[00:01:04] jpabq: I just update to latest master. libbluray is now required?

[02:05:23] gigem: peterbennett: Here are 3 logs playing 1080i mpeg2 at 1x with default 2x va, default 1x va and kernel 2x gl deinterlacers. https://pastebin.com/69KzcQqr https://pastebin.com/6UJsr50B https://pastebin.com/sCgNwnWh As best I can tell, the va deinterlacers are failing and the mythtv fails to compensate accordingly. Only the kernel 2x gl deinterlacer case plays back smoothly.
[02:08:25] gigem: As for time stretch > 1x and < 2x, even kernel 1x gl playback is jerky with no errors being reported. The average fps reported bumps around +/- ~1 fps from the intended rate. That is with HDMI audio output. When I switch to NULL or analog audio output, the playback is smooth like it should be. markspieth is that an indication of a crappy, hdmi, audio driver?
[02:11:07] gigem: Time stretch of 720p is jerky at anything > 1x including 2x even with NULL/analog audio. Something else is going wrong there. I think I'm going to have to add some extra instrumentation to figure what's going on there. Frame drop prediction is being used, but I suspect wrongly because the audio and video keep drifting apart until they get out of the allowed range.
[02:11:29] gigem: I'm off to try to catch one of the shield crashes/exits under gdb now.

[06:31:11] markspieth2: gigem: it would most likely be an incorrect timebase on the audio driver. does the hdmi audio use ac3 reencoding? not sure if this is a factor.
[06:36:17] markspieth2: a bit of detailed audio timestamp logging should point to the issue.
[06:44:20] markspieth2: this could also be a vsync issue. avsync assumes that vsync is at the displays refresh rate. if they dont match then it will not do its job correctly.

[14:30:01] gigem: markspieth: How do i chaeck and what logging do I need to enable?
[14:35:51] gigem: peterbennett, markspieth: It took almost 3 hours last night, but I finally got a crash/exit under gdb. Every indication is that it was a clean exit with status 0. The log is very similar to the previous one. I can make it available if you like. My current suspicion is there is some unexpected and as yet not understood Andriod lifecycle event occuring. I'm going to remove the finish() calls I added to
[14:35:53] gigem: QtActivity.java and put android:noHistory in the AndroidManifest.xml to see if that works any better to see if that works any better.
[14:39:18] gigem: As for the slow resume issue, which is the reason for the finish() calls, my current suspicion is the Qt event loop is getting confused and stuck temporarily because of the deep sleep/resume. Unfortunately, I don't think gdb can be used because it gets deteched during the sleep. I do know that during the resume, the mythfrontend process is using a lot of CPU.

[21:49:16] stuarta: ffs. i get a few hours into hacking on the updated build master configuration, only to find fedora can't be arse to package `buildbot-www` python modules which the master requires to function....

[22:15:06] markspieth: gigem: -v audio, video, timestamp but dont run it for too long as it generates heaps of logs. Then you need to look at the detailed timestamps in the A and V packets and check that the delta between the A/V timestamps is constrained.
[22:15:57] markspieth: I thought it should already handle the case where it extends frames as well as skipping them. Not sure though since it was quite a while ago that I did this.
[22:18:20] markspieth: Also Ive been looking at the 4K display issue in android and have a way forward. The first test did not work but I suspect this direction will work when I figure out where it needs to go. I Perfer QtActivity but may need to go in as a patch to Qt where the surface gets allocated.
[22:19:59] markspieth: see https://www.javatips.net/api/moonlight-androi . . . ht/Game.java for my inspiration wrt settin gthe best display mode and switching it if necessary
[22:20:39] markspieth: But I think I need to defer the onCreateHook until after the switch is complete as it takes about 3 secs to do
[22:20:59] markspieth: This is done in java ion OnCreate

[22:49:39] gigem: stuarta: "apt-get install buildbot" doesn't work? :)
[22:51:13] gigem: markspieth: If it does that, then great. I didn't look. I just assumed because the focus had always been on dropping frames for fast speeds that it simply let the a/v sync correctlion handle slow speeds.
[22:59:39] peterbennett: gigem: I am interested to know if you see the same with the video clips I sent, one is smooth and the other which changes frame rate is not.
[23:00:22] peterbennett: gigem: If you have one tthat does not change framerate and still drops frame I would be interested to get an extract
[23:03:13] gigem: peterbennett: I will try to get to them this eveneing, but can't promise more than that. It hasn't rained much so I'm going for a bike ride after eating. That won't leave much time for MythTV.
