[00:04:53] gigem: Does anyone know how and why a/v subtitles get hidden when playback is paused? They show along with other osd windows during playback so it's not either or window case. I've checked every overt method I can find that might stop/hide the subtitles when pausing but haven't found it yet. I'm left thinking it's a subtle, possibly unintended, side-effect of the way MythPlayer works. markk_: Any ideas?
[00:05:19] gigem: peterbennett: I'll try to build tonight but it might be tomorrow before I can really test.

[00:18:58] dragonian: i built with new ffmpeg
[00:19:49] dragonian: discovered that the old video profile i had masked hevc, so it was using ffmpeg, and not vdpau.
[00:21:20] dragonian: ffmpeg decode works fine with 1080p hevc on new build <- not too suprising
[00:22:23] dragonian: discovered that i was still running nvidia 390 drivers. neither vdpau nor nvdec work with 390.
[00:22:56] dragonian: i'm upgrading to 396 now. will report back

[00:39:18] dragonian: i noted some tearing on 1080p-hevc, but that could be new nvidia driver related
[00:40:19] dragonian: i could try the 410 nvidia drivers
[00:41:45] dragonian: w/ vdpau.. since phorix seem to indicate that those drivers are required for vdpau to work

[02:31:06] gigem: peterbennett: Have you built with ffmpeg 4.1 on android yet? The build fails for me in libavformat. See https://pastebin.com/h5SXK5VG. What ndk are you using?
[02:33:34] hampton: Fails for me with r15c.
[02:41:10] peterbennett: gigem: I have not built android with ffmpeg 4.1 yet.
[02:47:52] peterbennett: gigem: I see the problem. I will look into it.
[03:11:39] gigem: peterbennett: We need to tighten the configure check for ip_mreq_source support (Android's is apparently pathetic) or #ifdef out the 1 chunk of code the depends on HAVE_STRUCT_IP_MREQ_SOURCE. I did the latter and it's building again.
[03:12:12] gigem: I mean it got past the problem area and is still building the rest of the code.
[03:24:02] gigem: peterbennett: Built, installed and run. I'm going to go watch some TV, I mean, do some more extensive testing. :)
[03:30:41] peterbennett: gigem: OK perhaps there is something we can disable in the config.
[04:21:43] gigem: peterbennett: It looks like the closest granularity is CONFIG_UDP_PROTOCOL and CONFIG_UDPLITE_PROTOCOL. I don't know if we need those or not. Anyway, my testing is good so far.

This happens with vaapi2 decoding on Linux and opengl and ffmpeg decoding on Linux and Android. All use opengl for output so perhaps that's it. I haven't tried mediacodec decoding but it currently uses opengl for output so i likely affected
[15:23:24] gigem: too. Regarding your vdpau test, that with a/v subtitles (from a separate track in the .ts/.ps file) and not closed captions (muxed into the video track), right? Closed captions display fine for me while paused. It's only subtitles that get hidden.

[16:36:15] peterbennett: gigem: Pause loops around redisplaying the pause frame over and over 30 times per second, which seems an inefficient thing to do. I actually suppressed that in raspberry pi. Changing that may fix your pause subtitle problem.
[16:50:05] markk_: peterbennett: why not stop it everywhere?
[16:59:54] peterbennett: markk_: One reason for not stopping it everywhere is that if you move or open another window over the paused playback the paused frame does not get redrawn, resulting in a messed up display – that does not happen with openmax.
