[00:34:00] ChanServ sets mode +v MythLogBot
[00:34:00] sphery: http://svn.mythtv.org/
[00:34:00] Tanthrix: So svn co http://svn.mythtv.org/svn/trunk/mythtv then?
[00:34:00] sphery: Yeah. And same for mythtv-plugins and mythtv-themes
[00:34:00] Tanthrix: Righto.
[00:34:00] sphery: Since you're compiling, anyway, might as well.
[00:35:00] simon_c: Humm. I think my problem is the channels aren't setup correctly. Hummm
[00:35:00] sphery: I compiled a new version Friday, and IIRC, only 2 commits have gone in since and one of them was a patch I sent in (and, therefore, have already applied to my version).
[00:35:00] sphery: So, it seems pretty stable right now.
[00:35:00] fatmatt: Beirdo: can you tell me where nuvexport expects to find mplayer?
[00:36:00] sphery: Just as long as you're not a DVB user... (and you're not)  :)
[00:36:00] Beirdo: not off hand
[00:37:00] Krazylegz: The bot is back!
[00:37:00] ** Krazylegz does a little dance **
[00:37:00] sphery: Yeah. Some tattletale mentioned it to Beirdo...
[00:37:00] sphery: Since it wasn't logged, though, we'll never know who it was.
[00:37:00] sphery: :)
[00:37:00] Beirdo: stupid bot
[00:38:00] Tanthrix: Hrm. Is svm the same as svn?
[00:39:00] sphery: No....
[00:39:00] sphery: Where's svm?
[00:39:00] Flik (n=Flik@d205-250-145-88.bchsia.telus.net) Quit ("Leaving")
[00:39:00] Tanthrix: "urpmi svn" installed libsvn, quite a few other things, and svm
[00:39:00] Tanthrix: But no svn commant
[00:40:00] Tanthrix: Svm is for svn mirroring it seems.
[00:40:00] sphery: SVM: Support Vector Machine
[00:40:00] sphery: :)
[00:40:00] Tanthrix: Mandrake fails me once again.
[00:40:00] Tanthrix: DESCRIPTION
[00:40:00] Tanthrix: svm mirrors remote repository accissible via SVN::Ra interface to a local
[00:40:00] Tanthrix: repository.
[00:40:00] sphery: you sure there's no svn command?
[00:41:00] fatmatt: Beirdo: I've got mplayer and ffmpeg in /usr/bin but all the nuvexport stuff is in /usr/local/bin would that be an issue?
[00:42:00] sphery: maybe there's an "svn-cli" package or something for the "SVN Command Line Interface"
[00:42:00] Tanthrix: sphery: Aye. locate svn only shows up libsvn stuff
[00:43:00] Tanthrix: Urpmi again shows rapidsvn, libsvn stuff, cvs2svn, python-svn stuff
[00:43:00] Beirdo: not sure right now, sorry.
[00:43:00] Beirdo: I need a nap
[00:44:00] Krazylegz: Having a good vacation?
[00:44:00] Beirdo: had.
[00:44:00] Beirdo: I'm home
[00:44:00] Krazylegz: Oh. Bollocks.
[00:45:00] Krazylegz: Well, WAS it a good vacation?
[00:45:00] fatmatt: Beirdo: no probs, I'll butcher the script a bit, see if I can make things worse
[00:46:00] Beirdo: yeah, it was an excellent vacation

[00:56:00] ** Tanthrix slaps Tanthrix around a bit with a large trout **
[00:58:00] syle: how do you get mixer device to work? don;t you just set mixer to your alsa:default to?
[01:00:00] Agrajag-: just default
[01:00:00] sphery: syle: If you have "ALSA:default" specified for the audio output device, you should specify "default" for the mixer device (although "ALSA:default" will work, too--at least in SVN).
[01:00:00] sphery: If you have /dev/dsp specified, use /dev/mixer (both of those may contain numbers, like /dev/dsp0)
[01:01:00] otwin (n=Use@217.31.78.25) has left #mythtv-users
[01:01:00] sphery: Tanthrix: glad you found it.  :)
[01:01:00] syle: i'm putting volume up and down
[01:01:00] syle: does nothing
[01:04:00] syle: Current versions of MythTV (I'm using 0.18.1 right now) allow you to specify a mixer device in the audio settings. While changing the output device from "/dev/dsp" to "ALSA:default" is well documented in this howto and in the official documentation, neither of them mention the necessary changes to the mixer device: If you're using ALSA, change the mixer device from "/dev/mixer" to "default".
[01:04:00] simon_c: I'm having real problems getting my channel frequencies setup correctly. Can anone give me a hand. I'm in the UK tyring to setup the terestrial analogue broadcast channels.
[01:04:00] syle: so maybe i don;t use ALSA , i;ll try that
[01:04:00] simon_c: or point me at the right docs.
[01:15:00] fatmatt: Beirdo: this guys patch seems to get past those errors, though I'm using transcode instead of ffmpeg so I don't get errors https://svn.forevermore.net/nuvexport/ticket/44
[01:16:00] fatmatt: and transcode doesn't seem to like the crop broadcast overscan option
[01:17:00] nuongu1: fatmatt, sphery, beirdo, are you guys the mythtv developers?
[01:17:00] ** fatmatt is not anything like that **
[01:17:00] fatmatt: I can't write code, Chutt is the dev
[01:18:00] nuongu1: Well, I can't figure out how to fix the tv-audio mute on channel change issue...
[01:18:00] nuongu1: So... I might just reboot, kill some newbs in halo, befoer I get back to my mythtv issues...
[01:19:00] fatmatt: nuongu1: have you tried changing the "myth controls volume" option?
[01:19:00] Krazylegz (n=Krazyleg@pcp0010326949pcs.coatsv01.pa.comcast.net) Quit ()
[01:19:00] nuongu1: yup
[01:20:00] fatmatt: if you can work out a way to get the volume running again, you can add a channel change script that'll run each time you change channels I think.
[01:20:00] fatmatt: Though, thats the long way around
[01:21:00] nuongu1: But if I do that, then the script will also be responsible for changing channels too, right?
[01:21:00] fatmatt: not sure
[01:26:00] nuongu1: So, I turn on audio by firing up aumix, and selecting Line2 as record and then Video as record
[01:27:00] nuongu1: See, I don't know what the deal is, but aumix -I -d /dev/mixer1 shows three record options: Line 1, Line 2, Video
[01:27:00] hex01A4 (n=hex@h-68-167-251-21.sttnwaho.dynamic.covad.net) has joined #mythtv-users
[01:27:00] nuongu1: And they're radio buttons, so only one can be selected
[01:27:00] fatmatt: what happens when you change chanels?
[01:27:00] hex01A4: im having a problem configuring my mythtv database
[01:27:00] hex01A4: can someone help
[01:27:00] nuongu1: So I select Line 1 or 2, and then Video to hear the audio again
[01:28:00] nuongu1: The audio disappears when I change channels
[01:28:00] nuongu1: hex01A4, what's the prob?
[01:28:00] fatmatt: it changes back to the defaults?
[01:28:00] hex01A4: i selected language EN
[01:28:00] nuongu1: sphery and fatmatt seem to be most knowledgable herer
[01:28:00] hex01A4: and it says it could not connect to the database
[01:28:00] hex01A4: and to configure some stuff
[01:28:00] nuongu1: I don't see a change in the selection
[01:29:00] fatmatt: we're in trouble if you think I know what I'm doing..
[01:29:00] hex01A4: huh?
[01:29:00] nuongu1: hex01A4: you'll have to be more specific...
[01:29:00] hex01A4: thats the problem
[01:29:00] hex01A4: i dont know how to configure that database
[01:30:00] nuongu1: You've run mythtv-setup?
[01:30:00] nuongu1: And then you run mythfilldatabase?
[01:30:00] fatmatt: nuongu1: have you tried the alsactl store command to store the settings you want?
[01:31:00] nuongu1: no
[01:31:00] dougl: what is the menu toggle key in myth gallery?
[01:31:00] hex01A4: you guys got a place where i can paste the results of mythfilldatabase
[01:31:00] nuongu1: aumix has a 'save' option – not the same thing?

[01:32:00] nuongu1: hex01A4, did you go through the setup completely? To me it looks like you either did not do the necessary database setup or that you got error messages when you did it...
[01:33:00] fatmatt: hex01A4: is mysql running?
[01:33:00] hex01A4: how do i check

[01:40:00] hex01A4: and sudo apt-get install mysql-client-4.1
[01:41:00] nuongu1: I don't know why you need both mysql-client and mysql-client-4.1 — but whatever — is there a server component to that?
[01:41:00] hex01A4: im just trying to run this as a frontend and backend
[01:41:00] hex01A4: i just want to play around with it
[01:41:00] nuongu1: sure
[01:41:00] hex01A4: huh?
[01:42:00] nuongu1: You still have to install a complete mysql package

[02:24:00] jnc: sphery: correct

[02:27:00] Tanthrix: I just ran the .run installer straight off of nvidia's website
[02:27:00] sphery: mouser25: That would definitely be odd if it just worked... Or did I misinterpret your question?
[02:27:00] Tanthrix: it's not too hard mouser if you read the guides I showed you
[02:27:00] jnc: sphery: what'ya think?
[02:27:00] sphery: jnc: It sounds like you have the wrong tuner type specified.
[02:27:00] jnc: sphery: i've tried them all. literally.
[02:27:00] mouser25: sphery: it almost works it is in b&w
[02:28:00] jnc: looped through and rmmod bttv / modprobe tuner=$i

[02:29:00] Tanthrix: that's all I have
[02:29:00] jnc: the closest i get is that the channels tune off-by-one
[02:30:00] sphery: jnc: the other possibility is that you're using the wrong frequency table. I.e. you're using "us-cable" but your cable company sends using "us-cable-hrc" (or, they use "us-cable-irc"--which isn't really available except by patching)... Note that channels 5 & 6 are special on HRC/IRC, so...
[02:30:00] mouser25: sphery: well I have no network connection knoppmyth has no 3com driver
[02:30:00] jnc: sphery: oooooh.
[02:31:00] jnc: sphery: but on a regular tv, i mean....
[02:31:00] jnc: it works
[02:31:00] jnc: why would a tuner card have trouble?
[02:32:00] sphery: Tanthrix: Did you install with "--no-opengl-headers" option (or specify it during the interactive install)? That sounds like what may have happened... Enough so, that I would say reinstall the NVIDIA drivers and be sure you don't say no to the headers.

[02:37:00] sphery: jnc: Right. Many different revs of each tuner card, so there's almost unlimited combinations to test (especially when you consider that some cable companies use slightly modified versions of the freq tables--meaning you may have to "finetune" some channels). [04:08:00] Ryushin: It seems that if you have a nvidia card, and you are using xvmc, and you turn de-interlace on, it will always run BOB as the filter as that's what is implimented in hardware. Because of this, and because of the BOB filter, you have to get your refresh rate perfect otherwise it's going to BOB up and down 1 line. If the refresh rate is perfectly set at 59.94Hz, it should be perfect.

[11:30:00] chacon: d

[11:33:00] chacon: do you know the reason why?
[11:34:00] chacon: is this the whole ...part of why mplayer also must play thru the sound card?
[11:36:00] laga: the pvr-350 only takes mpeg2. if you feed it mpeg4, it has to be converted somewhere – obviously by mythtv. seems that it doesn't convert the audio stream [correctly]

[11:37:00] chacon: but video plays fine?

[11:47:00] chacon: mplayer behaves the same way..
[11:47:00] chacon: i wonder if it has something to do with mplayer/memcoder somethgin along those lines
[11:48:00] laga: you can use mplayer to convert the files oin the files, at least the video. the man page wil ltell you if such a thing is possible for audio
[11:48:00] laga: or if it's possible to use the line-out

Personally, I piped the 350's audio outputs back into the line in port on my sound card, and then the sound card feeds my speakers, because system, MythMusic and mplayer audio (currently) can only be output through a sound card (but work is underway to chan
[11:53:00] chacon: ge that).

[20:53:00] T`: travolta, i noticed i have to do a ivtvctl --reset-ir before loading the IR module.. or else its not able to find it
[20:53:00] difeta: simcop2387, i'm not sure about the hardware encoder, but there is a cable that runs frm the card to my soundcard. Its a connector that is internal to the box.
[20:54:00] T`: travolta, irrecord not working :(
[20:54:00] T`: travolta, can i somehow check if the reciever/transmitter work?
[20:54:00] T`: travolta, or may the remote itself is damaged?
[20:54:00] simcop2387: difeta: then it probably doesn't have a hardware encoder, and unless you really want pvr features, tvtime will work better for you, as for sound check the recording mixer levels on your sound card and make sure the correct input is selected
[20:55:00] gratz|home: i keep getting the error libmyth-0.18.so.0 cannot be opened when i run ./mythtv-setup, but the file exists

[21:02:00] gratz|home: i did svn co (latest_myth) then went to dir and did 'make' then ./mythtv-setup
[21:03:00] GreyFoxx: you still need to do a make install to actually install the app and libraries. all you have done is compile them
[21:03:00] difeta: sphing, it conenctes to the a line in slot nextto where the cdrom's digital line cable plugs into.

[21:06:00] difeta: simcop2387, yep, and the cable is clear

[21:07:00] difeta: sphing, i'm getting picture with static and no sound
[21:07:00] simcop2387: difeta: could be a tuner/norm issue then
[21:07:00] difeta: simcop2387, whats that mean?
[21:07:00] simcop2387: difeta: norm is the tv standard, pal/ntsc/secam/etc.
[21:08:00] simcop2387: difeta: the tuner issue could be that the tuner module doesn't automatically detect your tuner type correctly i don't remember how to properly diagnose/test/fix that issue
[21:08:00] difeta: simcop2387, nope, we are ntsc here. Whats interesting is the picture is clear on my suse box.

I changed xorg.conf from TVOutFormat "SVIDEO" to "COMPOSITE", but that doesn't appear to be the only thing I need to change. any suggestions?

[22:30:00] GreyFoxx: DarkBeer: So your video card has an rca and a svideo output right ?
[22:30:00] DarkBeer: no, video card has vga and svideo
[22:30:00] GreyFoxx: well from what you just said you were trying to getting rca out, so it seemed like a good question :)
[22:31:00] GreyFoxx: You have and Svideo <-> RCA Adapter connected then ?
[22:31:00] DarkBeer: sorry. i have a cable that connects to the vga port and gives options for svideo or rca, and then it has a seperate s-video out.

[22:34:00] jnc: where are the keybindings documented
[22:34:00] jnc: i couldn't find it
[22:34:00] GreyFoxx: Is there something in the water these days? Seems all of the sudden everyone is messing with them :)
[22:35:00] [Klatuu]: there needs to be a Myth Main Menu binding
[22:35:00] [Klatuu]: that always takes you to the main screen
[22:35:00] GreyFoxx: that makes sense
[22:35:00] [Klatuu]: TiVo has it
[22:36:00] GreyFoxx: I'm suprised there isn't one
[22:36:00] [Klatuu]: another thing is that when I am in Mplayer...I can't jump to another function
[22:37:00] [Klatuu]: it is like mplayer has the remote focus
[22:37:00] GreyFoxx: it does
[22:37:00] [Klatuu]: http://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-11.html
[22:38:00] [Klatuu]: I thinik it is a limitation of lirc
[22:38:00] ** jnc prints **
[22:38:00] GreyFoxx: there is someway of configuring lirc so that both apps get the keystroke, but I don't see that as what anyone would want to do
[22:39:00] GreyFoxx: You could use the internal player and not bother with nmplayer at all ? :)
[22:39:00] [Klatuu]: the funny thing is you need a mplayer config in your lircrc for you to be able to use your remote while watchihng a recording in myth
[22:39:00] [Klatuu]: I didn't know there was an internal player for divix or xvid
[22:40:00] GreyFoxx: yup. The same internal player that plays back recordings can play anyformat that ffmpeg/libavcodec et all can handle
[22:40:00] GreyFoxx: and you keep consistant menus, OSD and keys
[22:41:00] ** [Klatuu] goes to look **
[22:41:00] GreyFoxx: To try it out just change your player in mythvideo to "Internal"
[22:43:00] [Klatuu]: so replace the mplayer command line with "Internal"
[22:43:00] [Klatuu]: ?
[22:43:00] GreyFoxx: minus the quotes yeah
[22:45:00] [Klatuu]: hrmm
[22:45:00] [Klatuu]: that worked
[22:45:00] [Klatuu]: the OSD is fugly
[22:45:00] [Klatuu]: FF & REW are quirky too
[22:45:00] GreyFoxx: It's the same OSD as regular myth. Cept it might be stretched to match the Aspect ratio of the video
[22:45:00] [Klatuu]: the box isn;t containing the text
[22:46:00] GreyFoxx: Can't say I've seen that problem :)
[22:46:00] ** jnc grumbles **

[22:46:00] jnc: okay next up, get TVOut to work

[22:46:00] jnc: debian unstable
[22:46:00] jnc: fglrx module is module-assistant'd and installed
[22:47:00] jnc: it *works* but the Xv shows up on the CRT and not the TVout
[22:47:00] jnc: have you heard of anyone with success on mythtv+fglrx combo?
[22:47:00] GreyFoxx: I've seen several people say they've used it. but they are a minority compareds to the nvidia crowd
[22:48:00] jnc: i should like to find out what configuration those people used
[22:48:00] [Klatuu]: how do you change the OSD
[22:48:00] [Klatuu]: I forget
[22:50:00] GreyFoxx: [Klatuu]: I think it's under Playback in the frontend setup menus
[22:50:00] SqWaw: What do I pick for card type, in the myth setup?
[22:50:00] [Klatuu]: I figured it out
[22:50:00] [Klatuu]: thanks

[22:51:00] SqWaw: okay, thanks
[22:51:00] [Klatuu]: there is a howto for that card
[22:51:00] [Klatuu]: I don't have ithe link handy though
[22:52:00] jnc: Krazylegz: you do?
[22:52:00] jnc: Krazylegz: i have it set to clone mode with TVOut as a 2nd head; the Live TV only shows up on the CRT thought
[22:53:00] jnc: though, even. how do i make that work for the TV Out, any suggestions / tips ?
[22:53:00] GreyFoxx: jnc: change it to have the CRT as the 2nd head ?
[22:53:00] GreyFoxx: maybe xv overlays only work on the first head ?
[22:53:00] jnc: GreyFoxx: it didn't seem to like that, i thought that's what i had
[22:53:00] GreyFoxx: ahhh
[22:54:00] jnc: my options when going through the ati xorg config file generator are primary head can be any number of things (lcd panel, crt) with secondary (lcd panel, crt, tvout)
[22:54:00] jnc: but if the primary is tvout, the secondary can only be "automatic" whatever the hell that means
[22:55:00] jnc: it looks great, rather than go and remove the card and fiddle around with voodoo3 bt869 kernel patches i'd rather find out what the magic config option is to make fglrx work
[22:55:00] jnc: Krazylegz: what's your setup like?

[22:56:00] MrSpiffy: hey folks – question
[22:56:00] [Klatuu]: hrmm
[22:56:00] [Klatuu]: FreeSans is a better font
[22:57:00] MrSpiffy: power off button – my bios turns the machine on with ctl-f1 can I set myth to use that keystroke to exit/poweroff ?
[22:58:00] SqWaw: erm... is mythfilldatabase just supposed to keep running? Like it does stuff, then connects to zap2it again and does it all over again
[22:58:00] jnc: MrSpiffy: you could probably map out that keycombo with xmodmap to be something else
[22:59:00] jnc: just a useless suggestion
[22:59:00] GreyFoxx: SqWaw: It connects several times
[22:59:00] MrSpiffy: not so useless
[22:59:00] GreyFoxx: if it's a first time it will do it like 12 times
[22:59:00] GreyFoxx: otherwise it's just 2 or 3
[22:59:00] SqWaw: Ah okay
[22:59:00] SqWaw: i'll eventually get a prompt back?

[23:00:00] jnc: ohhh
[23:00:00] MrSpiffy: there are some options other than ESC in myth – I guess I could set it to one of them and try to map ctl-f1 to it .....
