[13:21:59] stuarta: dammit, the archlinux playbooks need some work, urlgrabber is in an AUR

[19:17:35] jpabq: stuarta: what is the minimum version of ansible required for the mythtv playbook? I tried to run it on Debian Jessie and get "ERROR: dnf is not a legal parameter in an Ansible task or handler", so I assume the version of ansible is too old.
[19:19:05] stuarta: jpabq: yes the debian ansible is too old. you can only get it to work by commenting out the dnf bits. i would first try commenting out https://github.com/MythTV/ansible/blob/master/qt5.yml#L7
[19:20:02] jpabq: stuarta: thanks.
[19:20:14] stuarta: also https://github.com/MythTV/ansible/blob/master . . . /main.yml#L7 and line 8
[19:21:35] stuarta: worst case you have to comment out all the bits which reference dnf, but if it goes that far, it's easier just to pull the package names out and install those
[19:23:30] ** stuarta wanders off again **
[19:33:44] hampton: Gah. I'm waist deep in include files on the rpi, and I finally found where NULL gets reset back to 0.
[19:34:46] hampton: The FFmpeg timer.h file calls unistd.h which calls stddef.h, which doesn't care what you set NULL to because it knows better.
[19:36:58] hampton: Sigh. stddef.h does check to see if its been included before, but only after redefining NULL.
[19:39:29] peterbennett: My raspberry pi stddef.h has almost nothing
[19:40:07] peterbennett: 3 lines, a define of __always_inline
[19:40:43] hampton: Its in the
[19:41:07] hampton: Its in the gcc override of stddef.h. On my rpi thats /usr/lib/gcc/arm-linux-gnueabihf/6/include/stddef.h
[19:41:57] peterbennett: I was looking in /usr/include
[19:42:39] peterbennett: I see it now
[19:44:49] peterbennett: I wonder about this "#if defined (_STDDEF_H) || defined (__need_NULL)"
[19:45:38] peterbennett: It seems that _STDDEF_H_ is alays defined as part of this file so that test will always return true, so how should it work?
[19:45:41] hampton: unistd.h unconditionally defines __need_NULL
[19:46:05] peterbennett: If that was done correctly maybe you could just undef _need_NULL and it would not define it.
[19:46:43] hampton: I'm trying a test to include unistd.h early and then define NULL to nullptr. The early inclusion of unistd.h should keep it from being re-parsed later.
[19:47:07] peterbennett: that might work
[19:49:10] peterbennett: A real game of whack-a-mole.
[19:49:31] hampton: The code is several level's deep in nested includes by the time unistd.h is included. The last include in the myth code was just get_bits.h.
[19:50:16] hampton: I think I may have it. Now to compile on the other 19 VMs. :-)
[19:50:41] peterbennett: 19 VMs ?
[19:53:54] hampton: Yes. I'm testing my systemic changes on Cetos, 5 fedora versions, 4 ubuntu (now that 1810 is out), 3 debian, 2 suse, arch, 3 freebsd (including 12 beta), and an rPi. Couldn't get gentoo working. I always forget to test the android compile.
[19:54:29] hampton: Would love to figure out how to get a mac vm running so I could compile there too.
[19:54:41] jpabq: hampton: you must have a LOT of RAM — unless you are just doing one at a time, which would be tedius.
[19:56:57] hampton: I have a server in the basement with 64G. Just found out that the compiles can actually starve my mythbackend vm, even though that has a dedicated cpu.
[19:57:24] hampton: I had a recording get truncated the other night. FIrst time that's happened.
[20:11:33] peterbennett: An article the other day said there is a new Intel I9 processor that can use 128G of RAM.
[20:16:09] hampton: jpabq: Question for you from a couple of weeks ago: I think I've found a problem in the streaming recorders. The ASI and DVB stream handlers have a function (SetRunningDesired) that's written as if its an override of a base class function, but the base class function isn't virtual.
[20:18:15] gigem: jpabq, stuarta: ansible 2.6.3+dfsg-1~bpo9+1 is available for Jessie in backports.
[20:19:49] hampton: Would that work for 14.04 as well? It has the same problem with old ansible.
[20:21:48] gigem: Dunno. Does Ubuntu have it's own backports support? FWIW, my own luck using Ubuntu packages in Debian is hit and miss.
[20:22:06] gigem: s/it's/its/
