[00:12:22] tgm4883: is mythhdhomerun_config no longer a thing?
[00:17:13] tgm4883: ah, not building support for it in 30. Anyone know what packages are needed for htis?
[00:28:57] tgm4883: libhdhomerun-dev it is

[01:28:46] jpabq: gigem: I tried setting up a Shield mythfrontend for my mom. I was hoping to use it over WiFi but it is not usabe like that. I guess her old Airport Extreme (non 802.11ac) is not fast enough.
[01:29:02] jpabq: Anyone have a recommendation for a good power-line ethernet extender?
[01:56:49] gigem: hampton: I see. My bad, then. I thought it was only the hw_model bit that had failed. The load_from_str is pretty important because I really don't want to do full, device discovery every time one is needed. What to do, then? A newer libhdhomerun isn't available in jessie-backports. The one in stretchshould be good. I propose we drop support for hdhomerun on jessie. If that's not acceptable, I can look
[01:56:51] gigem: at less desireable (to me) options.
[01:58:31] gigem: jpabq: I've never had good luck with mythfrontend over wifi, period. Simple, streaming applications might work well over wifi but I doubt mythfrontend ever will.
[01:59:10] jpabq: gigem: I did ask you to test that for me once upon a time, and you said it was slow but worked!!!  ;-)
[02:04:22] ElmerFudd (ElmerFudd!~le@jagular.dk) has joined #mythtv
[02:16:34] gigem: jpabq: I'm old and forgetful! :) Now that you mention it, I do vaguely remember testing it for you. What does speedtest report? Perhaps, you've got more/thicker walls to go through.
[02:17:19] jpabq: I think it is just the fact that her Airport is so old it doesn't even have 802.11ac — and is 40' away, through walls.
[02:23:18] gigem: All I have is 802.11n and my ap is about 30' away.
[02:24:39] jpabq: Trying to watch either mpeg2 or h254 was very choppy. It also took a LONG time for mythfrontend to start. I have ordered a powerline adapter which will hopefully solve the issue.
[02:29:57] gigem: Good luck. FWIW, I've heard the newer, powerline are pretty good. When/if I move my main frontend, I might get one myself. The alternative would be to run another ethernet cable around the outside of the house.
[02:30:33] jpabq: Her house is almost 40 years old. That is my biggest concern.

[05:29:37] hampton: gigem: I have no problem dropping support for jessie (or hdhomerun support for jessie), given that stretch was released over a year ago and is considered the production release. Fortunately, as stuartm mentioned, stretch is also the current release for raspbian.
[05:31:07] hampton: Hmm, Jessie is considered LTS until June 30, 2020, so maybe we should just drop hdhomerun support and not all support for jessie.
[05:32:59] hampton: This would also apply to any other distro which doesn't have the necessary libhdhomerun version, which I think is only ubuntu 14.04. That distro release also has issues with too old of a Qt for another recent feature that was added to MythTV.
[05:41:39] hampton: BTW, it should be easy enough to fix configure to check for recent enough libhdhomerun. I think the same version that added the load_from_str function also switched from find_devices to find_devices_v2. Right now configure considers either find function as a successful indicator of libhdhomerun. Dropping the tests for find_devices should be all that's necessary, or maybe changing those to spit out an error message.

[10:49:30] stuarta: and i'm going to take this opportunity to fix the naming. it's armv7l not armv71
[11:40:48] stuarta: hmmm... newer buildslaves on freebsd shutdown when the master was restarted. that's not a very good idea
[11:49:38] stuarta: seems like a bug which has been merged into 1.3.1 but no anything earlier

[21:13:37] markspieth: warpme_: not currently
[21:14:38] warpme_: markspieth: do you mean lack of support for gles or lack of selection possibility?
[21:15:16] markspieth: warpme_: no selection. desktop is forced if it has full gl support.
[21:17:44] warpme_: argh. Do You believe playing with .pc files may cheat configure? (isn?t android using gles?)
[21:32:49] warpme_: markspieth: I?m asking for gles as I have running mythtv on s905w with opengl (also with playback; provider is mesa-lima). UI is hell slow as dri rasterizer is swrast. I want to experiment with gles provided by arm consortium blobs for mali450 (gfx chip used by s905). For this I need to ask mythtv to use gles as gl in not aval. via amr blobs....

[22:42:39] stuarta: still have to work out the bits to be able to force a build
[22:43:01] stuarta: and maybe authentication on the webui
[22:43:34] stuarta: then run a bunch of tests on the dev instance of the server to see if the upgrade is going to work
