its been awhile since Ive used mythtv. Just got an LCD with vga in so I was gonna try it again. My old TV only took composite in and any linux tv app didnt look very good. For some reason windows mce was always decent looking though. Not sure why. Could be ivtv drivers vs windows drivers or could be video card related issues.

I followed the directions on the wiki perfectly and I can see analog television, but playback of live TV and recordings is all sped up by about 1.5x, with high pitched audio and video thats faster than live tv (so that it skips and stops)
