[01:34:09] jpabq: hampton: thanks. I like being able to verify that mythbackend is doing the right thing when I make configuration changes.
[03:15:35] gigem: dizygotheca: I'm mainly interested in separating the concepts of bookmarks and last played position. I'm also very interested in automatically and regularly updating the last played position every 1 to 60 or so seconds. I've had the displeasure more than a few times of dealing with suddenly flaky frontends. To keep from losing my place at the next lock up, I would frequently press the save bookmark key.
[03:15:37] gigem: IOW, I want the frontend to save the last played position even when there's a lock up, power outage or whatever.

[09:09:32] stuarta: morning all
[09:11:54] stuarta: sigh, trac keeps breaking on the github webhooks on a regular basis
[09:14:59] stuarta: on the other hand, after stopping the ubuntu builds from trying to apply a mysql57 support patch, master has successfully built across 4 different ubuntu versions
[09:22:24] SteveGoodey (SteveGoodey!~steve@host86-151-53-216.range86-151.btcentralplus.com) has quit (Quit: Konversation terminated!)

[09:32:16] stuarta: enyc: that's what i did
[09:32:26] stuarta: got a better idea of what is going on now at least
[09:33:17] stuarta: the auto changelog generate is dumping this nonsense in "2:29.1+fixes.20181227.979fc68001-Version:" as the version string. not surprised it doesn't like it
[09:35:20] enyc: aha
[09:35:24] enyc: that doesn't help! =)

[09:46:28] stuarta: odd we now have a unit test failure, but only on ubuntu-18_10
[09:46:45] stuarta: sorry 18.04
[10:07:29] stuarta: didn't happen when i ran the tests on the same buildslave outside of the buildbot
[10:07:33] stuarta: so restarted it
[10:07:35] ** stuarta shrugs **
[10:10:29] stuarta: enyc: so it's coming from it trying to automatically populate DEBIAN_SUFFIX, explicitly setting that env variable lets the build start
[10:22:36] frobnic: hey, stuarta: with the end of the year coming nearer, i have to break my silence and thank you for your great work :)

[10:48:06] stuarta: nothing to commit yet, hoping to see your manpage building error
[10:48:33] enyc: stuarta: =)
[10:48:47] enyc: that wsasomethingabout version too, i suspect they may be related
[10:49:43] stuarta: curious
[10:50:20] stuarta: damn, need to get the buildbot9 config to consolidate builds. mark pushed 3 changes in one go, and it's triggered 3 builds
[10:50:48] enyc: =)
[10:51:16] enyc: I wonder, if its possible to setup some system to just create deb/ubuntu sourcpe pkges
[10:51:30] enyc: then use pre-existing pbuilder and otherwise related systems
[10:51:40] enyc: but i don't know a lot about the area
[10:51:56] stuarta: well the ubuntu ones are being built by launchpad, and auto build if we push changes
[10:52:05] stuarta: (well daily, iirc)
[10:55:35] stuarta: ie. we have nothing to do with the packaging for ubuntu other than bits are kept in our repos
[11:00:08] ** stuarta finds config option required **
[11:17:11] stuarta: enyc: this what you see "help2man: can't get `--help' info from debian/tmp/usr/bin/mythffplay" ??
[11:18:46] stuarta: doesn't appear to be fatal tho
[11:22:06] stuarta: enyc: built successfully
[11:22:17] stuarta: used `DEBIAN_SUFFIX=1234 ./build-debs.sh fixes/29`
[11:22:51] stuarta: the suffix was completely arbitrary for the purposes of the test build
[11:24:18] enyc: stuarta: previous error was different, Option version-string requires an argument ...
[11:24:41] enyc: but anyway... intereting debian magic
[11:24:49] enyc: does raise question, does mythffplay have a --help ?

[15:43:14] gary_buhrmaster: stuarta: FWIW, my recollection (very hazy recollection, it has been a really really long time since I did a BB setup) is you want both a treeStableTimer and a collapseRequests for your BB config to combine commits for a build.
[15:43:47] stuarta: gary_buhrmaster: already added collapseRequests global which should take precedence
[15:44:18] stuarta: and it appears to be doing the trick, as the current builds have multiple changes against them
[15:46:17] gary_buhrmaster: Ah, late to the party, as usual.
[15:48:01] stuarta: i'm hoping to move to the new master soon
[15:48:19] stuarta: not been able to get to the bottom of forcing builds not working :(
[15:48:35] stuarta: i shall probably skip that in favour of being on a newer version
[15:53:08] gary_buhrmaster: I, for one, welcome our new buildbot overlord (most specifically because then I can drop my local install of the legacy worker version that I have been carrying, which I know is going to bite me at some future point).
[15:53:32] stuarta: yeah, i'm pretty sick of the old one
[15:58:53] hampton: stuarta: The coverity problem appears to be lack of understanding for gcc8. I have it running on my f27 builder (gcc7) and it appears to be working better.
[15:58:58] ** hampton crosses his fingers. **
[16:01:33] gary_buhrmaster: I suppose you can just give the devs web authorization to do the forcing of builds as the interim step, that would cover the 98% (very few builder runners who are not devs force builds).

[22:23:06] dizygotheca: peterbennett: It was implemented, but the menu was 'disabled' for some reason.
[22:26:18] peterbennett: dizygotheca: I was talking about automatically saving position during playback so in case of a crash it recovers where it was at. That would be a nice feature.
[22:28:14] jpabq: peterbennett: yes, that used to be in there, but it was removed due to side effects. I believe dizygotheca has a "fixed" version of it?
[22:29:35] dizygotheca: So 11713 is the right ticket but with a wide remit.

[22:39:42] hampton: dizygotheca: Would be great if you could get rid of the last uses of mythdialog. That and a few FFmpeg warnings are all that are left in the code.
[22:40:58] jpabq: hampton: thank you for fixing the logging.
[22:41:26] hampton: yw. Is it working for you now?
[22:41:48] jpabq: Yes, working as expected.
[22:45:45] hampton: New coverity analysis available...
[23:00:18] stuarta: dammit, my nvme drive has offlined itself again
[23:00:23] stuarta: now i need to reboot
[23:18:26] jpabq: I think we should remove "Watch TV" from the main menu. It NEVER works for me. If I want to watch "Live" TV, I choose that option from the program guide.
[23:27:40] Tobbe5178 (Tobbe5178!~asdf@2001:2002:51eb:d24e:c116:9847:bc77:66e4) has quit (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
[23:39:00] gigem: dizygotheca: Thanks for (eventually) unwrapping the onion a little more. I will endeavor to get to some time after the new year.
[23:39:47] peterbennett: jpabq: Watch LiveTV never works? I prefer not to use it because it brings you to the last channel watched, which is not normally what I want, but I am sure it always works. Perhaps you have bogus channels in your setup?
[23:41:36] jpabq: peterbennett: yes, bogus. I change around things in configuration enough (while testing stuff) that it always tries to go to an input not supported by the channel, or a channel which doesn't exist anymore, or something. If I click [Watch Recording] from the main menu, it just immediatly returns to the menu. Choosing [Watch This Channel] from the program guide always works.
[23:43:16] peterbennett: jpabq: Yes the handling of invalid channels in Watch TV is sub-optimal.
[23:45:20] warpme_: peterbennett: I share Your preference for last TV channel (I mean mode where LiveTV always starts with given channel). Pls looks for https://github.com/warpme/minimyth2/blob/mast . . . v-chan.patch
[23:48:57] warpme_: this is hack allowing livetv to start always with the same channel. No gui to set channel nor select mode (last watched or always prefered). I think it is worth to add such setting in gui....
