[15:31:28] jpabq: peterbennett: Thank you for the audio work on Android. Surround sound is the primary reason I still hvae a "full fledged" computer in my living room for mythtv. Not sure when I will have time to install your fixes, but I am looking forward to it.
[15:32:57] peterbennett: jpabq: OK good – if you are able to test other scenarios like multi channel LPCM that would be helpful.
[15:33:36] peterbennett: jpabq: I will commit these to master in a week or so if there are no problems reported.
[15:33:53] jpabq: peterbennett: I think I still have a movie with 7.1 channels ripped in my archive....
[15:35:24] peterbennett: I am wondering whether to move all of the java code from packaging to mythtv repo. I think it belongs there.
[15:38:30] jpabq: I will let you make that decission. I don't know emough about the pros and cons.

[18:06:07] gigem: peterbennett: I finally found how to preserve interlacing when using ffmpeg to transcode to h.265. There's a lot of misinformation out there. I'll have to watch some samples to see how much difference it makes and which I like better.
[20:10:40] peterbennett: gigem: To date I have avoided h265 because it is not supported on Raspberry Pi.

[21:20:16] RokLobsta: peterbennett: h265 works great on vaapi. I am still on 0.28 is vaapi support better in 0.29?
[21:27:43] peterbennett: RokLobsta: There is a new selection in v30 called VAAPI2. The rendering side of it is still being worked on in the render branch but VAAPI2 works with VAAPI based deinterlace. For 4K video you will need to wait for the render part.
[21:28:01] RokLobsta: whups i am on .29 i meant .30
[21:28:22] RokLobsta: i don't have a 4k TV you insensitive clod!
[21:28:53] RokLobsta: though i see they are 'cheap' and plentiful now. I need my current LCD panel to die first.
[21:30:37] RokLobsta: ok i'll revisit the deinterlacig.

[22:06:57] jpabq: Interesting. My local ABC station seems to be broadcasting 1080p30 (29.97 fps). Myth is deciding it must be 1080i and tries to (badly) de-interlace it.
[22:18:08] Panic: jpabq: ATSC is always 1080i, not 1080p
[22:25:09] amessina (amessina!~amessina@unaffiliated/amessina) has quit (Quit: Konversation terminated!)
[22:26:00] jpabq: Panic: reality seems to refute that assertion. My ABC station was 720p59.94 last I checked. I don't know when they switched to 1080p29.97. My NBC, CBS and PBS station are 1080i. My FOX station is still 720p.
[22:27:45] peterbennett: I wonder why myth mis-interprets it. It gets the info on whether it is interlaced from ffmpeg.
[22:28:11] markspieth2 (markspieth2!~yaaic@mythtv/developer/markspieth) has quit (Ping timeout: 244 seconds)
[22:31:13] jpabq: peterbennett: When I first start watching a show, it shows interlaced. If it tell mythfrontend to "detect", then it shows progressive.
[22:34:38] jpabq: I will look into some more when I have some more time.

[22:36:07] peterbennett: jpabq: There is some code in playback that guesses if it is interlaced, but I thought that was corrected before any frames actually were shown.
[22:36:46] peterbennett: jpabq: I have many things that are transcoded to 1080p h264 and never have a problem detecting them as 1080p
