[00:00:03] seandiddy: garbage...random colors
[00:00:21] wagnerrp: mythfilldatabase doesnt factor into this

[00:00:54] wagnerrp: if you got garbage, you were successfully tuning the channel, however the power levels were either too high or too low to use with your tuner
[00:01:07] wagnerrp: so you have a cable amp?
[00:01:27] seandiddy: Time warner Has a Cable Box
[00:01:49] seandiddy: I by passed it with a spitter from the house feed
[00:02:07] seandiddy: also tried off cable out on box
[00:02:32] wagnerrp: cable companies generally give you enough power to run ~4 devices off the incoming signal
[00:02:41] seandiddy: gave up, cause I thought my tuner card was incompatible
[00:02:41] wagnerrp: beyond that, you will probably have to amplify it
[00:03:02] seandiddy: so by unhooking a box i should be good
[00:03:02] wagnerrp: and your cablebox will only output an analog signal over the RF connector, not digital
[00:03:10] wagnerrp: try it, see what happens
[00:03:10] seandiddy: from the cable
[00:03:17] seandiddy: will try

[00:17:00] Dagmar: Everyone who's read the documentation carefully.
[00:17:26] wagnerrp: v4l cameras can be set up as v4l framegrabbers
[00:17:30] seandiddy: can you point me in the Right Direction
[00:17:57] seandiddy: works in vlc, cant integrate into Mythtv

[00:19:01] Dagmar: It must present a video stream through v4l.
[00:19:30] Dagmar: You must then create a fake source with a fake channel and bind it to that v4l input
[00:19:54] Dagmar: ...and ignore any complaints from myth that it can't set the channel.
[00:20:18] seandiddy: ahh, thanks saved me all that reading
[00:20:28] wagnerrp: no it didnt
[00:20:33] Dagmar: "Everyone who's read the documentation carefully."
[00:20:35] wagnerrp: you still need to read it and understand it
[00:20:35] Keli: wagnerrp: now indeed the largest mark in the recordedmarkup is not the last frame in the recording, if I look at the lenght of the recording I got from the mythtranscode "dump" it is about 28minutes, however the myth frontend will only let me see 25 minutes and 11 seconds (both according to the cut editor and if I just skip ahead)
[00:20:46] wagnerrp: or else youre going to get lost trying to accomplish what dagmar told you to do
[00:22:03] Keli: wagnerrp: no commercial flagging is applied or anything

[00:35:57] Keli: now why would the myth frontend tell me a un-edited/cut/commflagged recording is 25:11 in length when in fact it is 28:18 in length
[00:36:22] wagnerrp: bad seektable?
[00:36:35] Keli: where is the seektable stored?
[00:36:47] Dagmar: ...or a cooked recording
[00:36:50] Dagmar: It sometimes happens
[00:36:58] Keli: does the player query the db for the length of recording?
[00:36:59] wagnerrp: recordedseek
[00:37:04] wagnerrp: yes

[00:38:16] Keli: dagmar: seems to be a problem for most my recordings
[00:38:56] Dagmar: Well, I got my HD-PVR
[00:38:59] Keli: ok recordedseek, mark is the framenumber, offset is the byte index into the file?
[00:39:04] abqjp: Keli what is the source of the recording?
[00:39:09] Dagmar: With a little luck, UPS will have acually left the firewire card on my doorstep today
[00:39:16] Keli: abqjp: hauppauge 150 card
[00:39:23] Dagmar: The HD-PVR actually arrived on the 4th, so clearly Hauppauge has them
[00:39:45] abqjp: Keli: in that case, I don't know. If it was ATSC, then I would have an idea.
[00:40:01] Keli: 02:09.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc iTVC16 (CX23416) MPEG-2 Encoder (rev 01)
[00:40:04] Keli: according to lspci
[00:40:08] Dagmar: Keli: So, possibly just a cooked recording. Double-check that you have hte latest firmware available and call it a day
[00:40:37] Keli: dagmar: ok, firmware... didn't know I could firmware upgrade these cards
[00:40:39] abqjp: Keli: with ATSC (and other digital sources), the broadcaster can leave out fields as a type of compression. Since Myth uses the number of fields/frames to determine length, it ends up reporting the show as being short.
[00:40:45] Dagmar: i'm still not convinced that the streams that come from the 150/500 aren't genunely just barely compatible
[00:40:55] Dagmar: You don't firmware upgrade them
[00:41:02] Dagmar: They don't store their firmware across reboots.
[00:41:27] Dagmar: This is why you need the firmware in /lib/firmware for the kernel/udev stuff to find and feed to the card
[00:41:27] Keli: dagmar: ok how can I check firmware revision?
[00:41:35] Dagmar: You mainly check the ivtv website
[00:41:37] Keli: /lib/firmware
[00:42:07] Keli: v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw
[00:42:10] Dagmar: You will not be able to identfy a "revision". They are not tagged in that way.
[00:42:28] wagnerrp: you can only do so by matching the md5sum
[00:42:35] Keli: I guess this is the one, just what came with mythbuntu 9.10
[00:42:51] Dagmar: You will only be able to tell if you have the most recent versions by comparing md5sums and possibly by going to hauppage's site, getting the latest windows driver, and manually extracting the firmware from it and renaming it according to the instructions on the ivtv wiki

[00:45:23] Dagmar: The _original_ recording, of course

[01:01:24] Shadow__X: Dagmar: and spoil all the fun?
[01:01:31] Dagmar: Keli: It's altogether possible there's something screwy in the compiled binaries

[01:02:38] Dagmar: You don't bother.
[01:02:40] Keli: I then started havign my mythbox install the 0.22-fixes branch .deb packages
[01:02:57] Keli: and still seeing this issue
[01:03:15] clever: mythfrontend --reset i think
[01:03:24] Dagmar: No.
[01:03:28] clever: hipitihop: '-r or --reset Resets frontend appearance settings and language'
[01:03:29] Dagmar: There's a simple override.
[01:03:36] Dagmar: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Override_settings
[01:03:36] clever: yeah -O on one of the options
[01:03:40] clever: but i dont remember the name
[01:04:48] sean_: on your frontend goto setup apperance and the on the first screen change from GL to QT painter
[01:05:03] clever: sean_: but he cant the menu because GL is borked
[01:05:10] clever: so he cant find that setup page
[01:05:16] Keli: dagmar: the orignal problem I'm trying to debug is that when I use the cut editor in myth frontend to cut out stuff in front and after the interesting part of the recording and then play it, myth will stop the playback at the wrong place in the recording. Maybe thats a whole different problem but when digging into it I noticed this issue with difference in actual recording lenght and number of frames and what myth front tells me the length is
[01:05:25] sean_: then he needs to change a file
[01:05:35] sean_: or overide
[01:06:07] Dagmar: Keli: Never ever do that while the commflagger is going
[01:06:19] clever: that reminds me
[01:06:25] Dagmar: ...or while a transcode job is going on that file.
[01:06:27] clever: if i'm playing a file durring a transcode
[01:06:34] clever: when the transcode ends, playback ends
[01:06:39] Dagmar: The thing gets completely screwed up when you do that

[01:07:07] Keli: dagmar: ok.. I don't let myth commflag my recordings, but I don't know if commflagger still runs?

[01:07:28] Keli: dagmar: and I dont let it do any transcoding automatically
[01:08:05] hipitihop: sean, I cannot do anything on the actual frontend as it fails to show the menu and does not respond to keyboard or mouse

[01:08:55] Dagmar: once you've actually got the frontend running you can go into it's settings and permanently change the painter

[01:11:13] Keli: dagmar: now after the rebuild I get the correct length of the recording in the frontend!
[01:11:33] Keli: now I can fix, only question is why it was bad

[01:20:08] Keli: now that I know that I'm seeing bad seektables I can better try to understand what causes them
[01:21:44] Dagmar: I'm guessing the backend log will probably be saying something wierd, or that the backend will *maybe* be saying something to stdout/stderr
[01:22:05] hipitihop: clever, dagmar , that's sorted things, many thanks
[01:22:34] Dagmar: I wouldn't call it clever being that the only reason I know it was that I broke my install about 30–40 times at first

[01:33:54] he1: using the dvd archive feature of myth is nice for that

[06:31:21] k_ross: capturing via firewire is proving to be a royal pain. i keep having to rmmod/modprobe the firewire_ohci module.
[06:32:53] k_ross: i was hoping i could use firewire capture on most channels, since i get lots of unencrypted channels, and just use my HD-PVR's on the encrypted ones
[06:33:12] k_ross: it doesn't seem to be cooperating with me. i guess i'll just be sticking with the hd-pvr's
[06:33:56] [R]: why bother with firewire
[06:33:58] [R]: if you ahve the hdpvr
[06:34:34] k_ross: just with the very limited testing i've been able to do, video quality is better with firewire
[06:34:51] wagnerrp: marginally
[06:35:19] wagnerrp: the problem with firewire is that it is not consistent, 5C can change per-show, with no warning
[06:35:27] k_ross: ugh
[06:35:38] k_ross: didn't know that, thought it would be per-channel, not per show
[06:36:00] k_ross: i was going to setup my scedules direct lineups accordingly
[06:36:35] k_ross: never mind then. i'll stick with my hd-pvr's. they work pretty reliably
[06:36:47] [R]: are you bitrates set too low?
[06:37:02] k_ross: i have all the sliders pushed to the right
[06:37:12] wagnerrp: sneezing makes me hurt all over...
[06:37:35] [R]: k_ross: you're not gonna get CBR at 13.5 with that
[06:38:11] k_ross: [R]: are you saying i should set it differently?
[06:38:19] k_ross: for highest quality?
[06:38:27] [R]: well the highest is gonna be CBR at 13.5
[06:38:32] [R]: and you're not gonna get that with what you deswcribed
[06:39:03] k_ross: ok i think i understand
[06:39:25] k_ross: let me navigate to the recording profiles page....
[06:40:31] k_ross: ok avg. bitrate is 13.5, and max bitrate is 20.2, implying VBR, not CBR
[06:40:50] Tanthrix (Tanthrix!n=tanthrix@c-98-246-133-36.hsd1.or.comcast.net) has joined #mythtv-users

[06:41:10] k_ross: oh
[06:41:13] k_ross: :(
[06:41:22] k_ross: edit in the db?
[06:41:24] Tanthrix: Does anyone know if using a PCi Express 2.0 card in a 1.0 slot would cause issues with VDPAU not performing at its best?
[06:41:33] k_ross: or is there a spot in mythweb?
[06:42:16] [R]: no clue
[06:42:18] [R]: i edited the db
[06:42:19] wagnerrp: Tanthrix: not specifically, no
[06:42:28] [R]: of course... my crappy usb can't even handle over 4mbits
[06:42:36] wagnerrp: however there have been reports of systems that downclocked themselves because the CPU was not being used
[06:42:44] wagnerrp: at the lower clock rate, there were bus contention issues
[06:42:57] Tanthrix: wagnerrp: Caused by automatic CPU scaling?
[06:43:01] wagnerrp: yes
[06:43:09] Tanthrix: Isn't that adjustable though, if the issue arrises?
[06:43:18] wagnerrp: yes, you just disable it
[06:43:38] wagnerrp: or now, you could disable it temporarily using the even subsystem
[06:43:42] wagnerrp: event
[06:44:33] Tanthrix: Gotcha. Well, hopefully running in an older slot won't reduce the bandwidth in a similar way. Or at least, in a way that similarily affects performance.
[06:46:19] Tanthrix: wagnerrp: If you were a gambler, would you go with a GT 220 and hope the old slot spec isn't an issue, or play it safe by getting a 1.0 older card, like a 9xxx series?
[06:47:06] Tanthrix: (For purposes of VDPAU, obviously)
[06:47:09] wagnerrp: its a non-issue
[06:47:11] wagnerrp: dont worry about it
[06:47:17] Tanthrix: Good enough for me. I'll go with the 220.
[06:47:28] Tanthrix: Thanks for the info. Much obliged.
[06:49:08] Tanthrix: On a related note, does anyone know if there is any funny business going on with cheapie GT 220 cards with regards to DVI and HDMI slots being mutually exclusive?
[06:49:35] wagnerrp: not that im aware of
[06:49:48] Tanthrix: I'm going to need to output 1080p on HDMI, and have a DVI monitor as well. I have a faint memory of some older cards that just had an HDMI connector as a built in adapter that essentially shared the DVI port.
[06:49:52] wagnerrp: on those cards, youre only going to have two simultaneously usable outputs
[06:49:58] wagnerrp: so if you have three outputs
[06:50:07] wagnerrp: something will be mutually exclusive
[06:50:47] Tanthrix: Good to know – sounds like everything should be good to go, then.
[06:51:02] Tanthrix: I'm excited, I've been out of the loop for so long I didn't realize vdpau had gotten so advanced and well supported.

[07:12:41] Dagmar: They pointed out many other people who were doing worse and didn't get so much as a warning--the idea being that the guy would behave if there were equal treatment instead of the uneven enforcement

[13:08:07] amidaniel: Seems to be. Direct to the TV looks pristine
[13:08:15] ** hipitihop wishes he could spell aerial **
[13:08:37] hipitihop: what is the output from pc to tv ?
[13:08:42] amidaniel: And I removed just about everything from the box, video card, wifi card ... disconnected the rear fans.
[13:09:11] amidaniel: Right now I'm running through a d-sub to a standard monitor. When going to tv, using s-video. Makes no difference. Seems to be on the capture side
[13:09:35] hipitihop: aah, so actual recoding appears to have imperfections
[13:09:57] hipitihop: have you checked stream from mythweb ?
[13:10:08] amidaniel: Here's a sample video: http://www.cs.unm.edu/~dccannon/junk/problem.mpg
[13:10:09] hipitihop: e.g. asx
[13:10:16] amidaniel: No, I have not
[13:13:11] hipitihop: eek
[13:13:33] amidaniel: Ya :)
[13:13:35] hipitihop: is this a pci card ? tried changing slots ?
[13:13:52] amidaniel: PCI, yes. No ... suppose I could. Only have two
[13:14:09] amidaniel: Just a sec
[13:14:52] hipitihop: being a dual, I assume it has two inputs, have you swapped the inputs also ?
[13:15:21] hipitihop: if it is one of the inputs faulty then the problem should switch from analog to digital etc
[13:15:45] inordkuo (inordkuo!n=inorkuo@97.66.21.169) has joined #mythtv-users
[13:18:41] amidaniel: Well, one of the inputs is digital; the other is analog
[13:18:54] amidaniel: The card is the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 1600
[13:18:59] hipitihop: I see, makes sense
[13:19:40] amidaniel: What bothers me the most, though, is that 2 (FOX), 4 (NBC), 6 (WB), etc ... come in pretty well. The OTA channels
[13:20:04] amidaniel: Which are also transmitted in digital, though I cant imagine that would make a difference
[13:20:24] amidaniel: Same issue in the other PCI slot, btw
[13:21:40] hipitihop: ok re slot, it was a grasp at a straw... so those analog channels are fine when connected direct to tv
[13:21:54] hipitihop: sure is sounding like the card
[13:22:23] hipitihop: you don't happen to have another analog card or usb tuner to test with ?
[13:22:41] amidaniel: Woa, woa, well I'll be goddamned. I switched to the other input (which should just be DVB). I'm getting CNN through it just fine; no banding
[13:22:55] amidaniel: Well, it's grainy. But no bands
[13:23:02] ** amidaniel scratches head **
[13:23:30] ** hipitihop hand amidaniel a rake **
[13:24:20] amidaniel: But how bizarre. The OTA channels are now not being picked up
[13:25:27] amidaniel: And the other channels are super grainy
[13:25:29] hipitihop: are you testing this under myth or some other sw
[13:25:33] amidaniel: Some worse than others
[13:25:48] amidaniel: Right not I'm just running "vlc /dev/video0"
[13:26:16] amidaniel: And using ivtv-tune to tune it
[13:26:24] amidaniel: But lemme look at myth

[13:31:42] amidaniel: Let me try doing a channel scan through the backend
[13:31:51] ** hipitihop nods **
[13:32:08] amidaniel: Does that adjust the tuning at all or just use the standard offsets and test if there's a signal there?
[13:32:36] hipitihop: not sure ... but the offsets are editable afaik

[14:04:03] clever: sde is the normal usb stick, sdf is the SD card (in a reader)
[14:04:10] patdk-wk: clever, many reasons why :)
[14:04:28] clever: patdk-wk: and a few of them are?
[14:04:30] amidaniel: Hmmm .... I almost wonder if it would be possible to run the video into the card through component from the TV, which can do a much nicer job with the cable signal than the card apparently can
[14:04:40] patdk-wk: you write to drives at 512bytes at a time
[14:04:50] patdk-wk: flash normally likes 16k, 32k, 64k, or higher
[14:04:58] amidaniel: clever: That seems plausible to me. It depends upon how they break up the drives.
[14:04:59] clever: different page sizes?
[14:05:05] patdk-wk: so they normally put a second chip in to buffer it
[14:05:08] amidaniel: SD using 16k sector sizes typically, IIRC
[14:05:12] patdk-wk: sounds like in the one, they stole a part to do it
[14:05:21] amidaniel: uses*
[14:05:21] patdk-wk: amidaniel, it depends on the side
[14:05:30] amidaniel: Ah, okay
[14:05:30] patdk-wk: the bigger the flash, the larger the page size
[14:05:40] clever: i was trying to write a 2gig disk image to the SD card
[14:05:45] clever: but it is ~2mb smaller
[14:05:47] patdk-wk: why larger flash is slower for random writing than smaller flash
[14:05:49] amidaniel: Never ever trust what drivemakers tell you about the size of their drives though :)
[14:05:55] clever: so i lost the end of the XFS file system
[14:06:14] patdk-wk: ya, you should assume 1000, not 1024
[14:06:20] patdk-wk: and even then, some lie about it :)
[14:06:31] clever: yeah, my 15b drive was more like 932gig :P
[14:06:36] clever: 1tb
[14:06:39] patdk-wk: I normally take what they say, at 1000x, and -1g
[14:07:00] amidaniel: You're more generous than I :)
[14:07:19] patdk-wk: ya, a 1tb drive should be 931.32gigs
[14:07:29] patdk-wk: but I like to play it alittle save, and say 930gig
[14:07:36] patdk-wk: or for raid purposes, 900gig :)
[14:07:46] amidaniel: So this is so interesting. The OTA channels and HBO look excellent on the other input, while all the other channels are shit. On this input, the OTA channels and HBO are snow, while the other channels look (relatively) good.
[14:08:14] clever: if i can shrink my XFS filesystem by a few mb, it should be good
[14:08:24] patdk-wk: normally flash drives don't have this issue, cause flash is made in 1024x, not 1000x, but well, you never know :)
[14:09:01] clever: patdk-wk: yeah, i almost always see sizes in base2, 128mb 1g 2g 4g 32g ...

[14:14:36] patdk-wk: windows can only see the first partition

[14:14:47] clever: yeah, i cant even delete the partition from windows
[14:14:49] patdk-wk: so you don't have to worry about idiots destroying it :)
[14:15:27] clever: something else ive heard
[14:15:35] clever: you can format a usb in a certain way, so it acts like a cd
[14:15:39] clever: including autoplay
[14:15:51] patdk-wk: heh?
[14:15:55] clever: so a program on the stick will run when you insert it
[14:15:56] patdk-wk: autoplay is an os thing
[14:16:00] clever: yeah
[14:16:04] clever: its a windows 'feature'
[14:16:15] patdk-wk: windows does craploads of things
[14:16:20] clever: makes it easy for you to install a virus just by shoving your stick in for 30 seconds:P
[14:16:22] patdk-wk: if I plug a usb into my computer
[14:16:29] patdk-wk: windows will search it for something to *play*
[14:16:39] clever: yeah, thats the other one
[14:16:47] patdk-wk: even if there is no autoplay.ini file
[14:16:59] clever: but if you do it a certain way and have autorun.inf it will run that program without even asking
[14:17:04] clever: if you left the defaults in
[14:17:12] patdk-wk: at work here I have auto-insert notification turned off via ad policy, so none of the computers do it
[14:17:23] patdk-wk: annoys people when they plug in their camera's
[14:18:05] clever: another neat trick ive seen used
[14:18:14] clever: my 3g modem will claim to be a usb cdrom drive
[14:18:32] clever: so autorun works exactly as it was meant to, on a 'cdrom drive'
[14:18:36] patdk-wk: ya, mine does that
[14:18:40] clever: it then installed its own drivers
[14:18:46] patdk-wk: and the 3d modem won't work till you unmount the drive :(
[14:18:55] clever: under linux, i have to manualy eject the 'cd' to make it reconnect the serial port
[14:19:00] clever: just eject, not umount
[14:19:04] clever: and i used udev to automate that
[14:19:37] clever: KERNEL=="sr?", SUBSYSTEM=="block", ATTR{size}=="2097151", ATTRS{vendor}=="Novatel ", RUN+="/root/stick_insert 3g"

[18:20:22] CyberKnet: anyone see the engadget story about HDHomeRUn developing a dual CableCARD network tuner for $249?
[18:20:42] wagnerrp: big annoying thread on the mailing list about it
[18:20:48] wagnerrp: completely worthless as far as mythtv is concerned
[18:20:51] CyberKnet: that's what I thought probably happened.
[18:20:59] CyberKnet: And that was my assumption as to its usefulness
[18:21:05] CyberKnet: CableLabs didn;'t change their position afaik
[18:21:30] wagnerrp: i like how people are claiming that access to the unflagged (and supposedly unencrypted) content would be a great alternative to firewire and a cable box
[18:21:44] wagnerrp: dont cablecard rentals usually cost as much as cable boxes anyway?
[18:21:50] CyberKnet: yes
[18:22:08] wagnerrp: so youre paying an additional $250 for absolutely no gain?
[18:22:12] CyberKnet: cable box from Cox here in tulsa encrypts the firewire for non-free-to-air channels
[18:22:27] CyberKnet: so if it was supposedly unencrypted, I could see gain for me there. But I REALLY doubt it would be unencrypted for everything
[18:22:45] CyberKnet: that's completely contrary to everything I've heard about concerning equipment that interfaces with CableLabs standards...
[18:23:25] wagnerrp: it used to be that everything recorded from a cablecard tuner was encrypted on the hard drive
[18:23:43] CyberKnet: That's what I had seen too.
[18:23:46] wagnerrp: but apparently now only stuff that is copy flagged (and thus 5c encrypted) gets encrypted on the hard drive
[18:24:11] CyberKnet: Isn't everything 5c these days?
[18:24:29] wagnerrp: 5c only exists on the firewire port on the cablebox
[18:24:56] wagnerrp: the stream itself is just copy flagged, and gets encrypted on the box if the flag is set
[18:25:22] wagnerrp: but theyre talking about the possibility of rev-eng'ing the network protocol on the new box
[18:25:30] wagnerrp: so they can record those unencrypted channels directly
[18:25:30] sid3windr: revenging!
[18:25:31] sid3windr: heh
[18:25:50] wagnerrp: which would effectively give you the same thing you get over firewire right now

[18:26:55] iosonoio: anyone know how can tell to mythtv default grabber to add the option --slow so that it download all the description of the channels for the EPG?
[18:27:09] wagnerrp: use of mythtv implies that you already know how to use your computer
[18:27:18] CyberKnet: wagnerrp: The HDHR would encrypt channels that were copy flagged before sending them over the network – this is what you are saying?
[18:27:35] wagnerrp: CyberKnet: the new one, yes, making those worthless to mythtv
[18:27:41] CyberKnet: wagnerrp: agreed
[18:27:59] amidaniel: wagnerrp: lol
[18:28:22] wagnerrp: Abongile: things to check.... lack of write access to your user directory, invalid shell defined in /etc/passwd

[18:28:47] wagnerrp: that or gnome is just inexplicably crashing
[18:30:16] jams: iosonoio- if it's not in the mythtv-setup grabber area, your best best is to try and write a wrapper for whatever grabber your using. mythtv calls the wrapper, the wapper call the grabber with -slow

[22:16:35] jst: Alright, well I'll ask away... So I'm running MythTV on Windows 7, and I have my screen offset X set to 1920 in order to display MythTV on my second monitor. This keeps Myth on my second screen, so long as I'm not watching a recording. Whenever I watch a recording, it reverts back to my main monitor. I've also tried adjusting the the screen with the Screen Setup Wizard to no avail.
[22:17:11] wagnerrp: apparently you have playback set to use a different resolution/position from the GUI

[22:20:17] Wicked: .exe?
[22:20:27] Wicked: and yes...its in mythfrontend.
[22:20:29] jst: nvidia-settings... Are you talking about Linux?
[22:20:32] Wicked: yes
[22:20:44] Wicked: oh. crap. you said windows 7
[22:20:50] jst: Same thing might work for Windows. Let me mess with it.
[22:20:54] Wicked: kinda over read that part. sorry
[22:21:01] Wicked: yea. its worth a shot.
[22:22:13] jst: Yup, that did it. It always displays on the primary display.
[22:22:46] jst: That doesn't help me any though. :(
[22:22:52] Wicked: ah. well on linux it defaults to screen 0..which is the primary....and i wanted it on the secondary..so i just made it 1
[22:22:57] jst: In Windows, the start menu, task bar, etc. appear on the primary display.
[22:23:18] jst: Hmm, maybe if I can find that option and set it in the frontend.
[22:23:29] Wicked: i have never used mythtv under windows so i really have no idea how it works...and what doesnt work and all that.
[22:23:43] jst: I know what you're talking about... When I was running Ubuntu on this machine, I set that very option.
[22:24:04] Wicked: let me see if i can find it in the options menu for you.
[22:24:04] jst: I think it was under Setup >> Appearance
[22:24:16] jst: (Not seeing it in the Windows version)
[22:24:23] jst: Great, thanks. :)
[22:24:30] Wicked: that sounds right....checking now
[22:27:11] Wicked: bah. my projectors off..let me fire it up...i just looked through the options and it doesnt show up if there is only 1 active monitor.
[22:28:19] jst: Heh

[22:29:46] Wicked: are both monitors on and active?
[22:30:06] jst: Yes.
[22:30:21] Wicked: maby you can throw that option from the cli....maby its just not in the windows frontend settings.
[22:30:31] Wicked: i really have no idea though

[22:33:54] jst: mythfrontend -v help works
[22:34:18] jst: Wait, nevermind.

[22:36:03] Wicked: hmm. also... i know on linux there is a system variable for the x display....maby you can see if windows has something similar..then create a litle bat script that sets the display variable to the secondary monitor...then starts mythfrontend

[22:52:21] wagnerrp: you will only get the information provided by the broadcaster
[22:52:25] metalac: and is there a way to tell the 2nd tunner to use the 1st tunners channels? that way i don't have to scan twice?
[22:52:48] wagnerrp: for broadcast, that will likely include a channel name, which can be used to automatically set an XMLTV ID
[22:52:55] wagnerrp: for cable, youre likely not going to get anything
[22:53:04] wagnerrp: and will have to figure out what the channel sare manually

[23:46:41] TauPan: I just installed mythtv 0.22–0.9 from debian-multimedia (after using svn some months ago). Now that I got everything running again, live tv (and probably video playback) defaults to two half-screens. When I change the interlace mode to "progressive" everything is ok, but I have to do that by hand every time.
[23:47:16] wagnerrp: such things are usually do to driver issues with ATI cards
