[15:09:11] peterbennett: stuarta: Some bug reports around mythweb when using it for creating or updating schedules. My suggestion is to disable creating of recording schedules through mythweb. Still allow mythweb for viewing listings and upcoming recordings.
[15:11:00] ** kwizart only uses mythweb for creating schedule... what else (using web interface ?) **
[15:22:59] peterbennett: kwizart: There seem to be bugs in mythweb when creating schedules. A long time ago I was bitten when I set things up there and it did not work so I ondy use the frontend for setting up schedules.
[15:23:16] peterbennett: I forget the details of the bugs I found.
[15:23:33] peterbennett: But there have been a few logged recently.
[15:25:19] peterbennett: I remember there was a problem with changing existing schedules.

[15:42:07] markk_: someone needs to finish off the whole websocket piece – and have the backend serve up its own web interface. Then mythweb can be consigned to history.
[15:45:43] gigem: peterbennett: Were you referring to #13384? stuartm added a hack a long time ago to show a program as recording/will record if it's the same program but on a "different" channel. I suspect mythweb doesn't have that hack. Personally, I think it's misleading as it doesn't accurately show what the scheduler is doing/will do.
[15:46:39] gigem: markk_: Agreed. stuartm: Are you still busy with your job or have you lost interest?
[15:48:01] stuarta: peterbennett: the main use case is to create schedules
[15:48:38] stuarta: markk_: gigem agreed. the entire of the setup piece needs to be done from within the backend web server
[15:48:50] stuarta: project_todo_list++
[15:52:51] stuarta: peterbennett: fyi, i'm running through a new setup of the rpi on a fresh sd card
[15:55:21] tgm4883: Does mythtv still need external packages to be installed to build with hdhomerun support? looking at configure it doesn't seem so
[15:55:32] tgm4883: it appears it's all shipped with mythtv now
[15:56:08] stuarta: tgm4883: hampton can comment exactly, but hdhomerun i definitely remember as using the shipped libs now
[15:56:14] tgm4883: ok
[15:56:25] tgm4883: not sure why it's not building with that support then on the PPA
[15:56:30] stuarta: tgm4883: btw, do the resulting packages now show the branch in the version string?
[15:56:39] tgm4883: I'm forcing a build now since they were broken for a bit
[15:56:45] ** tgm4883 shrugs **
[15:57:11] tgm4883: I had completely forgotten about that, so unless you changed something upstream it's the same
[15:57:52] stuarta: i pushed a packaging change that i hoped would work, but i don't think it did
[15:58:32] tgm4883: I have no way to test
[15:59:15] tgm4883: actually I suppose I could install the frontend and test it, I can do that if it builds successfully
[16:08:48] peterbennett: gigem: I was not aware of #13384. #13384 – Reading it seems to say that it is a bug in builtin web server but the bug says mythweb incorrect and bug is assigned to mythweb, so I don't understand the bug

[16:08:48] ** MythLogBot https://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/13384 **
[16:09:26] peterbennett: gigem: I am specifically referring to mythweb, and not the internal web server.
[16:10:41] peterbennett: stuarta: I got a reply from raspberry pi audio driver developer about the poor analog audio in recent versions of raspbian.
[16:11:11] peterbennett: It seems the new analog audio driver is advnesely affrected by the hardware deinterlace (weird)
[16:11:24] peterbennett: *adversely
[16:14:15] Warped (Warped!~Warped@unaffiliated/warped) has joined #mythtv
[16:26:03] gigem: peterbennett: I believe the issue with #13384 is he doesn't like that mythweb doesn't show the same status as the internal server. It doesn't because mythweb doesn't have the hack I described.
[16:26:03] ** MythLogBot https://code.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/13384 **
[16:33:11] tgm4883: weird, still building without HDHOMERUN support it seems. Can someone take a look https://launchpadlibrarian.net/408241707/buil . . . LDING.txt.gz
[16:42:40] gigem: tgm4883: That log doesn't help. Is libhdhomerun-dev installed?
[16:43:14] tgm4883: gigem: I thought we concluded that wasn't necessary?
[16:43:18] tgm4883: stuarta> tgm4883: hampton can comment exactly, but hdhomerun i definitely remember as using the shipped libs now

[18:17:47] markk_: so tonight's brainteaser – if we have a 10bit video, it must have a 10bit colorspace. [19:39:27] hampton: Does anyone remember the fix to prevent myth from running out of file descriptors? At least a year ago.
[19:47:53] Steve-Goodey: I seem to remember stuart a moaning about that.
[19:51:21] hampton: I tripped over it a number of times back in the day. :-( Today I tripped over a trac ticket that referencing the problem. I was just looking for a better time frame or a commit id to reference when closing the ticket.
[19:53:06] peterbennett: hampton: ulimit -n for file descriptors ?
[19:56:34] hampton: IIRC, the problem was that file descriptors were queued to be closed, but then nothing ever triggered a run through the queue.

[23:41:51] gary_buhrmaster: mark_: As I understand it (from someone who understands color space, and I am not the one), you cannot just truncate bits. Well, you can, but the result is a poor looking picture because of the difference in colorspace.
[23:43:11] gary_buhrmaster: mark_: Instead you have to do tone mapping to transform the higher dynamic range to a lower dynamic range.
[23:44:01] gary_buhrmaster: mark_: I was also told ffmpeg can support such tone mappings filters.
[23:47:22] gary_buhrmaster: mark_: I would expect (but have not actually checked) that some newer GPUs can do that mapping in hardware (because they are going to have to deal with the mix of inputs/outputs for a long time).
