[09:24:43] warpme: Guys – is it possible to provide me some hosting space (1..1.5G) to host MiniMyth2 images on mythtv web servers? I’m having notorious problems with dissapearing domains in free registry of dyndns) – so my UPC hosted MiniMyth2 site needs to be permanently updated

[11:01:58] enyc: warpme: i can't answer r.e. hosting aspect, but ... i can say setting up dyndns with dns.he.net works nicely and reliably =)
[11:09:22] warpme: eync: oh – I had 1y with zero problems for linuxd.org domain until it just dissaperas. Next I had 1.5y OK with homenet.org and this domain also just dissapear few days ago… My expierience is that any free registry domain is risk as buaaines model is usually: offer for free; wait till users will be addicted enough to consider pay small $ after domain removal; remove domain from free registry; wait for users crying for return; offer return w
[11:09:23] warpme: small $ payment. I’m tried of this after 2 forced editions of all download links in my MiniMyth2 site due domain change…

[11:13:16] enyc: warpme: yes, he.net seem to not be like that is all i can say
[11:13:56] enyc: warpme: their business model mostly around attracting more switched-on-sorts to tunnelbroker and ipv6-certification etc... they cause suhch people more likely to consider he.net for ipv6-transit. indeed they 'propped up' the ipv6-backbone, provided lots of free transit etc etc!
[11:14:17] enyc: warpme: they seemingly wanted ot push-up the chain, be an 'ipv6 tier 1' isp etc

[14:07:58] gary_buhrmaster: enyc:, warpme: while the (free) he.dns.net dns service is good (and I still use it for one domain), the base issue is that there is no "real" domain registered. For (around) $12/yr you can get minimyth2.org (or whatever), and it will now be stable, and you can point it to where you need. "Free" domains are (as you said) unstable.
[14:18:45] enyc: gary_buhrmaster, warpme: yes, i've tended to use a 'real' domain-tame in combination with a subdomain delegated do ns?.he.net for he-dyndns ...
[14:36:27] markspieth: Ive been using moo.com with with that registered as the primary ipaddr for a registered domain. you could do that with any subdomain. Its been up for years. $0

[17:24:47] peterbennett: warpme: I am using bintray.com for images for mythtv-light. They support many types of images. I don't know how reliable they will be over the long term, or if they support your type of image.
[17:33:08] warpme: peterbennett: bintray.com look very interesting! Quick look at OpenSource plan shows me limitations only on: vol-per-time (1T/M) & capacity (10G). I didn’t see limitations on time period. Is it also Yours understnding?. If Yes – then this is PERFECT!
[17:34:46] peterbennett: warpme: I don't remember, but it seemed that it was fine for mythtv-light.
[17:35:19] peterbennett: I don't think there was any time limit or number of packages limit.
[17:38:10] warpme: peterbennett: fantastic!. For sure I’ll switch to bintry.com! Lets see their REST API to automate with my build system....
[17:43:30] peterbennett: what type of repository do you use? They support various types
[17:44:30] peterbennett: I see they also have "Generic" so I suppose that helps if you have something different.
[17:45:35] peterbennett: warpme: For mythtv-light it is good because they host a debian style repository so people who add it to their system get automatic updates
[17:50:22] warpme: peterbennet: I think I should go with „Generic” as mm2 is PXE image packed with squashfs. But I also have bz2 with PXE install files, squashfs with mm2 theme, zip with MAC frontend, etc. Will play with bintry.com. I hope they allows to distribute at least bz2 archives....
[17:52:17] peterbennett: warpme: Is your problem with IPV6 fixed again now after this morning commit?
[17:52:45] warpme: peterbennet: yes. now is all OK :-)
[17:53:25] peterbennett: sorry about that.
[17:53:42] warpme: peterbennet: when You will have free cycles – we can return to #12311 ;-p

[21:51:39] markspieth: peterbennett: I have created a new account mythtv on tvdb.com and obtained a new API for it. I needed a username and userkey to access the new API. I assume we dont have the original info available any more
[21:52:11] markspieth: Also porting the relevant libs to py3 so the run on both.
[21:52:26] peterbennett: markspieth: I think the userkey may be in the code but I dont know about user id etc.
[21:52:28] markspieth: A few more modes to go and Ill be done
[21:52:42] markspieth: No userkey is not in code.
[21:52:54] markspieth: API key as only
[21:53:12] markspieth: now you have to auth beofr using whereas previously that was not true

[21:54:12] markspieth: We need to save the password somewhere in mythtv and change the password recovery email to something project wide
[21:54:23] markspieth: may be a Q for stuarta
[21:54:34] markspieth: yes I know its way before your time.
[21:56:09] peterbennett: We should distribute the user is and password in some secure manner and have some email address that goes to all.
[21:56:52] markspieth: That was my thought too
[21:56:58] peterbennett: I wonder if non-members can email to the private mythtv-developers list.
[21:57:00] markspieth: I dont know whats in place
[21:57:25] peterbennett: There is a contact email address somewhere and I forget who it goes to.
[22:04:46] peterbennett: actually it is the "Contact us" page on the web site. The email goes to one developer, I forget who it is.
