed?
[02:42:44] mycoDA: for next time – roger could have installed mythbuntu-control-center and it would do all the setup for him
[02:43:52] cmfisher4: i have no idea...lol...just basic cable coming in...just want to make a high-priced vcr
[02:45:20] kc: k, should be no prob
[02:49:08] wagnerrp: cmfisher4: does that mean you want to manually define when and where to record?
[02:51:32] cmfisher4: wagnerrp: frankly, I have no idea what that means...i am VERY new at linux and this will be my first install of mythtv now that i have the drivers working (i think)

[03:13:32] xilet: thrift stores are great for them
[03:14:51] NewBuntu81: they make good tuners if you need one for something LOL

[21:31:43] Beirdo: just wondering if it's safe to merge the commandline branch into the new-logging one
[21:32:12] Beirdo: were there still things pending there? I can't remember :)
[21:32:20] wagnerrp: testing was still pending
[21:32:39] Beirdo: ahh
[21:32:40] wagnerrp: plus there still a decision to be made about type safety
[21:33:04] Beirdo: ahh
[21:33:34] Beirdo: be good to get some closure on that so we can move on :)

[21:38:04] iamlindoro: I wonder if it might make sense to fix the brokenness in the ffmpeg merge before we do too many more merges
[21:38:40] Beirdo: before merging into master, sure
[21:38:57] iamlindoro: Ah, I misread, you meant to merge two non-master branches
[21:39:30] Beirdo: heh, nah, I was thinking of merging the commandlineparser -> new-logging
[21:39:40] Beirdo: but not into master. not for a bit yet
[21:39:54] Beirdo: but I've hit a point where I'd be changing what he's already changed
[21:40:20] Beirdo: it's a good point to pause at and bug-fix the stuff in master though
[21:40:57] Beirdo: need to make a new to-do list so I don't forget stuff too :)
[21:41:46] Beirdo: OK, let's see what the problem is with that mheg stuff now that I have some time to look at it properly

[22:31:20] Lexridge: Happy Easter everyone. I have a problem, and I am somewhat sure this should be directed at the devs, but I will ask here first.
[22:31:58] Lexridge: Anything I record from my off-air CBS affiliate (which I work for), mythfrontend cannot fast forward or rewind through the programming.
[22:32:10] Lexridge: Note, this only happens with v .24
[22:33:20] Lexridge: The exact same thing happened on Dish Network DVRs when they added the local stations to their lineup.
[22:33:54] Lexridge: However, they fixed it after about 2 months. All receivers got a firmware update to handle the issue.
[22:36:56] Lexridge: it has something to do with the mpeg header our encoder was making (Adtec). They said although it did follow the MPEG standard, it was not like everyone elses headers.
[22:37:17] Lexridge: That said, I am CERTAIN we are not the only TV station using Adtec encoders.
[22:38:19] Lexridge: and they (Dish Network) did NOT tell us what the header difference was either.
[22:38:57] Lexridge: Is everyone taking a nap after Easter dinner? lol

[23:41:34] trumee: wagnerrp: no, in asia
[23:42:18] wagnerrp: im not sure what this 'try-all' parameter you talk of is
[23:42:27] trumee: wagnerrp: and i dont have any channel line-ups. So have to rely on random frequencies
[23:42:58] wagnerrp: well its not random, you use the defined frequency table for your area
[23:43:03] trumee: wagnerrp: "try-all" is under Channel frequency table
[23:43:46] trumee: wagnerrp: previously i had used xawtv to scan the all the frequencies.
[23:45:48] trumee: wagnerrp: in 0.24 it seems myth is not taking its time to scan the frequencies, it is simply zipping through to create the channel numbers
[23:46:34] wagnerrp: it should be doing a proper scan
[23:58:57] trumee: wagnerrp: i should set it up as IVTV MPEG-2 encoder card?
[23:59:20] trumee: wagnerrp: rather than Analogue V4L capture card?
[23:59:43] wagnerrp: yes, you should be using the IVTV card type
